Seriously though, my wife and I met with a few different prospective DJs, and Norman stood out head and shoulders above the rest. When we first met Norman for our initial appointment, we were up in the air on whether we should hire a professional dj/ emcee for our wedding or just have one of our relatives dj our wedding. After getting to know Norman, we were set in hiring him on the spot. Not only did he have the personality we were looking for, but he had many years of experience and showed us some of his great work to back it up. He not only DJ's, but also emcee's, provides wedding planning, uplighting for a great price. When doing research on any wedding vendor, there are a lot of them who will give you a set price for their work, but do not know anything about you and what you are expecting. They just show up the day of the wedding and provide their services. That was not what we were looking for. Norman goes above and beyond. After we signed the contract, we were provided with a "Wedding Planner" binder, where we were expected to fill out information about ourselves. Some of the information we provided were, a wedding timeline, our wedding party names, contact info and their bio, song lists, etc. He took the initiative to contact a couple of our wedding party for certain information that was incorporated at our wedding. What we admired most is that he even surprisingly showed up to our wedding rehearsal!! That really showed us how devoted he really is in what he does. At the wedding rehearsal he took the initiative by timing our ceremony entrance incorporating the ceremony songs we chose. All our friends, were complimenting us that we hired such professional, enthusiastic vendors, and Norman was one of them!! At the day of the wedding, you can imagine how nervous a bride and groom gets. Having Norman as a DJ/emcee/ Wedding Planner put us at ease and less to worry about. He not only provided our music at the reception, but also at the ceremony. He did wedding line up roll call and made sure everyone was lined up correctly, all 40 of us. The ambient lighting and monogram, set the mood at the reception hall, and put it over the top!! I was so emotional when I saw the reception hall. It looked so gorgeous, intimate and amazing. Everything I expected and more. We got plenty of compliments by our guests, even vendors of how beautiful the room looked. His personality kept our guests laughing and having the time of our lives. Norman really knows what he is doing because he is able to read the audience. He incorporated games here and there to keep them on their feet. It was so much fun!! When hiring a DJ, first impressions are very important!! When we met with Norman for the first time, his professionalism, personality, humor, years of experience (backed up with certification, training and insurance) and his organizational skills really showed us he takes his career/ talent seriously and enjoys what he does. We recently hired Norman for our wedding on 10/18/13. From the first meeting he was very professional and prepared. He showed us a sample contract, song lists, checklists for the bride, and a quote. He then mailed us a wedding planning binder for us to fill out a bio on each member of our wedding party, timeline, and other information. We had Norman as our DJ/MC for our wedding on June 15, he really did a good job,. He knows how to keep the party fun, music is awesome especially jhe really did an excellent job with our movie trivia part (our theme was movie), you will be super surprised with his "customer service": arrange time line, reply email promptly, funny personality, super nice, super duper professional. We recently had Norm DJ our wedding on 8/28 at the Palm event center and he did a great job. The great thing about him is that he is able to MC and DJ which is difficult to find . He was the utmost professional going above and beyond what we asked for. During the rehearsal he setup his equipment and provide music. We hired Norman for our 9/10/11 wedding. Hiring Norman was one of the best decisions I made. From the very first time we had met him we were hooked. We loved everything that he had to offer in his packages. And he had services that I have not seen a DJ offer before such as composing a love story that he tells during our reception and games that has my guests play. Norman knows what he is doing and he totally took over my reception. When we first met he asked me what am I expecting from him. I told him that I want to feel like a guest at my wedding. I want to be able to enjoy my time. And he did exactly that for me. He even asked who my other vendors were, he was like my wedding planner. haha. He saved my reception from falling apart at the start. My wedding party forgot the line up list so I had about 50 people that needed to be lined up and no one knew how they should be lined up. I'm stressing out and had my breakdown, the first and last one for the night, and Norman came and saved the evening. He had the list that I had emailed him and he lined all of us up and then he got the party started. From start to finish he was incredible. As the host, he was interactive with the crowd and he has such a great sense of humor that my guests loved. He kept the party flowing perfectly and his addition of the love story and the kissing game made my wedding an event to remember. As a DJ he was incredible and amazing. He kept my dance floor full and alive the entire time. Even my senior citizen guests danced until the very end. No one wanted the party to stop. We highly recommend him and we would never hire another DJ other than him again for any function that I will be throwing. He knows how to keep it professional, but fun all at the same time. My wife and I hired Norman for our wedding reception at Fortino Winery on September 15th, 2012. Norman, my guests had the best time at our reception! Everyone of my guests told me at one point or another during the reception that this was the best wedding they had ever been to. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the Love Story and the Newly Wed game. Everyone thought that I was an interesting way for the guests to really get to know how Rebecca and I met and ended up getting married. This review is WAY overdue. We hired Norman for our May 2013 wedding, and we are so happy that we did. When we first started our wedding planning about a year in advance, finding a DJ was one of our first priorities. After we booked our venue, we began researching and scheduling interviews with DJs. Norman was the first person we met with. He was willing to meet us at a location and a time that was convenient for us, which was important given our hectic schedules. We enjoyed our meeting with Norman, and we left the meeting realizing that we had a lot to think about. He asked a lot of questions about aspects of the wedding we hadn't even began to consider, and we could see that he was experienced and knowledgeable. Over the next couple of months, we met with several other DJs, did some more research about wedding planning, and ultimately decided that Norman was the best option. This is a decision we will be forever grateful for. Norman sent us a binder with a lot of popular songs to browse, a lot of helpful tips for planning, and information pages to fill out about our wedding, wedding party, etc. We met with Norman again once we had done a little more homework, and we were much more prepared the 2nd time around. We gave him general information about the types of music we liked and a few artists that we definitely didn't want to hear at the wedding, and he took it from there. Norman made the trek to be at our rehearsal dinner, which we were extremely impressed with. Luckily he was familiar with our venue, so knew how many speakers, microphones, etc would be required. The day of the wedding, Norman was amazing. He arrived early and had everything set up for our ceremony well before ceremony time, which was one less thing for a stressed bride to worry about. The rest of the night was seamless and perfect. Not only was he an amazing DJ, but a flawless emcee. He made everything flow perfectly from ceremony to the last dance. He did a personal introduction of our wedding party with information from the pages we had filled out in advance. Everything was so personal, like we had known him for years. Honestly, I'm not even sure how to describe the perfection of Norman- we met him for potentially working our wedding and as soon as we sat down, I thought to myself:" This guy is so organized, open to new music choices and friendly- I want this guy! Norman is the best! Before I was referred to him by a friend, I spent hours meeting with 5-10 different DJ's and felt like I was never going to meet a DJ that my husband and I liked. Norman listened to all of our wedding wishes, came to our rehearsal, played all of our requested songs and our guests' requested songs (it was a long list), and got every single guest up and dancing! What can I say that the other's haven't already that will convince you that Norman is THE best? Our wedding was September 27, 2014, and Norman was unquestionably, without a doubt, the best DJ we could have had for our wedding. Please, don't be put off by him wanting to meet with you, it was the single best decision I made when considering a DJ. Norman is a very genuine, sincere person and you can tell that he truly loves and has a passion for what he does, which is probably why he is truly great at it! I feel that the saying, "you get what you pay for" is absolutely true. Don't let that intimidate you, Norman is not some unattainable DJ that only the rich can afford (although his skill says otherwise), trust me we are far from it. When considering what is most important for a wedding however, the music and level of fun was at the very top of our things to consider and weigh, and Norman was worth MORE than his weight in gold! Something that I noticed that some people may not notice or be aware of, the true craftsmen ship of a skilled DJ is not just being able to mix music, scratch or beat match. All of which Norman can display expertly, but also understanding the flow, and mood of the crowd is arguably more important. If the DJ doesn't understand his audience, all of the technical skills won't matter in the least. Norman had a crowd of twenty to thirty-soemthing's and fifty to sixty-something's all dancing to a variety of music genre's that kept everyone on the dance floor the entire night! Everyone had a great time at our wedding and many of our friend's and family expressed to us how much fun they had, even going as far as to say that our wedding was the best they've ever been to. Without question, Norman had a lot to do with that. Norman at Ultimate Sounds was our wedding DJ on July 11th 2015. I have to say that although he came highly recommended-- Norman has DJ'd a few of our friend's weddings -- we had no idea he would be as amazing as he was. From the moment we had our initial meeting with Norman, we knew that we had found our wedding DJ. He was so knowledgeable and professional right from the start. Norman was always willing to go out of his way to make sure we had everything we wanted for the wedding-- even meeting with us multiple times before the wedding to review the details over and over and doing a site visit in Half Moon Bay with us, because I was a complete stress case and had to triple check everything. My wife and I could not be happier with what Norman provided for us on our special day back on December 8, 2012. Our initial search for a DJ/MC proved to be quite frustrating, as the DJs that we had previously contacted left us with an uneasy feeling in our gut, some of it which was due to the price to services offered ratio, but primarily it was due to their overall personalities. It seemed that since they do these events so often, it becomes natural for them to develop a lack of interest in what you truly want out of your day, and treat it like it's nothing more than just a contractual obligation. Basically, many of the DJs we talked to informed us, "I'm available on that day for now. Here's what I will do for $XXXX. Please reply soon to lock this in because I am first come first serve." I was thinking that this was pretty much going to be the norm. That is, until we found Norman. When we first inquired about his availability, he simply mentioned to us that yes, he was available, but more importantly, he really wanted to meet us in person to get to know who we are and figure out what we wanted on our special day. As such, we met at the Philz Coffee in Redwood City and spent what felt like only an hour (but in reality, close to four hours had passed) to get to know one another. He asked us questions about our whole story as well as about how we envisioned our wedding day and what we wanted out of our DJ / MC. It wasn't until this point when he started to talk about the different price points and from here on out, we knew that Norman was our guy. For what you pay (which is very reasonable, FYI), his customer service and willingness to go the extra mile for you was what made it a no-brainer for us to reserve Norman right on the spot. In the weeks leading up to our event, we knew that we had made the right decision. Norman had turned out to be exactly who we thought he'd be: very organized, pro-active and a consummate professional. He gave us a book of wedding ideas as well as a binder that included what kind of music we wanted, sections where we could fill out quick bios of the bridal party and any VIPs, checklists to make sure we didn't forget anything, etc. He also went to the facility a month ahead of schedule to make sure there weren't going to be any technical snafus with the location. He even took the time to call certain key members of our bridal group to see if they had any requests he could accommodate. On the day of, as with most weddings, things tend to not go according to plan. We were no different, but not when it came to anything related to Norman. It was such a nice breath of fresh air to know that we could depend on Norman to keep things moving and to make sure that everyone is thoroughly entertained. I was truly amazed that he was able to get our parents to dance, which is as tough as moving a tank with your bare hands. All in all, it was a great event and hiring Norman was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. Norman did such a fantastic job as our MC/DJ on our wedding day! We're a couple from Chicago planning a destination wedding in Pebble Beach. It wasn't the easiest being so far away from our vendors but Norman has helped us to make sure our wedding day went accordingly to plan. He offered to face-time with us at the beginning so we could get to know each other. He asked a lot of questions and had such good ideas for wedding activities. He even drove all the way from San Jose to our venue in Pebble Beach the day before the wedding to rehearse with us. As a MC, he did a great job introducing our bridal party and family. He was very attentive to make sure he pronounced Vietnamese names correctly. As a DJ, he took notes of all of our requests. I asked Norm to DJ my husband's surprise birthday party after seeing him in action at a family party. He did an amazing job.
