Uncle Dood's Donuts are a breath of fresh air in a area where someone thinks Shoprite boxed donuts are good. This gem of a place is located on Robbins Street and create the donuts - well the dipped/toppings on the donuts as you place your order. The base donuts are made fresh daily. I appreciate the fact that the staff always ask for any specific food allergy questions when they take your order. I stop Uncle Dood's for a box of 9 donuts for my mother when I am in town. And I always have to "sample a few" while I drive back to my Mother's house. If your are in the Toms River area, stop by for individual donuts or a box to go. You will not be disappointed. read more

This place makes donuts literally right in front of you, so you know they are fresh. They are probably not like any donut you've had before: crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside, and that's without any of the unique toppings. They remind me a lot of funnel cake or zeppoles, and when you add the toppings, they are just mind blowing. They are much better when they are hot, right out of the fryer, but they are still plenty good after a few hours! The owners are super friendly too...makes you feel that much better about eating donuts! Sometimes it gets really busy, so I'd recommend calling ahead with your order if you're in a rush, otherwise there are benches outside you can sit on. read more

Good God. Here's a place that knows what they're doing. Uncle Dood's serves up the best donuts anywhere, especially if you're up for crazy combinations. The Vermont Swine (bacon maple) is absolutely delicious; my favorite diet-destroying indulgence the world over. The Violet Beauregard (blueberry) is also excellent. As for the donuts, this is my personal taste, but I prefer the plain, powdered sugar, and cinnamon sugar donuts. The other flavors, while creative, are overkill; the basic donut is that good. I feel like a jerk for posting this, but I didn't really enjoy the doughnuts so much. There was a lot of hype for these doughnuts in downtown Toms River so a friend and i decided to check it out. We got a half dozen doughnuts to share with each other lol. They have really creative and unique toppings but my big gripe is that all the doughnuts are made with the same cinnamon doughy batter. The doughnuts are very cakey so if you like cinnamon and cakey doughnuts you'll like these. I prefer my doughnuts more airy, like Krispy Kreme. It was just too heavy and I got bored of the same doughnut with different icing. Sometimes they have special doughnuts like cannoli stuffed doughnuts but they don't make hem all the time so call ahead! I haven't tried them yet but I'm sure they're delicious. Amazing donuts!!! I normally don't prefer to eat donuts for breakfast just because donuts are too sweet for me as a breakfast food. I picked some donuts up the other day for my daughter and husband and I tried one, I have to say they're absolutely delectable!!! After my first donut I regret not buying more to take home. I love Uncle Dood's Donuts. They're warm, cakey, and delicious. I've never had a problem with them and would have never consider giving them anything less than 5 stars. Every doughnut i've had from them has been delicious. The only reason this is getting three stars is because of my most recent experience here. Came on a Saturday around 11 AM. Waited 20 minutes in line to order 10 doughnuts.. they told me they'd be ready in 20 minutes after that. 40 minutes for a doughnut? A little crazy. However, we ended up having to wait 40 minutes for the doughnuts and the total transaction took an hour. No doughnut is worth an hour wait. I understand the demand for them but they had two guys working on a Saturday 4th of July Weekend and it just was at such a slow pace and there did not seem to be any urgency to it. I do not think I will be coming here again in the summer and will have to go during a less busy season if i desire to have them again. Otherwise, I will just go to one of the many other great doughnut shops in the area and pass on Uncle Dood's. read more

Genuine people who are making a great product. Great coffee and phenomenal doughnuts. I grew up on Ob-Cos and was heading there for a doughnut fix, but stopped at Uncle Dood's instead. It was a weekday and not too crowded, so I had the chance to speak to the owner and hear the background story of the store. I'm so glad I stopped and am now officially converted from Obcos. I liked the jersey devil the best (chocolate and spice). The others were fabulous too. I forget exactly what they were, but one had Cherry vanilla filling and it felt like a carnival in my mouth when I was eating it. It was sensory overload. read more
