I'm usually pretty loyal to Sephora because it's easier for me to get to, but when I heard that Ulta was having a buy one get 50% off sale on NYX products I immediately ran in. I've had my eye on the NYX lip lingerie lip stain pencil for a while, and up until a couple of weeks ago it's only been available online. This Ulta is relatively new and it's located just across the street from Westfarms Mall. I like shopping at this Ulta because all areas of the store are really well stocked, especially currently during the holiday season. There are also plenty of special edition gift sets available. Ulta is a great shopping experience for three reasons. Majority of the items have testers, so you can touch, play and see how they work for you, before you purchase. The other reason is they sell high end products and drugstore items in the same store. Also, there are several brands and products that are exclusively sold at Ulta and no other brick and mortar location. At this location there's a wide variety of hair products and hair tools, skin care, fragrances, makeup as well as a trial sized section. The staff working at this Ulta location are very knowledgeable about the products and are ready to answer any questions. There are several services this Ulta location offers, I haven't utilized any of them, so I can't comment on the quality. They offer ear piercing. Hair services, such as haircuts, color and style. They also offer eyebrow services and makeup for a special event. I enjoy shopping at Ulta of West Hartford, and I'll continue shopping here in the future. read more

Hello. I went in today for an appointment I had booked about a week prior with the management, I had discussed what kinda makeup I wanted done before as well. It came up to 60 dollars BUT when I came back for my appointment date at 11:00 AM, May 31st and showed them the same makeup I wanted done they said it would cost more even though I was previously told it was another price. I get seated down and everything seems to be alright, I would like to mention that I am an older gentleman as well. I felt judged, which I do understand why, THOUGH, I am a paying customer so this should not effect the work. I did ask for an orangey look, that is not my concern. My concern is I was in the chair for 10 minutes at most and they didn't do what I asked properly. As you see in my picture... the eyeliner is not the best, started from the MIDDLE of my eye. 60 dollars for this? It was half-assed and done quickly and incorrectly. I feel ripped off for my money, I know 60 dollars isn't that much for make-up but it is enough for it to have been done correctly, right? Foundation is orange, what I wanted but it was put on messily and all in my hair and not blended correctly down the neck. Eyeliner and shadows is obvious. I would not recommend coming here if you want a comfortable and straightforward experience. Very big location and very nice cashiers .The store is super clean and very well organized,I found it easier to navigate versus the Plainville one .The prices are still ok ,my only suggestion would be for the price tags to be more accurate.For 1 item in particular,the price at the register was different than the sticker price. read more

I came in for something specific but decided to take a peek around at the make-up. Every time I talk to any salesperson in an Ulta I regret it--and today was no exception. The salesperson asked if I needed anything, and I asked if they had any matte eye shadow palates because it was my preference and almost everything has predominantly glitter shadow. She led me to a few different products, which were not what I wanted, but close. She led me to one (out of stock, why even show me?) that was promising. What irritated me about the conversation was that she said, "This palate is perfect for you; it works great for women just getting into make up." I never said anything like that. If anything, I spent my 20s wearing plenty of glittery make-up and I prefer an understated look for work. It was rude for her to make assumptions. She also called me "hun" repeatedly. I never have these weird interactions at Sephora. Just sayin. Anyway, despite this odd interaction, this particular location did have what I needed, they were well stocked, the store was clean, and despite the nearby construction it wasn't hard to navigate/park. read more

I visit this location when I'm in the area , I shop at the West Farms mall often , plus I noticed this location has some products my local Wtby store doesn't . Anyways I never leave a review for a store sales associate but this time I thought I should for Angelica . She was so kind and helped me. I explained I needed to re purchase since I forgot my coupon , she made my transaction easy and helpful with questions etc I will tell you that , this makes me want to shop here more than any other Ulta . For a 1st timer, coming in I was a little skeptical and a little nervous, as it is difficult finding good quality stylists that are comfortable with textured hair. However, from the moment i walked in, to the moment I left the building, Lenashja made me feel comfortable and was very knowledgeable! I had such an amazing experience that I'm already planning my next visit! My only recommendation would be for the schedulers to set aside more time for silk presses because there seemed to be an overlap in appointments, due to an hour and a half is not being anywhere near enough time to wash, dry and press textured hair. read more
