My mom doesn't have a Yelp but wanted to put this message out because Norman was such a great dj!!! (Anyone looking for a wedding dj, you're going to want to read this) When my fiancé and I began the search for a dj we realize we needed not only a DJ, but an MC as well because a DJ is only half the role on wedding day, MC plays a huge part as well. During the interview process I quickly realized Norman's intent was to understand the tone we wanted to set for our wedding day, he wanted to know about my fiancé and asked if he could drop off a binder to me to review before I made my decision. Wow! Very impressive binder I must say. To gather songs selections for important moments, record our love story and review the "binder" which had all the information from our venue to questions about each person in our wedding party. Later he would use this to create the most funniest bridal party entrances, not to mention all the proper pronunciations of some hard names. He worked closely with our wedding coordinator on our timeline she shared with him to keep our guests informed and the ceremony/reception running smoothly and on time. Like all couples soon to be married, my wife and I had so much anxiety racing through our heads and were scared of the worst outcomes: What if our wedding is not fun and plain boring? Norm was the first call I made after our son proposed to his girlfriend. We didn't even have a date secured yet for our wedding reception but I knew Norm HAD to be our DJ! I actually checked his calendar before booking a date at our venue! We've known Norm for many years, so we are very familiar with his work and his ability to make an event a success. And he did not disappoint. The success of our event started months before our actual date, with Norm sending us a very nice packet that got us organized and him more familiar with the couple. I normally don't write review much but for this special man, I need to share with you how awesome is work is. I had Norman did my wedding 11 years ago. He made it so intimate and so special with all the little details with the voice recording of our vowels and the love story he wrote about us. He was very professional, showing up couple days early to see where he will put his equipments and made sure he got every running before our wedding so we don't have to worry about anything. We hired Norman as the DJ for our wedding reception. We got SO MUCH more than I could have ever imagined. I am really inexperienced with party planning and really didn't know what to expect. When we hired Norman we thought he would just show up to the reception hall, set up and do his thing...which we already knew would be pretty fantastic after he did my best friend's wedding three years earlier. He put us at ease for every step of this part of the wedding planning! He went truly above and beyond to make our day special. We had no sound system in the chapel for the ceremony...Norman to the rescue! He worked with our ceremony musician to help amplify his sound. In addition to helping our musician with sound, he had put a mic on my husband and our officiant so we didn't have a big ugly mic stand in the middle of the aisle. Norman of Ultimate Sounds, came highly recommend through a family member, who attended several of his events he participated. What impressed me with Norman is his background and knowledge in the genres of music. We met several popular wedding DJ's prior to Ultimate Sounds, and they stated if they don't know what music we are requesting, they will "google it" or try to find something similar. With Norman/Ultimate Sounds, he knew what music we were referring to. Norman even gave us a wedding checklist that he created to help us through the wedding process. After we decided to hire him, we met him a few times. Since my husband and I were busy people, I thought that it will be easier for us to talk to him on Facetime or Skype. We hired Norman for our wedding reception at The Fairmont San Jose on June 30, 2012. He deserves more than 5 stars!! I previously did not have a Yelp account, but felt it was necessary to create one just so I can give my honest opinion about our experience with Norman. We were looking for a DJ/MC that could keep the party going, and he surpassed our expectations! When we started to interview DJs, Norman just happened to be the first one. Boy...did the other one have a tough act to follow! As you can see, it only took one more interview to realize we'd be wasting our time had we interviewed anyone else. Norman first impressed us by making the effort to meet with us at a location that was convenient for us; he probably sat in at least an hour of traffic to make it easy for us. Once we met him, something about his easygoing and professional attitude instantly put us at ease. He really took the time to go over a list of questions just to get to know us better. When he asked us questions, you can tell he actually listened (unlike our second interviewee). We felt pretty confident he was THE ONE after the 1.5 hours we spent at Starbucks talking, but just wanted to see what else was out there. In no way did he ever pressure us to book with him. Actually, he suggested that we interview other DJs just to see what they had to offer compared to his services. We met with a second DJ, and yup, we immediately knew there was no comparison. From just the two interviews, we instantly recognized Norman is about providing quality work, not quantity of work. So, we quickly booked him before anyone else could snatch him up. Shortly thereafter, he sent us a binder to help with the wedding details: types of music we wanted, wedding party info, and even checklists of what to do and things to have on your wedding day. What other DJ cares enough to do that?! Norman had the music selections we wanted, and we gave him Cambodian and Vietnamese songs to incorporate onto his playlist in addition to the English songs. Of course, he had no issues working with this. This man even called the wedding party members individually to check-in and see if their tasks were on schedule! He has package deals (that were reasonable) and is willing to work with your needs. On the day of, Norman showed up extra early to set-up with a partner to ensure his work would run smoothly. I got married August 4th..A little late BUT Norman did an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING job at my husbands and I wedding!! I had to review him. Too bad there is only is 5 stars to rate on Yelp but I would give him 1,000,000 :D He did exactly what we wanted and asked for for our wedding reception. Norman was our DJ for our wedding up in Piedmont, CA. Norman is truly amazing to work with. After spending 10 minutes after first meeting with him for a consultation, you can't help but already like him. Polite, easy going, but extremely attentive, Norman is a true professional. He helped scout our venue and brainstormed ideas before proposing a package, which ended up being exactly perfect for what we needed. Norman did a wonderful job as a DJ/MC at our wedding on sept.22,2012 Boy,are we glad that we met him. We already booked a DJ supposedly but then everything fell apart the day that were supposed to sign the contract. My now husband and I decided to shop for more DJs to interview just to compare. We then found Norman through yelp and checked his website. While I was watching his videos. I told my husband that I was very impressed that I want him to be our DJ. So, I emailed him right away to see if he's still available on our wedding date. I was a little nervous because the wedding is coming up in 3mos. and usually you need to book vendors at least 6mos. In advance. I was really pleased when he responded right away. We had a great time during the interview,even. He took us back down memory lane by asking questions about how we met, where, and such... He made us feel really comfortable we didn't feel pressure to book him right away. He said to think about it and interview more DJs. On our way home I knew that he's the right guy for the job. My husband the hard sell that he is, agreed and I can hear the excitement in voice as well.So we booked him. He cut us a good deal too, which was a bonus. Couple weeks later he sent us a book and a planner to walk us through the wedding prep. I really thought he was awesome when we were having a hard time creating our timeline and I asked his help. Unfortunately he was at a seminar in Vegas but still accommodate our needs and set up a phone meeting. He even took his time to come during rehearsal and made sure everything was ok.(which was chaotic) But he made sure before he left that everything is up and running and ready to go for the next day's festivity. On the day of my wedding, everybody had a great time. All my family from different states were asking me where I found my DJ, bec. He's really awesome and they said it's by far the most fun wedding they've ever attended. (we even missed couple things on the timeline coz everyone are just dancing the night away) Another thing that I'll never forget was our love story. He has a fun way of telling the story that the crowd was just laughing the entire time and having a wonderful time. Even my husband forgot what day he proposed, and Norman diligent as always, remembered and made changes on the date. THANK YOU so much NORMAN!!! You made our wedding extra special. He made sure that all details were taken care of, and then some. Prior to the wedding, Norman met with us on several occasions and finalized all of our details. What can I say? There aren't enough stars!!! My wife tasked me with the job of finding our wedding DJ/MC and Norman made me look like a genius, haha. Seriously though, my wife and I met with a few different prospective DJs, and Norman stood out head and shoulders above the rest. Besides coming off as just a warm, caring kind of guy, it was clear that he is a professional that really takes his craft seriously. Those traits really showed in the planning of our wedding and on the big day itself. It was a pleasure working through all of the details with him to plan out our perfect wedding, and we were glad to sit back and let Norman take the reins on our wedding day. Several of our guests commented on how much they loved Norman and his telling of our "Love Story" in particular, and one of my wife's good friends is planning to hire Norman for an upcoming event! When we first met Norman for our initial appointment, we were up in the air on whether we should hire a professional dj/ emcee for our wedding or just have one of our relatives dj our wedding. After getting to know Norman, we were set in hiring him on the spot. Not only did he have the personality we were looking for, but he had many years of experience and showed us some of his great work to back it up. He not only DJ's, but also emcee's, provides wedding planning, uplighting for a great price. When doing research on any wedding vendor, there are a lot of them who will give you a set price for their work, but do not know anything about you and what you are expecting. They just show up the day of the wedding and provide their services. That was not what we were looking for. Norman goes above and beyond. After we signed the contract, we were provided with a "Wedding Planner" binder, where we were expected to fill out information about ourselves. Some of the information we provided were, a wedding timeline, our wedding party names, contact info and their bio, song lists, etc. He took the initiative to contact a couple of our wedding party for certain information that was incorporated at our wedding. What we admired most is that he even surprisingly showed up to our wedding rehearsal!! That really showed us how devoted he really is in what he does. At the wedding rehearsal he took the initiative by timing our ceremony entrance incorporating the ceremony songs we chose. All our friends, were complimenting us that we hired such professional, enthusiastic vendors, and Norman was one of them!! At the day of the wedding, you can imagine how nervous a bride and groom gets. Having Norman as a DJ/emcee/ Wedding Planner put us at ease and less to worry about. He not only provided our music at the reception, but also at the ceremony. He did wedding line up roll call and made sure everyone was lined up correctly, all 40 of us. The ambient lighting and monogram, set the mood at the reception hall, and put it over the top!! I was so emotional when I saw the reception hall. It looked so gorgeous, intimate and amazing. Everything I expected and more. We got plenty of compliments by our guests, even vendors of how beautiful the room looked. His personality kept our guests laughing and having the time of our lives. Norman really knows what he is doing because he is able to read the audience. He incorporated games here and there to keep them on their feet. It was so much fun!! When hiring a DJ, first impressions are very important!! When we met with Norman for the first time, his professionalism, personality, humor, years of experience (backed up with certification, training and insurance) and his organizational skills really showed us he takes his career/ talent seriously and enjoys what he does.
