Food inconsistent. Sometimes good and not so good! Folks Not friendly at all. They act like they are doing you a favor by taking your order over the phone! Certain Things on their menu that I wanted to order like bourbon chicken, they said we're too busy to do it or it's not available on the menu today. (BS) Every time I would ask for it they say now we don't carry it anymore. When I asked them to cook sesame chicken without the sesames and lightly fry it --it came back overcooked and with not enough sauce. I also like my vegetables cooked well due to my medical diet and many times the string beans or broccoli would come back Al Dante, (too hard) which I can't digest properly! I travel to Ming Garden Route 112, Coram in the Movie Land shopping center/Pine Shopping Plaza. Best Wonton soup around and much more. Will review this place in a separate post. Just moved from Queens to Middle Island. ​I ordered the appetizer of "6 Chicken Wings with French Fries" for $11.75. I don't think you are getting 6 wings; it looks like they took only two chicken wings and cut them into three pieces each to make up the count. ​This portion size, combined with the nearly twelve dollar price tag, is shocking. It certainly gives the impression that Middle Island is catering to very rich people! The value here is incredibly poor compared to what I'm used to. ​I expected better for the price. read more

Oh man... I doordashed this one. Zero stars on doordash from me. I got burnt scallion pancakes. Rubber wontons. Uncooked uncut broccoli. Please don't waste your time with this one. Really good, freshly prepared and flavorful Chinese food. I've been eye balling this place for a while now especially since I'm from around town and I thought that I'd stop by and give it a try. Highly recommend going in when their lunch special is available. Usually from 11am to 3pm. Prices are cheaper than other places and that's what caught my eye. I ordered my classic Kung Pao Chicken with white rice and it also came with the choice of soup or egg roll, I decided to get their Egg Drop Soup. Their egg drop soup was thick, yolky and delicious, I personally don't like wonton noodles in my soup so the egg drop works perfectly without it. Their Kung Pao Chicken was flavorful! Perfectly cooked sliced chicken with the kung pao sauce and steamed vegetables, are all paired perfectly. Kung Pao chicken is always a hit or miss when it comes to Chinese take out but today, I got my bang for my buck. Customer service was great, the gentleman behind the counter was multi tasking between taking our order and cooking it. I was certainly impressed by the way he cooked my food and also customer serviced me. Definitely will be back very soon, phenomenal food quality. That's what we want. read more

Run of the mill Chinese spot, like most Chinese takeouts today most of their food is pre made and/or pre packaged. Gone are the days of house made egg rolls, wontons and dumplings. Everything is done to save time and overhead which of course reflects on quality negatively. Uncle Rays is no exception here. Have to give this little Chinese place 5 stars for a win on service! Stressed after a trip to the Walmart down the street we immediately searched for relief near by. We arrived 3 min to close-- 10:57pm and asked if we could bother. Thankfully the nice lady at the counter welcomed us and took all our pardons without remorse. They were all ready to pack up and leave but they fired up the kitchen for us! Amazing service. $30 took 15 min to make and we happily drove home with an extra Lo Mein! 5 stars all around. The rice was perfect. Not old at all for closing! Chicken wings were battered like Diner app wings. Crispy and sweet! Totally different. Lo Mein was delicious. We got a chicken and a pork! Nice variety. Boneless ribs were crispy and well done! Super happy with my night! We will be back! read more

Good fresh food pick up was ready when they said best Chinese around middle island ridge

I'm Pretty sure I have eaten here before but I couldn't remember. Was shopping locally and really needed lunch to gambled and popped in. Ordered a lunch combo Sweet and Sour Pork, White rice and an eggroll. I skipped the soup, you know sodium... Nobody, I mean nobody included the pineapple carrots and peppers in their sweet and sour sauce anymore and they are no exception. I can't figure out how this isn't more popular, but you can't ding them for not doing something when Nobody else is either. The Pork was very good. Fried crispy, not too doughy and it even held up to the short trip home in its plastic container. The egg roll was a little off. The outside was crisp but maybe it was a little overdone. The wrapper was a little "stringy". Still edible but it just didn't bite well. Their house mustard is also on par just right for opening those nasal passages. I'll be sure to give them another go. Maybe they have some hidden gems on the menu that need to be found. read more

I've eaten here so many times since discovering it about 8 months ago and it fulfills what I've been looking for since moving to Suffolk about 10 years ago -- garlicky and flavorful Chinese-American food. Here's what I've ordered and continue to order in rotation because I tend to be a creature of habit. And, well, why mess with something good? *Singapore mei fun -- top two or three I've ever had. Spicy but not too much for my delicate palate to handle (lol), and loaded with curry and lots of shrimp, pork, chicken. Also, never dry (but not greasy either) *Shrimp and lobster sauce. Skip the lunch and combo portions and get the quart, there's about 8 or 10 large (always fresh!) shrimp so it's shareable or you'll have plenty for leftovers *Chicken and broccoli has also never been loaded with soggy, greasy broccoli florets, which is so common for most take-out joints *Boneless pork is great and not loaded with blobs of fat *Not crazy about the dumplings here (filling good but too doughy), so I get dim sum if I have a hankering for little meat pillows *Scallion pancakes -- crispy and yummy but do tend to be oily. But look at what you're eating, a fried pancake so... can't really complain :) *I've had the crab/cheese wontons a couple of times and they're good... in moderation. They're very sweet, like sugar is added. Good but after 2 it's too much. When I moved to the area I frequented a take-out place across the street. Almost all of the time they used too much thickener and so you were left with a gloopy mess. Some days your gloopy mess tasted ok but most of the time it was way gloopier than it should be and tasteless to boot. The last time I ate there I called to tell them the quart of shrimp & lobster sauce was almost inedible. I rarely complain, but it was a container of salty gloop minus any other taste. They are always very pleasant so they said they'd give me a $12 credit towards my next order. It's been almost 10 months and they can keep my credit because I won't be back, it's not even worth bad "free" food, especially since I discovered Uncle Ray's Who is Uncle Ray anyway, I want to shake his hand PS They don't deliver PPS Visa, MasterCard, no AmEx or Discover PPPS They always give me a bag of Chinese donuts with my take-out order and a few times they said to take a 2 liter soda. I must've hit some bonus spending level but I'm not sure what that is, it's not on the menu so I'll have to remember to ask next time read more

Wow, I usually don't give reviews on Chinese restaurants, however the food in this restaurant really stands out above the others I have eaten at. Even their name demands that you take notice of them. Yelp has this marked as "closed" but it certainly is not. Disguised as a standard Americanized Chinese place, this place has some hidden gems. First off, they make fresh pork buns! Secondly, they have outstanding large bowls of soup! Like real Chinese soup. When you walk by, you will see a sign with the soups. I got the roast pork and wonton soup and it had fresh greens, noodles, wontons, and large slices of roast pork. This is not like any soup you will have in the area, and is good for a meal alone. There is also free hot tea in the front on a table. I did not try any of the standard American Chinese greasy fare, but they do serve that too. read more

Best Chinese on LI ! Order the " Mei Fun " with chicken or beef . It's loaded with beautiful , clear , tasty noodles , veggies and meat of your choice . Also , their shrimp app is so good and cheap ! My kids love shrimp so we always order them and for 4 bucks you can't beat it ! 10 fried shrimp for 4 dollars ? Hell , I'd eat there everyday if I could . Also their chicken and broccoli has the best sauce ever ! Always perfect ! They use to give you free soup if you had a large order but they haven't been doing that lately . Uncle Ray's Chinese restaurant is mostly take away like most small restaurants. The food is very good and service is quick and friendly. Additionally Uncle Ray's has a few tables so you can comfortably eat there but rarely see someone staying. Spare ribs take longer to prepare than other orders, especially if they have a lot orders for it. So if in a rush go for boneless spare ribs. Duck sauce packets are standard but many seem to order their store made duck sauce even though it costs more. Mom likes Friendly's milk shakes (fribble) so I order take out and then get a shake to go from Friendly's. I highly recommend Uncle Ray's when picking up. I go to uncle rays about twice a month..but now I will never go back..on Saturday December 10th 2016 I went to uncle rays and ordered a large chicken fried rice,chicken wings and French fries,spare ribs,and large chicken and broccoli I picked up my order and went home to find I didn't get spare ribs I got rib tips off the bone and 2 roaches in my food I am so disgusted,not only did you get my order wrong but I had bugs in my food..my advice to everyone don't ever get anything from UNCLE RAYS again..highly upset NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!! read more

This is definitely the best Chinese take out in Middle Island, and trust me, I've tried them all after moving to the area a few years ago. Staff is very friendly, the restaurant is clean and I have always found the food to be on point. When you order a combo, they don't try to fluff the order up with tons of broccoli like other places normally do. The chicken is of good quality and the fried wontons are my guilty pleasure. I see some other reviews that they are pricey but I find them to be on par with what others charge. read more

I usually don't do this review thing but I had to so people don't make the mistake and give this place your hard earned money for horrible food. Hands down the worst Chinese food I've had to date I ordered food from this place once before and the food was really salty so I returned it silly me decided to give them a second chance and ordered a combination plate. Let me tell you this food will give you a stroke. It was worst then the first time I went again very salty ,rice taste burnt and under cooked meat was over cooked and hard. the first time i ordered general tso, beef and broc with wings and rice i loved everything but the wings was small. the food tastes really good. and because its winter now, they have free hot tea waiting for you. the staff is nice and respectable. its clean. they are located in the compare parking lot. next to advance auto. they have seating for u to eat. maybe like 5 tables. read more
