This was my first time trying this place. Mary braided my hair. I asked for Boho knotless with human hair butt length and I got just that! they are a little longer than butt length but they didn't charge me extra. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very disappointed with my experience at Ultimate Braiding.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I paid $475 (including tip) for boho braids on December 27 at 7:00 PM and sat in the chair for over 4 hours. In less than 24 hours, the style was completely ruined. The loose hair became tangled and matted, there was visible white product residue on my scalp, and the braids looked unwearable. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I contacted the salon the next day to request a full refund, as the style did not hold even one full day. Instead, I was told to "take better care of my braids" and that I should have "known it would look like this." The manager stated there was nothing they could do.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This response was unacceptable. A $475 professional style should not fall apart overnight, especially when no unusual activity or neglect occurred. I now have to pay again to have the braids removed, after already spending a significant amount of money and time. Due to the lack of accountability and refusal to resolve the issue, I plan to file a formal complaint with the State of Maryland. I would not recommend this salon based on my experience. read more

I could give zero stars, I would. Please DO NOT book with this salon. I was assaulted by the manager on Friday, October 17th after traveling all the way from Delaware for an appointment. Before my visit, I sent the manager pictures of the "Bora Bora braids" I wanted, and she confirmed she could do the style. We agreed on a price of $450. When I arrived at 6:58 AM, I showed her the style again, and she confirmed the length. As my hair was being braided, I noticed it was much longer than the picture. The staff assured me it would be shortened after dipping it in hot water and using perm rods. Once the style was finished, the braids were nearly down to my knees..absolutely not what I had requested, especially since I'm only 5'3" and work in a corporate setting. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I insisted again that it needed to be shorter and showed the reference photo, things quickly escalated.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The stylist who had been working on my braids became hostile, mumbling in French (which I understood).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They had no idea that I am West African and half Guinean. Moments later, the manager came over aggressively with jumbo scissors, cutting near the right side of my head and snipped off about three inches of my natural hair. We locked eyes immediately after she realized what she had done her face dropped. She knew it was completely foul and unacceptable. When I confronted her, she began pleading for forgiveness, offering me $200 not to call the police. She even said she would call the police on herself, so I didn't need to report her. That was my final straw so I called the police. When officers arrived, she told them she was "sorry," "didn't mean to," and that "it wasn't her intention." But her behavior said otherwise. She was spiteful, intimidating, and heavy-handed, clearly acting out of anger. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Throughout the incident, she and her staff mocked me in French, stating she will "cut my hair" purposely, assuming I wouldn't understand.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They laughed at me, making me feel humiliated and unsafe. When I called them out, they were visibly shocked. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Out of the ten or more people in that salon, only one stylist showed kindness and professionalism -- the only reason I didn't completely break down that day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]She even spoke up for me, telling them that I was patient, respectful, and not in the wrong. She tried to calm me down and help me feel safe, and for that, I truly appreciated her compassion.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I left the salon feeling violated, heartbroken, and traumatized. My natural hair in the front is now so short that I can't even make a ponytail. This experience has left me genuinely afraid to get my hair done again. The manager's behavior was unacceptable, dangerous, and cruel. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else as I feel so defeated and heartbroken. read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I arrived at 6 a.m. and was the first customer. I signed in and was sitting in the chair within a few minutes, and my braiders got to work.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] By 11 a.m. she was done and I was on my way out the door. Overall I like my braids, however the products they use are NOT compatible with one another. They used a clear waxy gel for my parts and to bind the boho extensions together before feeding them into the braids. They finished the style with mousse. By the time my hair dried when I was home, waxy white buildup formed at the base of most braids--particularly at the crown of my head where they applied the most product. Since I showed up with a thoroughly clarified scalp and hair, I'm very disappointed to have to spend time cleaning my braids. read more

My braids look great BUT.... I experienced this braiding shop today due to their current sale that they have for medium knotless. According to the hours advertise, they open at 5am. I arrived at 7:30am! I signed in and waited. I didn't get seated into a chair until 12:30pm. After being seated I had 2 people start on my hair. 1 being the initial braider and the 2nd braider just braiding the ends. After the first braider started my hair, she then walks away and allows the 2nd braider to continue braiding. I didn't see the initial braider until after 3pm to braid more of my hair for the 2nd girl! After sitting and sitting, they finally finished my hair at 8:38pm. IT SHOULD NOT TAKE 13 HOURS TO GET MEDIUM KNOTLESS BRAIDS !!!!!!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is very disappointing. Please do better or communicate to people that you're running behind. I had scheduled the appointment on April 7th and confirmed it in person at the Clinton location on April 13th.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I drove over an hour, leaving at 3:30AM, to ensure I arrived on time. I requested micro braids using wet and wavy human hair, and although I specifically asked to be serviced at the Clinton location, I was informed that Mimi at the Baltimore location would be the one doing my hair. I was quoted a price, and I confirmed that the cost included the hair. When I arrived for my appointment, I was asked whether I had brought the hair myself. I responded that I had not, as I was told the hair would be provided. They searched for hair but did not have the wet and wavy texture I requested, and instead offered me other types, which I declined. [[HIGHLIGHT]]While I was waiting, another customer arrived claiming she also had a 5:00AM appointment with Mimi--and Mimi began servicing her without any explanation to me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I asked for clarification about my appointment, especially since I had confirmed that the hair would be included and nothing had been communicated about a change. I'm typically not one to write reviews, but I feel that any business could appreciate constructive criticism when it comes to providing services. I visited this braiding shop twice and had a different experience depending on the braider. Getting boho knotless, for my first experience it was pretty great. Although I wished they added more curly hair I do understand that my hair is pretty dense and they probably wanted to minimize time spend on my head /or resources used. The parts were clean, braids were secure/tight throughout, The curly hair had great quality and lasted for the duration of the style (7 weeks, which is the longest I've ever kept a hairstyle). [[HIGHLIGHT]]My second experience did not end so great. As the women were finishing up my hair I was instructed to pay, and I did so with cash however I wanted to tip using Zelle or cash app because I didn't have any smaller bills. My phone had also died while watching a movie downloaded on my iPad. They provided me with the cash app information and then I told them I planned to tip as soon as I reached my car to charge my phone. I'm not sure if this was understood because I was approached multiple times afterwards and questioned about the tip. I understand that language barriers do exist and so I was patient and did my best to explain. The women politely agreed and went home for the night, however the other lady who did most of my hair began yelling while conversing w/ her coworker and pointing at my head frequently which made me pretty uncomfortable, as I'm not one to be confrontational. This continued throughout the dipping process and overall the environment just felt pretty hostile.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The style did look great however they added even less boho pieces than last time, and about a week later I'm left with about 2 scoops of boho hair left in my head. I have shed so badly it's embarrassing. I leave behind pieces when I stand, they snag behind on my seatbelt in the car, fall in my food, and I'm sweeping up everyday. As a Braider myself I can tell they were added loosely, and some not seamlessly (the ends poking out or loosely wrapped through the braid) Eventually I pulled out what I could (with a very slight tug or finger combing) to avoid further embarrassment but it's safe to say I will not be returning. read more

I have loved having my hair done by Ida but this last time is the last time I will visit this salon. I asked before my appt if I could bring my own hair and was told yes with the understanding that the price was still the same. I also sent a pic of the hair prior to confirm the hair I was using. It's a deep wave blend. As quoted on their page Mid-back boho braids with blended hair is $250. When I arrived at the salon and gave them my hair nothing was said until I sat down with the braiders. The whole mood/vibe changed and being curious I called a friend who understood the language being spoken to see what was being said. They are very rude and disrespectful, it was very hard for me not to respond. When it was time to pay is when I was told there is an up charge for bringing your own hair.....wow just wow, but I wasn't surprised based on the conversations that was had during the braiding session. The braids are not even close to what I normally get and the customer service was a 3/10. I'll be spending my money and time elsewhere from now on. I contacted the night before to inquire about availability, cost, and braiding times. I was quoted $220 (as recommended on IG) for the "smedium" size and that it would be OK for 5 hours tops. I inquired for Freda and was informed she will be there in the morning. I asked about the pricing of waist length and was told $250. I agreed and signed up for the service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Esa was my stylist. Her aura seemed unpleasant from the minute she approached me, as if she didn't want to be there. I asked whether she was all right, and she admitted she was tired.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As she began to blow dry my hair, I noticed her grimacing and making comments to the other woman braiding. I witnessed this conduct in the majority of her women braiding. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The braiders engaged in a lot of banter in their native tongue, as well as smiling and joking at the consumers. Going as far as comparing each customer's hair. At one point, I stopped Esa to tell her that I had a medical problem with my hair, and she said, "It's fine." By the conclusion of the struggle, my braids were excessively large; they are mediums. I compared them to the photographs on the page. The steam from her dipping my hair was incredibly hot on my head, so I raised up after saying it numerous times. Esa sucked her teeth in aspiration, and her coworkers approached and blew on my scalp. At that point, I had been there longer than expected, and after being insulted and made uncomfortable, I was prepared to leave. When I started paying for my subscription, I was told it cost $270. I had to remind the woman at the front desk of our talk, and she said it was fine to pay. What's more terrible is that some braiders had foul body odors and damaged hair. You would think they would show some cuff empathy, especially given their own personal troubles.
