Well, after all these years of thinking this place is more for the opposite sex, I got an offer from my daughter to take an hour Warm Raja Deep Stretch Yoga class with her at Ellen's. Since I have been on a workout regiment in another gym, I realized how tight my muscles and ligaments have become and ironically my trainer recommended I take Yoga once a week anyways. I have never done any Yoga before of any kind but I will try anything and with the help of Christine, our Yoga instructor, pushing my position a step further than I thought I could accomplish, it made me realize my body can do just a little more than I thought, no different than my weight training experience I regularly do three times a week. Once she got us into position, she talked us through a relaxing hold on our stretches by talking us through it and directing our breathing. It made my first time a GREAT experience, because in the end, my body naturally feels a little more flexible and I feel a "good" kind of tired and relaxed. I did not realize Ellen's Ultimate Workout offered so much. What a large Spinning room with rows of spinning bikes, definitely much more high tech and advanced than what I have been used to. They do hour classes 2-3 times a day during the week, 2 on Saturday and 1 on Sunday, per the current schedule. The "Ultimate" workout area is very impressive where they do light and heavy "boot camp" style workouts. It is an amazing room, with cardio and weight machines that they use to maximize these workouts for those who want to do extreme conditioning. Ellen's offers quite a number of Pilate classes , in a separate Pilates room. They offer 5-9 classes a day, and 3-4 classes on Fridays-Sunday. They also offer Ballet Bar and even have a fitness program for baby's and toddlers. Although you can walk in or make a reservation for the classes, it is better to purchase the Packages where you pay in advance for 5, 10 or 20 classes and use them anytime you want to for Cycle, Yoga, Ultimate, and other "Studio Package" classes including Ballet Barre. The more classes you purchase in advance, the less it costs per class. There is a separate pricing structure for Pilates classes or Pilate 1 on 1 classes as well. Looks to me like Ellen has covered EVERYTHING here, and the instructors are very professional. How do I know this? Because my daughter and my wife have been going here for 12 years. It definitely made me feel better as I walked up to Ellen's that I saw men waiting outside or just finishing classes. I will definitely be back Saturday mornings for the Stretch Yoga because it helped me, and now thinking about trying their spinning classes on my off weight training days. Thank you Christine for giving me special attention for my first Yoga experience. Was not easy to get these legs and arms stretched out, but the class definitely worked.

This review is specifically for the Ms. Sue Mommy & Me classes. I cannot rave enough about Ms. Sue's classes. I stumbled across Ms. Sue's incredible M&M classes over the summer when some of my mommy friends invited me to join them for a series of free music sessions for LO's. Being free, this class was PACKED, but it did not take away from the realization that these were the best M&M classes that I had ever been to. Ms. Sue was so warm and welcoming. The class that I attended was meant for younger babies, but since half of the class was comprised of my Mommy friends and my cousin, I decided to stay until the summer was over. Even though the class was intended for younger ones, my LO still loved every minute of it especially the egg shakers. At the end of the summer, Ms. Sue let me know that she would be at EUW during the year. After settling into the new school year, I looked up Ms. Sue and signed up! Ms. Sue offers some weekdays and Saturday morning, so if you are a mamma looking for something to do with your LO 3 -12 mo. during the day, this is definitely the place to go. Ms. Sue is absolutely amazing and has been in early education for over a decade. There are many different manipulatives that Ms. Sue incorporates in each of her sessions that keep young ones engaged every week - with just enough repetition that they feel a sense of routine. One added benefit of being in a fitness location is that there are trampolines for the LO's to jump on as well as various sizes exercise balls for them to safely practice kicking, throwing, or just playing around. There is enough free time and circle time that keeps you and the LO moving the entire time. It isn't just that Ms. Sue is so fantastic, but the parents that follow Ms. Sue are such great people, friendly, nice and welcoming, that it makes the sessions enjoyable not just for baby, but for the adults as well. Yes, of course when going to Mommy and Me it is about engaging your child in stimulating activities and socialization - but all of that can be very taxing if you go to sessions where the adults that go aren't friendly. Sure your kid leaves happy, but you don't. And I have done that over and over trying out different places, and definitely these parents are the nicest that I have ever met, and so are their children. So it makes the entire experience enjoyable and makes me look forward to going each week. Thanks Ms. Sue!!

They have encouraging quotes all throughout the facility This one is in the ladies restroom. How cool is that?

I love Ellen's. In general it is a fitness studio with several different work out rooms. One room is for spinning, another for pilates, another one for the ultimate fitness, and another room for yoga and misc classes. You can reserve their classes on line at their website http://www.ellensultimateworkout.com/ or you can use the mindbody app which is my preferred choice. First the spinning room has bikes stacked pretty close to each other, so they are definitely maximizing space. I like the fact that there are hooks on the back of the wall so that you can hang your bag. The bikes are all genuine Johnny G spinning bikes with a tachometer on them. The spinning room has a strobe light and other lighing which will give you a great vibe when the music is on point. In addition, it has a screen if you would like to show video to go with the music. Well, let's say all instructors are not alike as anywhere. Some are good, some need improvement, but my favorite is Susan Andreoni. Her class is just fun. She is superb at providing instruction, reminding you of where your goal is and motivating to step it up for 30 seconds or one minute. More so, her class is just fun! She varies the music for all types and you will almost feel like you are at a party- but no - it's workout!! I honestly look forward to her class- I feel so pumped when I am done and have had the best workout. Susan A I would give 5 stars, but the bikes are so close together and some of the other instructors have room for improvement ( although I know to each their own)...so I will give 3.5 stars here. I have not taken a pilates class yet here but I will soon and will share more when I do. However, the room is full of pilates equipment and as you can see, the reviews on it are great. Then you have the ultimate room. This room has lots of treadmills, rowers, weights, benches, balls, etc. Get the picture? Ellen's was doing Orange Theory before it was Orange Theory. This is what they do, mix up cardio and strength training for 60 minutes and push you to the core with great coaching! You will definitely push yourself with the motiviating coach to where you can while everyone is on different levels. I have taken several classes here with Vinny and he is good at explaining and continuing to try to push yourself. I also like the fact that he high fives everyone and celebrates their effort when they leave. 5 stars Next you have the yoga room. They have heated yoga and vinyasa. So vinyasa is a flow with many poses and in one particular class the instructor changes poses so fast you can't keep up. Now while one can say maybe it is just me, but I have been in her class a few times and when I look around the room, if two people are following it is amazing. So I think she needs to pay attention more to her audience and their form. The classes are overall good, but I can't say that I have had one that is amazing yet. Actually I did have one instructor that was on point, but the class went over 15 minutes past schedule so it lost points for me as I had something to do after, and I hate feeling rude and walking out! So the instructors while passionate about their practice, should be conscious of people's time. 2.5 stars Last but not least, my favorite yet most painful class is Ballet Barre with Jen Mirk. Jen teaches several classes and they are all packed. She is really amazing. Motivating encouraging, pushes you to a hilt. Her instruction is stellar she will be sure to correct form and push you to limits you didn't know. I have a whole new respect for ballerina. I come out of that class as sweaty as hot yoga! She definitely earns 5 stars for her classes and she starts and ends on time! She wants you to get your money's worth ;-) Now Ellen's is not cheap, but you have class variety ( many more which I did not review) with mostly top notch instructors who really coach and guide you as would a trainer. Membership starts at $99 for 8 classes or you can pay per class or buy packages. Honestly, for the variety and the instructors which are great- the bang for the buck is pretty great. I would highly recommend them!!! I pay for Ellen's on top of my gym membership because usually classes at the gym are just blah...meh...so you get what you pay for. First class is always free, so I would encourage you to give them a try!!! Overall, the facility is kept very clean. The location is in Davie right off of University slightly South of Griffin. I drive all the way from Sunrise as I love their facility and instructors that much. I just hop on the turnpike to Griffin and head West on over there! I will work to add more photo's to my review soon too :-)

I joined Ellen's in April with the Weight Loss Challenge held by Bea. My 1st month I lost 10 lbs, My 2nd month I lost 4 pant sizes. I couldn't believe it! Every instructor is great and looks out for you. They want you to do your best, they care about you and want you to see results. I have done things I thought I couldn't do. I have been pushed by the best for my best to do my best. I love coming to Ellen's. Stop driving by and come on in. You will love it!!

Yoga Joint was like my second home and I got along great with the instructors and made sure I was super sweet to the managers and front desk employees. However, over time it became really corporate and impersonal, the classes felt like you were just part of some factory assembly line and the front desk employee turnaround really took a toll on the customer service. Last summer I received a phone call from a manager, Vanesa Gentile, stating that I should probably cancel my membership because I'm 'unsafe' for asking the front desk employees if it's their job to fix the lockers that weren't working properly as they stared at me blankly when I asked for help finding a locker that worked. After trying to discuss this with the higher ups and receiving the corporate runaround, I promptly canceled my membership. I am so glad that the staff was able to return to their safe space! I knew I HAD to get my joints moving again and to regain the sense of calm and rhythm that yoga can bring to one's life. I needed the nurturing of my yogi-sisters again. I started by attending some of the on-line/remote classes in the privacy of my own home. This was an excellent place to begin as I am very self conscience of the weight I've gained and my lack of flexibility. No one to see me struggle, no one to see my pudgy gut. There are many styles of yoga offered at ShineOn and I have chosen to attend those classes that are "Low & Slow" (my term) so that I don't strain this old body of mine. I am partial to the Restorative/Yin class offered on-line on Monday mornings and the Yin/Restorative flow on Thursdays, both lead by Cynthia. Both of those classes are ideal for anyone who wants to stretch those muscles and get those joints fluid, so I encourage anyone who is a little out of shape to start there. As I get stronger and more confident again, I'll start attending the 'flow' classes regularly too. Ashtanga, VInyasa and Kundalini classes are offered as well - and even some classes in Spanish! But meanwhile I'll cautiously build my practice with the gentle and nurturing "Low & Slow" classes at ShineOn. And as a result, I'll be better at practicing patience with myself too as I transition.

She was my 1st instructor who is knowledgeable great energy and for her early morning sessions keeps you smiling while making it burn! Eva - Energetic, fun, and engaging. It's a path that leads me to a spiritual enlightenment, building the best of myself, finding my purpose of life and experiencing feelings of happiness at any time. This is what I experienced with Sampoorna Yoga. Sampoorna Yoga is integral, which fulfill different types of yoga: Hatha, Raja, Karma, Bhakti, Jnana and Nada. I experienced every day plenty of energy, even though I woke up everyday at 5 am and went to bed around midnight after reading my book, my body was more energized than ever. I opened my heart to receive all the wisdom given by Guru Hari and I experienced a high spiritual level. He is a book of knowledge. I am grateful of his honesty and the straightforward way he teaches. There were two intense weeks absorbing the history of the yoga, alignments and meditations. I focused myself in learning, reading and paying attention. I developed more discipline, patience and happiness. I was delighted by Rasa with her lovely voice singing mantras and playing all the instruments at the same time. Her food is deliciously amazing! I admire her, she is a hard worker during the day and elegant lady during the satsang. Rama, the teacher is pure love, disciplined, he was an inspiration for all the students. Yogi Hari's Ashram is a place surrounded by Nature and it's designed to grow up spiritually, is not for vacation to go to hang out. Far away from being a religious temple, they teach the philosophy of Yoga and essentially how to be a happy being and joyful from the inside out. I read some Reviews here in Yelp and this is my opinion... - "Accommodations offer not luxury": this is correct! Yogi Hari's Ashram instead offers plenty of deep spiritual knowledge which is impossible to find in a fancy Studio. This is not a Four Season Hotel or a vacational rental place. This is surrounded by Nature and it's designed to grow up spiritually, not to go to hang out. Life is about choosing what you like better: an organic small healthy apple or a big one full of hormones. - "The owner is a little angry man": we are free to see a reflection of ourselves in others. Most of the time we mirror our attitude in others. I think he talks direct, straight and firm. He has unlimited wisdom. It doesn't matter how a person speaks, what matters is if you have the capacity to absorbe the knowledge. Simple rule in life: Do not take it personally. We should always remember our moms, sometimes she speaks sweet and strong when is needed. - "Religious cult": this is a philosophy, far away from being religious. It doesn't matter if you are catholic, buddhist, etc. This is a path to find Enlightenment, happiness, joy and to be healthy from the inside out. I highly recommend this place. I am so glad I did it. Someone had to bring his attention to acknowledge me but he just looked at me and didn't ask for my name like the other two women. The satsang was beautiful. Afterwards, he gave a talk on the importance of health. The first time he acknowledged me was when he looked directly at me and asked me if " i knew what a blunt was?" So weird. After the satsang he asked if anyone had questions. I asked if they had other events throughout the month. He mentioned the yoga teacher training.
