It is as good as people say it is. I would say the best donuts in Ocean and Monmouth county and ya girl loves donuts. I love that the owner is almost always present, you can tell because the quality is constant and always the same delicious donuts coming out. The flavors are unique and unbeatable. Hands down the best donuts in the area. When I used to work in downtown TR, our office would get Dood's for special occasions or "just because" sometimes. Such a savory sweet treat in the morning and there is always a friendly face smiling at you when you walk in the door. I believe they only take cash so hit the ATM before you go. We visited Uncle Dood's this morning and it met our expectations and then some. The donuts were cooked perfectly. Soft and cakey in the middle with a light crunch on the outside. The icing/toppings were amazing as well. The staff was entertaining and helpful. We will most definitely be back. read more

This place is great, they serve the best doughnuts I have ever had. Granted, I haven't tried every doughnut in the world, but these are phenomenal. The selection is limited to about a dozen varieties, which change month by month. I guess if I was partial to a specific kind and it wasn't available sometimes I'd be peeved, but there are enough varieties to keep it interesting. They take suggestions, too, lets see if my peanut butter and pretzel makes the cut. It seems a bit pricey (one for $1.50, nine for $10.00), but I found them to be completely worth it after my first bite. Do yourself a favor, try them out. read more

My family and I live in Pennsylvania, but vacation in the summer in Ocean Gate. We are used to having donuts at Yum Yum's, which are AWESOME, compared to Dunkin Donuts. We are big donut lovers and usually have them on the weekend as a breakfast treat! Coming down the shore in the summer, we have no where to get good donuts. Dunkin Donuts is not that great and the supermarkets are blah! My husband spotted this place out of the corner of his eye one weekend and told me to look it up. It received rave reviews from everyone that had gone in to taste the donuts, so I thought, what the heck! It is a small little joint. Right when you walk in you watch donuts coming out of the machine, all crispy and brown, mmmmmm!!! Then they have flavors of the month, which you can switch up or mix and match. My husband and son are lovers of vanilla cream filled, but they did not have any cream filled donuts. No worries, I purchased 9 donuts and they even threw in a tenth for free!! The flavors I purchased were French toast, Death by Chocolate, Reese's Peanut Butter Cup, Chocolate glazed with Oreo crumbs, Vanilla glazed with Oreo crumbs, Jersey Devil, and a Powered. When I got home, my husband and son were in AWEEEEE!!! We tasted the donuts and they were Fresh, Crispy, Delicious!!!!!!! OMG!!! My husband asked if they were open tomorrow, since it is Saturday and tomorrow is Sunday, ha ha ha. Please, Please, go and try them out! You will not be disappointed!! We need to keep local businesses like this open! The staff was so nice and very down to earth! I immediately took a picture of the donuts and sent it via a text to my mom and dad, for when they come down next. We will be back, probably tomorrow, LOL! read more

Customer service could have been better. I was very disappointed with my experience this morning. I wanted my family to enjoy one dozen of their donuts from their menu. I specifically asked for no duplicates and based on what they told me, 12 different donuts was definitely possible. Maybe it's my fault for not checking the box before I left the store, but when i got home, I was extremely disappointed to find only 6 different types (six pairs of 2), not the twelve I had asked for or was promised. I would have thought this would have been considered a simple request. I guess I was wrong. read more

Been meaning to go here for a long time but never had cash on me (they're cash only). Finally got in last weekend, got two boxes of 9 assorted (have them pick! You won't regret it) They were all sooooo good: one was flavored like a tequila shot (sounds strange, was delicious), one had cereal on it (awesome, way better than Voodoo donuts), even the simple ones were great. Seriously delicious donuts....stopped in for 4 as we were visiting relatives and didn't know it was cash only and that was all the cash we had. But we made sure we got cash and came back for 9 the next day to bring back to Ohio! The cake texture of the donuts is sheer perfection, light on the inside, perfectly cakey on the outside and every flavor we tried was delicious, the basil one OMG who knew it could be so heavenly. I was afraid maybe they would be overly sweet, but no,how they got the flavors just right is their secret magic. The cinnamon was delectable, one of the "plainer" ones, but it was the best I have ever had....go and indulge, life is way too short to not enjoy these treats, sit down with a nice cup of coffee or tea and taste the best donuts ever! read more

Amazing!!!! We went here several times while vacationing in Lavalette. Well worth the drive, and although I have been told the lines are long, we didn't have to wait any of the times we visited. The donuts are made to order and delicious! Check out their monthy menu on FB before you go so you have time to choose your favorites. The menu changes, but they also keep the favorites as well. Uncle Doods is the best doughnuts around! I wouldn't even consider going to Obcos after having Uncle Doods. Amazing doughnuts, creative flavor combinations, and incredible sweet staff. They do get totally packed on the weekends though so I do recommend calling ahead of time and placing an order to be picked up! Also, parking is weird.. there are only two spots in front of their shop and it's so annoying trying to find parking sometimes that I just don't go. Yum! These are unlike any other donuts I've ever had. I love trying their unusual toppings (my favs are bed rockin' and pretzilla), but the more traditional donuts are very tasty too. A previous reviewer complained about having to call in orders in advance and not being able to purchase less than a 9-donut box. This has not been my experience. Several times I have gone in when they are busy and been able to get a small order (4 donuts) without having to call in an order. I do try to call in advance whenever possible though. Gotta appreciate that they're really serious about serving only freshly made donuts! read more

Owner is a really nice guy, very personable. All the staff seems friendly. Never been there on the weekends, but heard it really gets crowded so be prepared. Always fresh donuts and you can actually see them being made at times. Donuts are very tasty and they really come up with some creative toppings. $1.50 per donut and $10.00 for 9. While chains may be cheaper, remember you get what you pay for and these are so much better than chain type donuts. Only bad thing is the parking. There are two spots in front, but both are metered and than there are lots which are also metered, this is the only reason I could not rate it five stars. The people running this place are so nice! I stopped in on the morning of a holiday....Thanksgiving maybe? After carefully selecting my donuts I learned they were cash only. They made the donuts fresh-to-order and then encouraged me to leave with them without paying. I of course circled back with the cash. The Beach Sand is pretty basic compared to some of their other offerings but I really liked it. I think their selection rotates. Give them a try! read more
