Nice sushi bar in a good spot next to several gates, I didnt eat anything but just drank a few airport beers while waiting for my flight. They only had 1 lady working from what I could tell & she was taking care of everyone at the bar AND in the seated dining area but she was making it work. The bar stools are way too close with no room in between them so you're gonna be touching whoever is seated next to you. The pricing of this place was a bit too high in my opinion. We were greeted pretty quickly and grabbed the last available table. It's pretty close quarters so it was a bit hard to sit comfortably with our carry on bags with us that we had to keep shuffling to the side when people walked by. We shared endamame and I had miso soup and a Philadelphia roll. The endamame was the highlight of my meal and the miso soup was the low point. That leaves the Philadelphia roll in the middle of my rating scale. It was good but, I like when my sushi is cold; this was room temperature. The ingredients were good though and the salmon was good quality, especially for an airport restaurant. The service took a little long and we looked at our cell phones a couple times to check the time so we didn't miss our connecting flight. read more

Not sure if this place is understaffed or what, but the attitudes of this staff could use some leadership guidance. One lady behind the tempura prep counter actually rolled her eyes when our party of three tried to troubleshoot a table for ourselves....because it seemed they were uninterested in solving this for us. If they are understaffed, then we grant them grace & appreciate them (which is why it's two star rather than one). The waitress/hostess WAS busting a move, but she was the ONLY one. The cooks, prep chefs, and bartender were less than speedy. Lynette literally moved from a seat around the corner of the low bar, into one of the seats our hostess was planning to sit us, to sit and do work. And her attitude towards us, her customers, that pay her salary, was horrific. Please spend some time to develop her customer service skills. BTW: we waited for 30 mins being told "give me a minute and I'll seat you at (the low bar), let me clean it first." February 15th of 2019, when I was looking and waiting for my flight, saw this place. I am a big fan of Ramen. Wherever I go, I like to try Ramen. Didn't check any reviews on yelp. I sat there and ordered Tonkotsu Ramen & Salmon roll. I was sitting right on side of prep area where I could see them preparing and making rolls for me. I don't how much often they clean the prep area. Something didn't seem right. Maybe it was my misconception. And there it was my ramen. They brought my ramen. Let me tell you. Ramen here isn't worth eating. Cost: $15. Ramen noodles wasn't washed properly by the warm water. Seems to me they brought noodles from the freezer and put the warm broth on top of it. Boiled eggs was from the factory which I could tell because it was hard in comparison to normal home boiled eggs. Pork wasn't cooked well. It was raw. This place is not good for quality food. So, my suggestions to all the air passengers is that bring some chips or cookies if you wanna eat in the airport. read more

I know it's airport prices / quality but this was disappointing. Service- it was moderately busy, maybe 65% capacity. I was noticed after about 7 or 8 minutes. Not a big concern as I was getting acclimated to airport sushi prices. I eat predominantly sushi on business, mainly because it's healthy, tastes good and I'm not paying for it. From the initial wait it was standard. Not exactly friendly but got the job done. Quality- I ordered the chefs selection which was 4 pieces of nigiri. 1 tuna, 1 salmon, 1 hamachi, 1 escolar. The slices were very thin, narrow and short. The rice was undercooked and over portioned. The fish was drier than normal which gave it less texture but the flavor was fine. Generally I like warm sake in cold days. This was a cold rainy day and the menu had one sake option listed as cold/hot. The waitress said they couldn't heat it. Not a problem, would have been nice but I'll enjoy it regardless. The sake came in a partially filled water glass which was a first. It was easy to keep them separate by having a straw in my water without ice. Value- pretty low value but it's an airport. Water is $3 a bottle. The sake was actually only $9 which is a decent deal for $9 considering it's $8 generally for similar brand. The sushi was $4 per nigiri which for those sizes is ridiculous even for an airport. At a minimum they could have good quality or increase portion. In general, you can see from my sushi reviews I'm almost always very pleased and can't remember a bad review. Then we sat ourselves down at the bar and asked the same waitress if that was okay. She was rude saying, "That's fine." Then she proceeded to wait on other customers for another 10 more min. I sat at an open seat at the sushi bar (which I checked with a staff member to make sure it was fine), and had to wait some time before a server came with a menu or acknowledged me, no worries, it was busy due to all of the delays. I ordered the Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll and a glass of wine. The Tuna Roll was literally smothered in so much Spicy Mayo, you couldn't even taste the Tuna. And the roll was not tight and layered well, so it was almost impossible to eat a piece whole with chopsticks. Not great for a place specializing in their sushi rolls. I walked in here during lunch time on a Monday, right in the middle of delta's #techfail fiasco. The place was half empty, but the servers would make no eye contact to get me seated. Finally one server informed my while walking past me that it was open seating. Waited for 15 minutes to get a menu, which was unceremoniously dumped on me without a word or a glass of water. The menu consisted of a used sushi marking sheet - which had been used by multiple people before - evident from the multiple pen and pencil markings on it. Umaizushi sushi restaurant can be found in the middle of Terminal C at Atlanta's Hartsfield International Airport. This is a little Japanese restaurant with a handful of tables and chairs, and then a smattering of seats at the sushi bar. I was there during the week, and before the mid-day lunch rush, and so there were still plenty of open seats in the restaurant. By my count, there were at least three people working behind the sushi counter, and four servers circulating around the floor. I had great hopes for a quick meal, but that was not to be the case. I ordered a very standard seaweed salad, and then two sushi rolls. The wakame salad was good, but it was painfully slow to be prepared and delivered to my seat at the sushi bar. Little did I know that the rolls would take even longer.... My first roll was a basic spicy tuna roll which is normally diced up tuna, mixed with a Sriracha spicy sauce, rolled up with scallions, and served inside out with the rice on the outside of the roll. My second roll was a house special called the Spanish Dynamite roll. That was Hamachi tuna, regular tuna, spicy crab, shallots, cilantro, sliced jalapenos on top, and served with a Ponzu sauce. It looked great, but it should not have taken over 30 minutes to prepare and deliver these two rolls. The sushi was good and fresh, the rolls were visually appealing, but I thought that the speed of service was way out of line. I have no idea if they were having a bad day, training new chefs, or if Scorpio was rising through the house of Jupiter. Regardless, it was painfully slow, and thankfully I did not miss my connecting flight. Word of warning, let your server know about your time constraints, and be prepared to wait. If you're in a hurry, there are plenty of other options in the terminal. read more

Yes, I know, it is sushi at the airport but hear me out. Decided to try this on the way out of Atlanta as my colleague was in the mood for sushi. Seeing that they also had a selection of ramen dishes we decided to do a mix of two different sushi rolls and ramen. The pork ramen (Tonkotsu) was fairly disappointing. While the pork was fatty it was also extremely overcooked (basically chard) and the ramen noodles tasted pretty much as heated from a pack of Top Ramen. Boiled egg was too done. Having had good ramen, and knowing where this has missed the mark, while edible it was pretty pricey given the portion and quality. The sushi rolls were decent. Again being at the airport I don't expect the highest quality fish and the rolls delivered on just that. Having basically a roll, ramen, and seltzer the price I paid to what I received was unfortunately disappointing. Couldn't find another Asian joint in this section of the airport so I planted myself here. They are quick to sit you but the rest... I should've read reviews before sitting down. I ordered the spider roll and toro roll, both came with a huge chunk of fish and soft-shelled crab. The rolls tasted fine but the wasabi was almost cake like.l and came with too much rice. The super dry wasabi was enough to ruin my rolls. And to top it of I was served a very flat Coke served in a broken glass.
