I really love coming here! They have a lot of imported Italian products as well as commercial brands found in other supermarkets. I love their bakery section! This is not your typical mediocre supermarket bakery though. Their cakes and small baked goods are bakery quality good. Customer Service is also excellent here. I had bought a coconut custard pie, and not sure what happened but it tasted off. I wrote them an email and they not only wanted to offer me a refund, but they wanted me to give me another pie on top of that. A few times when I went on Saturdays, they also have a guy singing live by the checkout area. I think their prices are more than fair, and competitive with other grocery stores. read more

Had to get a pre made turkey dinner, which was fine. The only bad thing with this turkey meal was the gravy ! Tasty but so salty!!!! I couldn't eat the turkey due to how salty the gravy made it! This place is fantastic there is every variety of food that you can imagine in this place the cleanliness is definitely on point with this supermarket everybody is willing to help you. The food bar especially the eggplant Parmesan was delicious try the barbecue ribs they were awesome I'm also a fan of their chicken marsala and their chicken parm with the rice balls .the meat is definitely cheap I am such a fan of their Seafood .As far as the vegetables they are very fresh and price reasonably going into the desert section which I think is iCandy you want to buy everything because it looks so good but a bit pricey overall experience is a A+. read more

Hands Down My Favorite Supermarket PERIOD! The food they sell is unlike anything sold anywhere else in the area. From the cold cut department to the butchers, from the seafood to the hot foods...lets not forget about the incredible bakery & dessert sections of the store! The prices are on the high side but the product being offered isn't sold in stores around. Majority of the workers are friendly but did have a run in with a nasty man in the Seafood Department a few weeks ago. Some of my favorite things to buy here are- Freshly made Magic Pop (low calorie treat), Biscotti Cookies, Charlotte Russe Cup, Salami with Mold, The Many Cheeses & Olives sold here, Stuffed Artichokes plus soooo many more items! And lets not forget about the Torrone! I enjoy coming to this location, yes it's pricey but the food sold here is amazing and very hard to find elsewhere. read more

I really don't know what's up with the bakery. I went there on 2 separate occasions. The first time the rainbow cookies and lemon bar thing were awful. The second time I got a pound of rainbow cookies and they were so old that the outside was hard and a darker hue. The other cookies tasted like everything in that fridge. It's hard to explain but it's that taste when something is left open in the fridge and it takes on the smells etc of the other foods. Everything was just gross. The staff is nice and I'm sure it's not their fault because they aren't allowed to throw things out. But those rainbow cookies?! C'mon uncle giuseppes.... I'm so happy this place is near me so that I can partake in that the goodness it has to offer. However, there are caveats. #1 caveat is that this place is expensive. If you plan on doing ALL your grocery shopping here, you WILL go broke. For me, Uncle Giuseppe's is a location where I spot shop....if I need something specific that they specialize in, I'll get it there. Their deli counter, their soups, fresh mozarella, the meats, the seafood, the bakery, etc. I'll get that food there all the time. However, I will not shop there for paper products, condiments, milk, eggs, etc. It just adds up too quick. If you can get past the fact that is indeed expensive, you will understand that at a minimum you do get what you pay for. The quality is top notch. I love their fresh fruits that are already cut up. The fresh donuts, the fresh squeezed orange juice, the live opera singers on the weekends, etc. It's an experience for sure. One MAJOR pet peeve of mine of this place is that they provide two types of shopping carts. A small variety and a mega sized variety. The mega sized shopping cart does NOT belong in that store. The aisles are too narrow and when that place gets crowded like it does, it's a major pain in the rear to navigate in that store, even if you don't have a cart, because you're trying to dodge everyone else that is using the mega cart to do all their expensive grocery shopping. If I had ONE suggestion, it is to eliminate the mega carts in favor of the smaller carts. If you insist on the mega carts, then widen the aisles, and don't put so much crap (merchandise) in the way. I mean the amount and variety of delicious prepared foods, along with the boars head cold cuts (we don't get boars head in Cali), the memories of all this delicious food was overwhelming. I had a work lunch party today and I brought dessert from Uncle G's. Long story short, if you want to be the popular kid at work or you just want to make people happy, the desserts here are amazing. I got the cannoli dip, which is a platter of chocolate chip cannoli cream for dip and crushed up cannoli shells for the dip. It was such a hit! Great way to preserve the shells, too, since otherwise cannolis will get soggy if you get a pre-filled shell. And real Italians will scoff at the fact that you bought a pre-filled cannoli (just sayin!). The supermarket smells so delicious when you walk in. You automatically want to eat and buy everything in sight. I had to check myself before I grabbed everything my heart desired. I went in to pick up dessert, and I came out with some cooked food to have for dinner as well as some frozen store made pesto ravioli. So good! read more

Well because sometimes you're a little too overpriced and sometimes you're just way too crowded to the point where I can't even get my little self down the aisle with cart or basket in tow. Though I have to say... you are the place where my household typically gets all of our fresh meat except for sausage and a bulk of our produce. The sausage will always come from the Ronkonkoma Pork Store and I will never cheat on them. I'm sorry but it's the God's honest truth. Also... most of your "prepared" food that I've tried isn't worth all the hype. But your chopped salad station and your pizza area with the Grandma pizza with the pesto drizzle and the Alps pizza with the zucchini and onion are rocking. Oh and Olive Bar.... HelloOo Olives! Not sure how I can actually relate the incredible-ness of this place. Suffice to say that it has everything for everyone...especially if you are Italian! Or just if you love Italian food. Gotta mention the ambiance. This place does it RIGHT. From the moment you walk in nostalgic Christmas music is in the air, along with the fragrance of homemade mozzarella, a candy bar complete with three chocolate fountains, and a myriad of things baking and bubbling and just delicious. To the left as you walk in is the deli counter/hot food counter. Don't get me wrong, I usually do NOT recommend buying food this way. But as I've already said, they do it right somehow. You can buy all sorts of ready made items by the pound, stuffed mushrooms (just like my Sicilian grandpa used to make at christmas time!) rice balls, meat balls (3 types!), lasagne, ravioli, stuffed cabbage, you name it, they might have it. Also sometimes overlooked is the soup bar. We chose the homemade chicken n dumpling soup and it was fantastic. Tasted like it had just been made and spiced just right. First time we ever tried homemade mozzarella, and I'm a FAN! They have it smoked or lightly salted (we tried the lightly salted) and I never understood why people liked it till we tasted it. In the bakery section (everything freshly baked daily) we kept buying their mini cannoli's and other confections that my aunt doesn't get anymore. Tons of things to choose from including NY cheesecake and all of it superb. Last thing I feel I must mention is the level of customer service. I'm a firm believer in good customer service and these people are on a level with Nordstroms or the Ritz Carlson. Those who know me know I appreciate that. Italian Market. I am generally not a fan of Uncle Giuseppe's mostly due to the exorbitant prices here. This is tempered by the pretty amazing selection of items that they have for sale as well as the different departments such as the ready to eat foods, the cheeses and the sweet meat and seafood areas. The downside is the cost on many of these items is ridiculous... you have to stick to the sale items, which is very hard with all the appealing goods, but if you start impulse buying, you are gonna get walloped at the register. A few weeks ago, I posted my one-star review of a Shoprite supermarket in Hauppauge, NY, just 2 miles from this Giuseppe's. As I have discontinued my shopping at that store, I thought it might be constructive to review this Giuseppe's as an alternative. This is a full-service supermarket with a diverse array of both local and international foods. I was particularly impressed with the extensive prepared-foods section; and the large, in-house bakery. From the bakery, the fresh rolls and bagels were exceptional, as were the carrot cake and the chocolate brownies. From the prepared foods section, the chicken-meatballs and the Italian-style meatballs were very good. One thing that distinguishes this store from some of the other markets is their customer service. I've stopped at the desk on several occasions, and the service was attentive at all times. In reviews of the aforementioned "one-star" supermarket, some shoppers have cited that store's low prices as the reason behind their continued loyalty. However, I would argue that when comparing "apples-to-apples," the Giuseppe's may (over the long term) end up as the less expensive option. For example, the mold-infested lemon drop cookies that I purchased at the "one-star" store were available in this Giuseppe's for 50 cents more (but without the mold). To save that 50 cents at the "cheaper" store, I had to: (a) drive to the store at my expense in an effort to exchange the moldy item, (b) waste a half-hour of my time standing at the service desk with the moldy item, and (c) throw the moldy cookies in the trash after being denied an exchange. Based on my observations, when an item purchased at this Giuseppe's is defective, the customer receives an apology and an exchange, and is out of the store in a matter of seconds with the replacement item. Overall, I think this store has earned a customer. I would recommend Giuseppe's to others that have been shopping nearby and might be interested in a superior customer service experience. read more

But, WHY do the guys who are in the mozzarella area using bare hands to stuff the mozzarella balls. Who does that pre- or post-COVID? Very disappointed. Three stars for the quality of the food; 1 star for their customer service department. I ordered several bakery items for delivery on Christmas Eve. I specifically made mention to ring the bell because there was ice cream in the order as well. About 45 minutes after they were supposed to get here, I checked and there on my stoop sat 2 packages 1 with melting ice cream; 1 with nothing of the rest of my order. I called and someone was checking on it and lo and behold I got cut off. Tried calling again for a straight hour with no luck (I get it; it's Christmas Eve - their busy) but when I did get through I was told QUITE RUDELY she would leave a message and someone would call me back on SUNDAY - that didn't help me with dessert for tomorrow!!! I asked if someone could just redeliver the order (it was DoorDash) and she said she was busy. $110 worth of bakery products not enough to spend????? Bottom line - will never use their delivery service/DoorDash again = which they charged me a delivery fee AND I gave a pretty generous tip on the order. We planned a party for our Dad's 97th birthday on October 30, 2021 from out of state, and from day one Julianna and Lindsay in the catering department were nothing short of wonderful! They took care of all of our needs (and then some) and were so friendly and courteous throughout the whole process. The other day I went into the Port Jefferson location specifically for "Linguini with White Clam Sauce". We love it from here and eat all of it, but I couldn't find any in case. This was the second or third time this has happened- I asked the man behind the counter, he said they had none but if I would wait he would make one for me! HECK YEAH! He OFFERED to make a fresh one just for me and 10 minutes of wandering the bakery, I had a hot, fresh tin of the stuff, bursting with little clammies and garlic, for what? $30, 25$, $20 NO 12.99!! Grabbed a warm loaf of Italian and I was on my way to the Amalfi Coast for din din. As my father would say "I wonder what the poor people are doing?" Uncle G scammed me today. Drove over to pick up first Darling Clementines of the season. Got home and they tasted like cardboard. Read bag and they are crap from Peru. No mention of Clementine on the bag. My fault for allowing them to pull a fast one on me. Is this what this high priced store is moving towards? Update: I returned the item and immediately noticed that the product had been replaced on the shelves by real Darling Clementines. I spoke with store manager, James, who explained they had run out earlier and replaced item by one he admitted turned out inferior. He said they had all been returned to the distributor. He was very professional and gave me both a refund and a free bag of the real thing. My confidence has been restored. I am now upgrading my one star review to three stars. Can not go higher as the issue still involved fraud and trademark infringement in sullying the name of the real thing with fakes. read more

Lasagna with Penicillin is not what I ordered. Got a little extra surprise the other night when we got the to go lasagna from this "establishment". After eating part, my wife unwrapped the rest of it, and instead of finding extra cheese and sauce there was delectable fuzzy mold growing on our dinner. It made my wife so sick that she immediately vomited, which made for a lovely evening. When I went back the next day to complain, I was met with less than admirable service. This place is the store to go to on the island. Always mobbed especially around holidays. Prices are fair but a tad higher than most. Staff is always on point everytime I visit. It is beyond me why this place is so highly rated. Basically if you come here, you are not shopping for something to cook, or you are shopping for cheese. All of their prepared food is priced at specialty italian store prices, yet it is not good! The raviolis are ok, but their sauce sucks. The bakery section is not as good as the bakery in the same strip mall. I just was reminded how much I do not like this place from when I walked in my home and saw some Uncle Giuseppe's stuffed mushrooms in the fridge. I had not eaten in 12 hours and was excited. What a let down! The mushrooms were literally just a cut mushroom filled with SALTED DRY breadcrumbs. now I know that breadcrumbs are a majority of the filling of a stuffed mushroom but these were filled with just straight up breadcrumbs! Eating them was like eating dry sand. And it was expensive! The prices for their prepared entrees are not much lower than you would pay for a fresh much better dish at even an average Italian restaurant. If you are cooking and want fine ingredients, go to a specialty shop. Judging from the carts of everyone here, they are just getting take out food really that is cold and not even good. read more

Wow where do I start? This place is the Costco of Italian specialty foods, they have all your favorites plus mouthwatering products direct from Italy that we unfortunately do not have access to. Upon entering, your senses are engrossed with smells, visuals and sounds of an Italian market in Italy. Every section of the store gives you the ultimate experience of what each specializes in. The Deli section is top notch , Meats are some of the best I have experienced with the quality and selection you would find at Dean and Deluca's. The Cheese section is amazing and the ability to taste is a huge asset in itself. Produce is top so notch, that it rivals Whole Foods in quality at a better price. They also sell regular items you would find in your local supermarket as well. The Items in the middle of the store are items that are very difficult to find and they offer some of the best selections of brands and products outside of NYC. I can spend literally hours in this store just looking at all the interesting and unique products they offer and envision what specialty dish I can come up with. The Bakery is also wonderful and produces amazing classic Italian cookies , pastries and breads. My only small gripe here would be they sell out fast and the bakery area is small and gets crowded and congested easily. I cant forget to mention the Pizzeria in the store as well, the pizza's are affordable and excellent, a must try. Customer service is top notch from the management to employees who stock the shelves. This place is crazy busy during the weekends and during holidays so get there early otherwise you will wait in line. Best to pre order your holiday cakes and specialty items to ensure they don't sell out. The only downside will be to your wallet, Coming here is like going to Costco, you never walk out of the spending less than $100.00. I miss this place since moving out of state and even though there is an excellent Italian market in St Petersburg , they don't have the same items and the overall Uncle G experience is not there. I actually hate that I am giving this place three stars, because I so badly want to give it five. But here's why I can't: Uncle Giuseppe's is a high-end grocery store specializing in Italian treats. It is pricey, but if you shop their sales, you can leave with a few bags of extra-tasty stuff for the same money you'd shell out at any typical market. The place is fairly new, within four years I'd say...and they stock a huge inventory. At least four times, I have come home with spoiled meat of fish. You would think after the second time, I'd be grossed out and stop shopping there, but to be honest, I have had spoiled food at every single grocery store I have ever shopped at, so I felt it unfair to judge them too harshly. Also, their customer service has always been top-notch...they'd refund or exchange me for the spoiled food and at least half the times they would tell me to pick something else out as well on the house. So here's where things went really south... I treated my family to a cart-load of Uncle G.'s last week. I bought salmon in a dijon sauce that looked amazing. Because I was shopping after 8, I got the prepared sandwiches...buy one, get one half off. To the point: I got home and the salmon was spoiled. This was now the fifth time having spoiled food. The sandwich marked "cajun chicken salad with avocado and pepper jack cheese" was actually chicken salad with cranberries that someone added cajun seasoning to, and there was NO CHEESE & NO AVOCADO. Really. None. Mind you, this sandwich was $8. Now I was annoyed. I went to make myself a new sandwich as I'd also bought pastrami from the deli. I opened it and it was...Pastrami turkey. Sooooo pissed. The next day I brought the salmon back to the store. I told them about the cold cuts and sandwich. As they always do, they gave me my money back and let me pick out an extra sandwich for another half off. So I chose a lobster roll. What a treat!! Usually a lobster roll is way out of the budget for me, not to mention hard to come by. Ready? I get home and the lobster roll, clearly marked as such, is all imitation crabmeat. The kind that comes from the refrigerated section and is artificially pink and stuffed with sugar and contains no crab. Usually, its called "seafood salad" at delis. It actually is tasty, but there is no way its lobster, and I have never seen anyone try and sell it as lobster. Was this an error or was Uncle G.'s trying to be shady and assume the public that shops there is dumb enough to think this was lobster? Either way who cares. I'm a turned off customer. Also, statistically, at this point probably one third of my visits result in spoiled or mis-marked food. Reluctantly I'll have to spend my money elsewhere. I don't have time to return things or the money to throw food in the trash! read more

On the outside-seems like a grocery store with a fancy name. Walk inside and you're whisked away to Tuscany. There is opera music playing over the loudspeakers. The decor is so intricate with stonework, grapevine, and Italian phrasing engraved. But you don't care about the decor. The deli counter is the piece de resistance of this place. Holy wow. I can make mean salads and meatballs, but if I ever wanted to grab something and pass it off as "yeah, I cooked this", this would be the place to get it. There was a 40-50 foot deli counter with so many gourmet salads (spinach, waldorf, pasta, macaroni, tuna, etc) all with combos that were making me hungry. They had some of the best pre-made cold cut sandwiches I've ever had. OMFG. We were in a bit of a rush, so I didn't get to check out the bakery and candy counter as much as I wanted to-but it looked like something straight out of Willy Wonka. Wow-the fudge. This is somewhere that your wallet and your waistline both need to be ginger with the first time you come in. Bring a spotter with you. It may have been a good thing that we were just grabbing sandwiches and bread otherwise I could have walked out with enough to feed the homeless of New York for a month. And my wallet wouldn't have liked that-the quality here is spectacular but the prices are obviously a smidge higher because of it compared to your Stop and Shop. If this place isn't Italian enough by the name, let me throw you this-the last time we went in, the music wasn't the typical opera aria from a CD. It was around lunch time, yesterday, when my daughter and I got off the train in St. James, L.I. We went to visit for the day. My brother picked us up at the station and we decided to go straight to Uncle Giuseppe's to get something to eat since we were all hungry. There are aisles and aisles of prepared food to tempt you. It's impossible to go in and leave without buying anything. Smoked mozzarella, bocconcini, sun dried tomatoes, grape tomatoes, sliced pickles, fresh figs, dried figs, grape tomatoes, an assortment of crackers, hard salami, was our choice. Needless to say lunch was yummy! Walked around the store, saw the cooked chestnuts that were hard to find for stuffing the bird a couple of weeks ago. They were less than $10. Double the price in the city. I'd definitely shop there if I lived on the Island. read more
