At other sushi restaurant 3 rolls is already $30+, but with this all you can eat you can eat as much as you like! INCLUDING SASHIMI! We have gone to Umiya so many times and have had very few problems. yesterday we went, and there was a server I hadn't seen before. We ordered our first round of food. 20 minutes later, she came back to see if we needed more food. we explained that we hadn't gotten our food yet, and she rolled her eyes and walked away. she came back with some of our food, and slammed it on the table and walked away. still, we didn't get all of our food. we were going to let her know, but she would not come back to our table. finally after about 50 minutes, we asked a different server for the soup we never got and he immediately brought it out. the people at the table next to us asked us "is she slamming stuff on y'all's table too?" and they continued to say that she seemed to have an attitude with them. i eventually asked for a manager which I almost never do because I'm not confrontational, and 20 minutes later still didn't see a manager. I had to go up to the front and ask someone else for a manager and immediately one came to us. his response was "I'll get you another waiter". mind you, we had been there for over an hour and a half so we were almost done anyways. when we got a new waiter, our waitress got very angry and was giving us horrible looks. when we went to check out, our bill was almost $50 more than normal even after a military discount. I tried looking at the charges, but the waiter kept pulling the screen away. we paid and left so that we could just get out of there. I have never had such a bad experience there. we are very patient people and completely understand when places are busy, but intentionally ignoring our table, no communication, extreme attitude, slamming things on our table, and "forgetting" numerous things throughout our dinner was very frustrating. read more

This would have easily been a 5 star review if the system worked a little better. They were very slow and seemed like a bit of confusion and lack of knowledge of sushi terms. I happened to be in the Kingwood area and tried this AYCE sushi/hibachi/teriyaki place. For $30.95, I had an excellent meal. The service was great, considering that the restaurant was busy at the time. The staff were friendly and courteous. I've read other reviews and some complained of loud noise. But this is understandable. I personally prefer quiet ambiance, but Umiya is an AYCE place, so it probably attracts families with young children, and of course children would make some noise. But no big deal. If you want an excellent value for your money, this is a great place. read more

The decoration is out of this world for a restaurant (I like the ceiling, I'm partial to cool looking ceilings but honestly that's just a bonus to the experience), the staff are quick and efficient even when my grandpa kept asking easily solvable questions and telling bad jokes every other minute, the food is very flavorful (Especially the seafood soup!). The food (In the all you can eat) comes in smaller portions for everything except sushi rolls (Cause it's a roll) so if you're not the biggest sushi fan I recommend you request more plates at once so that you get your fill! The lunch menu (AYCE) is cheaper than the dinner one, though it does have less options it has the same portion sizes. The boba's all come in one size and are relatively expensive IMO (But I only have the cheap stuff from HEB that comes in a can and is gross) but worth the cost! read more

We have gone to this location for close to 20yrs as Asian City and were sad to see it go. After hearing from some about their experiences we decided to give Umiya a few months to get on their feet and get the kinks worked out. We made hibachi reservations for a Saturday at 7:30pm with a party of (6). The new lobby was much more open and welcoming. As soon as our entire party had arrived they seated us promptly. While walking to the table a large portion of the floor was very sticky and in the hibachi area it was very slippery (had to help my wife to her seat). The cooktop itself was not clean and the other couple we were with mentioned their portion of the table and menus were needing to be wiped down. Twice during the meal at the next tables after clearing they were sprayed down with straight Fabuloso floor cleaner. Took breath away and eyes burn. Service was polite and accurate but very slow. The chef at one point had to radio for clearing dishes when we had to start putting empties at the next table. The ratio of hospitality to wait staff was around 3 to 1. Appetizers and the food at the hibachi was really good. Chef served a great meal and delivered a good show. Our meal had to wrap up shortly after the chef had finished due to cleaning of another table next to us with the floor cleaner and my kids getting nauseous and headaches. Very sad to see the old Asian City replaced. Not happy with the replacement. Poor experience, would not recommend. read more

The hostess asked if we were doing the all you can eat or hibachi. We said neither just ordering off the menu. She brought us to a table where you would have larger parties. Lots of screaming kids and you could hear the hibachi tables right behind us. The waitstaff was excellent. The appetizer wasn't at all like it was described on the menu. My sashimi was good. Had to try out the new AYCE sushi in Humble! The renovation from Asian city looks amazing on the inside and the habachi is still available with AYCE tables in the center. Drinks were cheap and good! We thought the new interior was super cute. Overall the AYCE experience was great and we will definitely be back. The sashimi tasted great and the appetizers were good too! The rolls were also great and the fish tasted fresh. Everything was presented super cute as well. The only negative is that while we were here for a birthday dinner as a group of 6 people at one table (who love sushi) the waiter told us we were only allowed to order 20 pieces of sashimi at a time, which split between 6 people is not a lot when you have to order and wait for a new round. They were pretty quick though so we will still be back, just take into account for larger groups I guess. Overall it was a great experience! read more
