I ordered a small vanilla soft serve cone, but the employee behind the counter started scooping regular ice cream into a cup. When I clarified that I wanted soft serve, she told me, "Yes, soft serve--we make it from scooped ice cream," which made no sense. They then charged me over $7 for what was clearly not soft serve. After my card was already processed, I told them I didn't want it. At that point, the owner, Alan, became extremely aggressive--raising his voice and even putting his hands on me. I left immediately and will never return. It's disappointing, as I try to support local businesses, but experiences like this make that difficult. I'll be taking my business elsewhere. It's not the ice cream shop yet but getting there is part of the experience, the drive through Manalapan is really scenic with beautiful trees, flowers, and some amazing homes along the way. The Ice Cream Club itself is on the smaller side, but the ice cream is outstanding. It is a bit pricey, but definitely worth it. On this visit, I had a hot fudge sundae with their garbage can ice cream, which is vanilla ice cream loaded with ground peanuts and chunks of different candy bars. It was so good. I was also tempted to try the Heavenly Hash and the chocolate moose track, both looked really rich and chocolatey. If I had just gone with a cone, I probably would have picked one of those.
