I lived in Hawaii for about 3 years and this is probably some of the most flavorful chicken katsu I've had since coming back to the mainland US. The rice cooked to perfection, the chicken, veggies, fried egg, all seasoned and bursting flavor onto your tongue. We arrived and there was a wait, and we were told we couldn't sit at the bar and eat, but when we eventually got seated, we saw numerous people walk up and sit at the bar and were able to order food and drink. I don't usually eat onion tempura because it is usually undercooked, these were great! The dipping sauce was good but heavy on the ginger. Miso soup 5/5 some of the best I had. So soothing. Very nice balance of flavor. Salad 3/5 iceberg lettuce with good Asian dressing. Nothing that would bring me back. Dumplings 4/5. Good not amazing. California roll 3/5 not bad but not great. I enjoyed my bento box dinner here tonight. I had sesame chicken with a delicious dry N.A. beer. The waitress was nice, but very busy. I had to ask for my California roll, which didn't come with wasabi or ginger. I was a little confused by that, but since it came late, I didn't follow up. The tempura was tasty, the sesame chicken tangy and sweet. Ginger dressing with an iceberg lettuce salad and a light miso soup. Good meal overall, but I know next time to ask for wasabi and ginger. As a non drinker, my N.A. beer paired perfectly with my meal, and the waitress' recommendation of the sesame chicken bento was perfect for my first time here. I just left. My friend and I love coming here for the sushi and have always had a great experience when Val is bartending. However, the bartender working today, 9/18/25 is always so rude. She never acknowledges us when we are there. I showed up first today and she looked right at me as I sat down and didn't say one word to me. Not a "hi" or "I'll be right with you" nothing. I waited for what felt like forever as she chatted up the guy sitting a few seats down from me. She finally brought over a water but at that point I was already texting my friend letting her know who was bartending and since we both never have a good time with her working we decided to go somewhere else.
