This store was very clean & neat when I was shopping there earlier this afternoon. The sales ladies were all so sweet. I was looking around for a few things and the sales woman that decided to ask me if I needed any help you exactly what I was looking for. She was so cheery and so helpful. She helped me find the items that I was looking for and even some that were just really great suggestions. She noted my status as far as my Ulta rewards account goes. She thanked me for my business. She thanked me for my loyalty. She asked me if there's anything that I have been looking for, but not able to find. I did let her know that there were a few things, but there was no problem. Hello, I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding a recent experience I had while attempting to return products at one of your store locations. I brought in four items that did not work for me due to my sensitive skin and were only minimally used. However, an employee named Marika refused to accept two of the items, claiming they were approximately 20% used. She also stated that there had been a policy change regarding returns on products that are 20% used. I explained that the bottles were not completely full at the time of purchase, but my explanation was dismissed without consideration. Due to this refusal, I went to a different store location, where two of the items were accepted without hesitation or any mention of such a policy about being used more than 20%. This inconsistency between locations is confusing and frustrating, especially when I was given conflicting information about return policies. This interaction felt unfair and unprofessional, and I expect a more consistent application of your return policy across all locations, as well as better communication and training for staff in handling customer concerns respectfully and accurately. OMG!!!! Mia A. in the salon is sooo sweet! I didn't care that she wasn't a Master Stylist like some do. I just needed an appointment, and she was available. She is sooo sweet, kind, and she cut my hair like no other. My hair is ethnic and has curls, some frizz and is thick. I am a swimmer and I thought I ruined my hair from just ripping my one or two braids while taking my cap off and not properly detangeling my hair after washing it 2x or more a week. I told Mia if possible no more than an inch off and behold. She deep conditioned my hair with two treatments, clarified it and I can't believe how soft it was. Plus she didn't cut more than I asked her to. I use to get my hair straightened once a week at a salon that closed down during covid for years. Yet, about 9 months ago I took up swimming. So I don't really know how to take care of my natural hair, then to top it off with the chlorine from the pool (even with a cap) so Mia showed me a couple of products and was able to see me last minute since my prior appointment at Ulta in Renton cancelled on me at the very last minute. Also I didn't have to pre-wash my hair like I did for my Renton Appt at Ulta (honestly if you're paying $ you shouldn't have to do that anyways). I just had the worst haircut I've ever gotten. Service was supposed to take approximately an hour and rushed cut was completed in under 25 minutes. She thinned my hair without my permission and I did not want this. I was also informed that using a brush with the hair dryer required a blowout upcharge. $67 for a haircut and I left with wet hair because she refused to use a brush to dry it without charging over $20 more. The website does not state this when you book, the blowout charge is supposed to be for using tools and styling, not for a simple blowdry. read more

I visited the salon for the first time, my hairstylist I used to go to moved. I needed something right away, I got in on a Sunday, spent about an hour and a half with Mia. I went in for a trim, the oleplex treatment and then I needed her to thin out my hair. Price wise it wasn't bad, the treatment was the most expensive part, I hope it actually helps repair my hair. Overall, I am very happy with the service. Mia was excellent, knowledgeable and overall so nice! I will likely be back to see her at Ulta. read more

Surprised to see that this Ulta has such low reviews! Every time I've come in here it's been clean, everybody has always been helpful, and I've never had an issue. I was in recently to get my hair done at the Salon. My hair used to be a really "yellow" blonde and the grow out I had from past work was baddd. It really needed some updating. Bailey was the one who did my hair! I can't go too much into description with what she did because I'm not super savvy with this stuff, but I know she added some lowlights and highlights to create a natural-looking balayage! I wanted something new that looked fresh, but wouldn't be too much upkeep since my son will be here in a matter of weeks. Bailey did an AWESOME job. I LOVE how my hair came out and the price for what I got was perfect. She really took her time on my hair and made sure it was exactly what I wanted! During the time I was there I got to interact with the other employees and they are all super fun, nice, and easy to talk to! I definitely recommend this Ulta for ANY of your beauty needs! read more

My review is specifically for the salon. I walked in and the sales manager was super helpful in helping me book a blowout at the salon since I was having trouble online. I show up to my appointment and the stylist told me I booked the wrong service because my hair wasn't "normal." I have curly hair. She booked me for a "texture set" and told me it would be $80+. I really needed my hair done so I didn't object. I didn't receive the services listed under the texture set and was charged $80+ dollars for a blowout. It was not silky and she barely ran a flat iron thru my hair. I was nervous to use this salon for hair services and I was proven right. I then read the booklet of services and they proudly state they never charge more for texture or length. I'm disappointed, won't return to the salon and do not recommend those who don't have "normal" hair spend their money there. read more

I've come to this store several times before and had mediocre service, but recently had a terribly uncomfortable experience here the afternoon of 8/9. I came in for some nail polish and to restock on Dermalogica face lotion, and started in the nail polish aisle. The store was very low on stock and nothing stood out, but I ended up grabbing a couple to look at, leaning down and holding the nail polish near my toe to see if the colors would look good on them. I looked up to see a middle-aged blonde staff member with a clipboard looking at me, I smiled and went back to looking at nail polish. Apparently, what I was doing was suspicious (I've done this all the time at other stores?) and I heard her whispering to the security guard, looking over at me. I continued through the store and found that the security guard was following me. It was one of the most embarrassing experiences I've had at a store, and I ended up leaving without purchasing anything out of how awkward I felt. I will not be back here. She refused to help another guest who came up to her and said she was helping someone and looked at me and asked again if I needed help. I normally don't give one stars but this place deserves it. I had an allergic reaction to philosophy's miracle worker and couldn't use it anymore. I lost the receipt because I bought it in April and the clerk told me there was nothing she could do about it because it's been past three months. I get that it's over three months but normally when someone has an allergic reaction or can't use the product some type of relief or remedy would be offered I know Nordstrom will always gladly take something back if the product is not of quality and same with Sephora. But the clerk just sent me packing. A little confused and annoyed I called ulta guest services and told them about the situation. They were really confused for why that was and told me that I had until a year to return it. They told me to go back inside and to talk with the store manager and that they'll stay on the phone with me if I needed back up. When I told the store manager she started asking me questions like why did you buy this this is for old ppl. I told her I have a sickness that makes me sensitive to the sun and saw that this had spf. Then she walked me to her esthetician along the way she's like why did you wait three months. And I told her I didn't have time to go to the mall. I'm a busy person that worked 45+ hrs a week plus sometimes going to the mall is out the way. I honestly didn't understand why she was berating me with so many questions. I got angry cuz I felt like I being attacked for trying to return something that wasn't a fit. I'm disappointed that a store manager would treat and belittle their customers like this. And it's even sadder because I really like ulta. But I don't think I will be returning to this location. I've already contacted guest services about this but honestly I'm just surprised that from a manager level this is how you treat customers. read more

This is for a Shitty Ass Review, as I literally had a shitty ass. Used the bathroom afterwards realized there was no toilet paper... and they have air hand dryers. I lived in a 10 min nightmare of hell situation. Until finally I had to communicate through the walls to the adjacent room to the employees they were out of toilet paper. Upon this, laughs erupted and so the nightmare continued. About 5 minutes later one brave soul ventured to the bathroom to hand me a box of tissues from their back room... Got my haircut here a while ago and forgot to make a review. My hair was down to my hips and I came in just asking for a simple cut, 3-4 inches off. Ended up getting my hair chopped all the way above my nipple which was horrifying since I didn't ask for that and wasn't prepared at all. The cut was nice and even but definitely did not listen to my direction. I even told the woman how I usually only get 1-2 inches off and I wanted to get slightly more off. I rarely get my haircut and this experience made me scared to get it cut again. Makes me upset because if I knew that much was going to get cut off I could've donated it. read more

I don't usually write negative reviews but I had a sad experience at Ulta of Southcenter/Tukwila. I scheduled a balayage appointment and went in with photos of my previous balayage that had become rather brassy and orange. I told my stylist (Taylor) that I didn't want to go lighter than the original balayage color, but did want to remove the orange tones and brassiness. Once we were finished, I thought it looked a little dark but I know better than to judge color right away. I left, and waited until the next morning to look closer in natural lighting and in a well-lit bathroom. My hair is now all one tone -- she did not use bleach (I have very dark hair) to balayage my hair. I called and spoke with Ashley (I'm not sure if she is a manager) and she encouraged me to come in for a consult. I drove back to the location the next day, only to have Ashley tell me that 1) she thought my color looked like the photo I provided (it does not) and 2) that she thought my hair had dead ends so she didn't want to color it again. I told her I had my hair cut THE DAY BEFORE at her salon, so it would be remarkably disappointing if I had dead ends. I left because she clearly was not going to offer a refund for a botched balayage...and hair cut, apparently. Very disappointed not just in the lack of skill, but also in the lack of customer service at this location. I won't be back. read more

First off most of the people that work here are high school rejects, waiting to suck up some rich man so they can secure the bag. Too bad, you look like shit and even with those discounts you get working here you can't fix ugly. This is true. I don't need service I find all the stuff on my own because they have useless workers here who don't greet you and have a stick up their ass which needs to come out. Why work in a place when you are mad at everyone coming in?! I just don't understand how these mediocre workers think they are better than the customers. Excuse me but it's the customers that bring in the money that obviously doesn't pay you enough to do your job. I'm so sick of all the locations, they have crap service and hideous workers with attitude. Oh and I can't forget the top flight security, bird chest having little boys that have no business being anybody's security. They stand around and look clueless and think they have some authority. This business obviously reads their reviews as I was told by their employee but refuse to make any changes. Maybe people should stop giving business to crap companies like this, they know the issues but feel like they don't need to address them since they are better than the customers. Reading the reviews they clearly discriminate against people of color. They stereotype people by the way they look and provide service to certain people. I find this very unfair. I went to Ulta to buy a heat protection spray. I got to the register to pay, the cashier let me know there is an special going on on my item Buy two get one free. Since I was buying a travel size and a regular size, I decided to get one big one more to get the for free. Then after buying it went to my car and thought about not being smart about the offer so I decided to go back and return the small bottle for a big one. Each item was 16.00 so basic math 16.00 x 2= 32.00 well when I return the small item to get the regular size they ask me to pay 6.23 more. I don't understand why I had to pay more for something that should be free. Since it was late and I don't like to argue I paid with a $20.00 bill and the cashier did not give me change back. my daughter just bought a small size perfume to test it out (among several other items), as there was no tester available. I chose email receipt at checkout. On the way out, she found a tester for the perfume she bought and didn't like it. We immediately got back in line to return the perfume. I was told I had to come back later to return it, as it wasn't in their system. It's 30 minutes later and I still have no email receipt. I should not have to come back later to make the return because of their poor logistics. I will not shop here again. read more

This location has really improved since my original review. This store is good if you know what you're looking for because the employees aren't very helpful, but they are at least friendly. The makeup racks are sometimes completely disheveled, which is a huge disappointment; the high end area is usually better kept than the "regular" side. Typical to Ulta, high end items are on one side (right) and everything else on the other (left). Their prices can be a little on the higher side, but it's really easy to find coupons AND you can get points that turn into money that can be used for anything you want; play your cards right and you can at least even out, if not come out ahead. read more

When I first walked in I was not graded the assistant manager was really rude to me. They didn't even check me in another girl had to check me in. My appointment was for 415 she was running behind got me in at 4:20. Which I am not a girl that likes people who are late if I am early and on time for my appointment I expect you to be on time to do my appointment. I went and asking her to trim off the dead ends and that's it and she kept asking me questions like I was a hairstylist. I haven't had my haircut in two years all I wanted was a dead ends trimmed off and my hair styled. She washy shampooed she trimmed up my hair and I looked nice leaving. Again when I first got there I did not appreciate the experience I left happy but I will say their customer service skills are horrible horrible horrible read more
