The food was really good but the service was missing completely. Our server was the two bartenders and one of them got our drink order then no one came by to get food. Saw them talk to each other and look at us which leads me to believe they remembered they hadnt taken our order. Food came out quick and delicious. No one came by to see how everything was except the manager. We sat there waiting to put in churro Togo and when the other bartender came and took it and we paid waited 25 mins for churros and I had to ask about them to receive them. They were not busy and the service was unacceptable. Next time I'll get it Togo because the food was the only saving grace. Please talk to staff about being attentive. The food and environment was really good but the menu was very limited on vegetarian and vegan options. Unfortunately, there were a few mistakes on our order as well so the order was a little messed up which may have been partially due to how loud the music was and the fact that the server didn't write down or confirm our order. Excellent new upscale Tex Mex at 71st and 169 behind the B of A. Service was fast professional and helpful. Food was fast and hot when delivered and fresh tea and chip with additional hot sauce offered whenever it became low. I had the combination Tex-Mex with chicken and beef enchiladas and a beef taco. The ranchero bean and Mexican rice was excellent. Be sure and ask for spicy picante sauce it was wonderful and chips were crisp and warm. Our server was very helpful and attentive. read more

Got Our Seats Instantly Just To Wait Over 20 Mins With No Service. We Didn't Receive Any Drinks Barely The Salsa When We Had Our Seats.

The food was just horrible . Hubby got the fajitas and we had to send them back because the chicken was hard and over cooked. We got the Birria tacos as an appetizer ! It was spicy, and was not what we expected. We have had the authentic thing for way less money and a lot better! Enchiladas were basic. Expected more from this restaurant! Most everything had great flavor and good sized portions. The Mexican rice could use some more flavor though, kind of bland side. We were excited to try Uncle Julio's we decided to eat at the bar. They served us our drinks which were good and we sat and sat watching everyone get there food whom all came after us. On Saturday, 10/28/23, we visited Uncle Julio's for the 4th time. We'd had 3 other visits since August-ish that had been good food & good service. I especially liked the roasted tomato salsa & chips. This visit, however, was a deal-breaker and we likely will never be back. We arrived for an early dinner, around 4:30 p.m., asked to be seated in the bar area. Our server took our drink orders, we received chips/salsa and ordered guacamole. A while later, server came back to take our meal orders - two taco plate for me, taco salad for hubs. We waited and waited and waited 30+ minutes for our meals to come out. My tacos had no cheese. Hubs taco salad was in a cold shell and looked really pathetic as far as the lettuce & sparse toppings with barely any cheese. Our server finally came to check on our meals when we were both about 1/2 way through - I asked for the missing cojita cheese and hubs said he wasn't happy with his taco salad. She sent a manager over who apologized and offered to replace the taco salad with something else. Hubs orders cheese enchiladas, which manager says will be out super fast, which they were. But they were about the blandest cheese enchiladas you could ask for. Whatevs, at this point, we just want to finish and go on our way b/c it had been well over an hour since our arrival. The manager brings our bill out and says that he's "taken care of the taco salad and the guacamole" - cool, thanks. Then as we're looking at the bill, we realize, it's still almost $30 (we had water, no other drinks) - it's b/c we were charged for the replacement enchiladas! I don't think I've ever been at a restaurant where I received a less-than-desirable meal and am offered a replacement then get CHARGED for the replacement! Weird and just the cherry on top of not-great service, an semi-expensive meal of tacos & enchiladas, and crappy refried beans (not sure what they've changed with the refried beans, but they were terrible compared to previous visits). All in all, we won't be back. read more

With Father's Day dining plans unexpectedly diverted due to the massive storms that rolled through Tulsa on Saturday night, we happened upon Uncle Julio's Mexican Restaurant and decided to go there instead! It was completely opposite from the type of food that we were planning to enjoy; however, what a pleasant surprise this place was! Literally no waiting to be seated, the super friendly & professional wait staff was at our table to greet us within probably seconds and not minutes, and the atmosphere was so nice! I was thankful for vegetarian selections! The warm chips were fabulous, as were the queso and the wonderfully fresh table-side-prepared guacamole! Our waiter was so sweet and professional and completely on top of everything throughout our entire meal! Our orders were delivered promptly and perfectly, water bottle was kept filled, chips and salsa were never lacking, and everyone loved their menu selections. We did have a little difficulty contending with and conversing over the very loud music, but it was festive and energetic in there and everyone seemed to be enjoying their meals with family and friends, too. I'm a long-time customer of Uncle Julio's in other cities and was excited to try the Tulsa location. We were a party of four, including a visitor from Europe who was intrigued by our exuberance about the restaurant. Unfortunately, the meal was a disaster. Two in the party are "plus-sized" but we were jammed into a small booth while there were numerous tables open throughout the restaurant (we should have complained to the host-our bad on this one). Our server was preoccupied with a table of about 12 people celebrating a birthday, so we waited an inordinate amount of time for our drink and appetizer order to be taken. When the food arrived, my European guest (fluent in English) was brought the wrong entree. The server was visible perplexed and finally agreed to bring a replacement. After some time, while the other three guests sat looking at each other with their entrees, the replacement arrived and was again the wrong. Our server admitted to having some difficulty with English and after another wait, the correct entree was brought to the table. Other than mentioning the language issue, there was no apology or a visit from someone in management. Two of the other guests mentioned that their food was overly salty and ate less than half of their meal. The lack of attention to detail and apparent uncaring attitude of management is concerning. Opening a restaurant in a new city must be challenging, but Uncle Julio's has been operating for over 30 years. read more
