Always stop by an Uncle Tetsu when we're in town. They had a Yuzu Angel Hat and tart that were in season when we stopped in, so we had to get it. Great flavor and bouncy texture like always! The one we stopped in this time was a part of a food hall, so we picked up some tarts and walked around to the food court seating area to eat.

Uncle Tetsu Cakes is a classic Toronto staple at their downtown location. They have a good variety of cheese tarts and cakes, and the rotating seasonal flavors keep things interesting. Prices are reasonable. You can enjoy the cakes cold for a richer cheesecake flavor or warm them at home for a soft sponge cake texture. There is usually no line during off-peak hours. The shop is takeout only with no seating.

I really love their cheese tarts. When I visited, they had the following flavors: Original, Matcha, Chocolate and Early Grey (limited edition). Of course the original flavor is very popular, but I always enjoy matcha flavor ans well and any time they add a new flavor, I make sure to try it. There always a lineup before entering the store and I'm glad they moved to a larger location. But, the service is very fast and efficient.

Honestly don't get how this location is a 3.5 on Yelp. The matcha tarts are amazing. Matcha flavor is incredibly strong and the dessert is just perfect. The cheesecake is so fluffy and isn't too sweet, like classic American cheesecake. Also the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend. The inside of the store looks very nice too. Staff was pleasant.

I live near the Uncle Tetsu's store at Pacific Mall. I try to not pass by the store. Otherwise, I'll go in and spend a ton of money. I have heard about this location at Atrium on Bay from a lot of friends who work in the area. One friend had an internship across from it. Every Friday, she bought a cheesecake to take home and devour all by herself. Yes, I have quality friends in my life who have great taste in Japanese-style cheesecakes. This store used to be across the street near the old bus terminal. It has since relocated to its larger location. I parked at a lot on the northwest corner of Bay and Edward Streets. It was super close to this store. In August, I was fortunate to have dropped by this store twice. You can't miss this store with its red signage and signature Uncle Tetsu cheerfully looking at you. I find that there's always a lineup here. My first visit was 6 pm. Lineup. My second visit was around 3 pm. Lineup. Luckily, the lineup moves quickly. I recently had its yuzu cheesecake, which was its latest flavour addition to the menu. The yuzu was tangy. It tasted like lemon. The cheesecake wasn't overly sweet. It was fluffy, airy, and delicious. I enjoyed indulging without any heaviness. I love the cheese tarts here. I picked up the matcha and yuzu ones. So good! The matcha one had a nice matcha strength that I thoroughly enjoyed. The filling was creamy and perfect. The crust part was scrumptious. The yuzu one was bright in flavour. The filling was equally as smooth and creamy. Excellent! I paid both times with a credit card. Done! I entered this store both times through the entrance facing Dundas Street West. You can also enter and exit this store from Atrium on Bay. I like options. I loved my visits here. Sure, there's always a lineup. It's simply a sign of yumminess. Fortunately, the wait isn't long. This is the new Uncle tetsu which has relocated across the street to the atrium mall. This is an open concept bakery where you can see all the items being made. There are often long lineups at this location due to popularity, service is fast and efficient. They are constantly making new cheesecakes and other desserts throughout the day so you know that what you get is fresh. A great spot to get a dessert or a sweet gift for a reasonable price. There's basically no seating inside so you will need to enjoy your dessert elsewhere.

The cheesecakes and cheese tarts are always freshly made. There can be a lineup at times, but the wait is never too long. The service is friendly, and the store is clean. My go-to is always the six-pack of cheese tarts!

Stopped by on the way back from dinner. Long line but moved super fast. We ordered 6 cheese tarts which are just mini cheesecakes. 2 chocolate, 2 yuzu, 1 regular and 1 matcha. Took them back to our hotel to chill. They are delicious! Do not skip this experience in Toronto. Perfect sized desert. Creamy, flavorful and delightful.

I tried their limited time yuzu cheese tart and absolutely loved it. The yuzu flavour was prominent but not overpowering. I love their original cheesecake, the flavour is subtle and the texture is soft and fluffy. Definitely will go back to try the other yuzu flavoured items before the limited run is done!

When Uncle Tetsu closed down in Hawaii, I was very sad. I love their cheesecake. So glad I got to eat some here. I never had their tarts and wanted to try it. Had the cheese tart and the earl grey. The tart was a bit hard, not a fan of it. The cheese and earl grey filling was ok. I would prefer their cheesecake instead of the tart. I believe they make a certain amount a day depending where the location is. Pricing is decent.

I've always been a big fan of Japanese Cheesecakes and heard such great things from friends in the area, so we decided to check out this place. Besides reviews based on service (our service was pretty great the day we went since we were in and out in 5 minutes and visited twice this day), I'm not too sure why this spot has ratings less than 4 or 5 stars! Maybe some others are comparing their experience with the taste of normal cheesecakes or what they might have seen on social media, but from our experience, these Japanese cheesecakes and tarts were SOO good we had to get a bunch more to bring home on the plane! The cheesecake itself has a slightly stronger cheese flavor than what I have tried before that I actually preferred and it was still very fluffy and soft after keeping it in the fridge. Our favorite out of the tarts was the original flavor--which was super rich and cheesy in a creamy tart way, with a crunchy tart shell that came together so nicely! (tastes best fresh but still tastes great if you wait until you get home!) Our second favorite was yuzu since the original could not be beaten, then the chocolate and matcha tarts themselves were just okay but this was fine because we figured the original tart is what they're known for anyways so we were just simply happy to have been able to try a decent bit of their menu! Will definitely come back next time! What we ordered: - Original Japanese Cheesecake x2 - Original Cheese Tart x2 - Yuzu Cheese Tart x2 - Matcha Cheese Tart - Chocolate Cheese Tart

Such a cute location. I have seen a lot of things about Japanese Cheesecake and wanted to give it a try, I heard about Uncle Tetsu's a while back but havent been able to make it up here till now! They offer the cheesecakes warm or cold which is great, I got it cold, very good! It has a super subtle light flavor and isnt too heavy on the stomach. I personally love cheesecake but it can be too sweet and thick for me so this is the perfect amount of what I enjoy. The center of the cake has the most flavor as the outside is naturally dryer from being baked the way its baked. Staff was friendly, didnt have any issues at all. It wasnt too busy when I went so I think it was also a good time on my end!

I joined the line when I saw the very long line in front of the store door despite the fact that I didn't even know what they sell. Hey, I'm not a blind follower! I smelled the strong aroma leaking out from the store and that was an irresistible flavour. I bought a cheesecake with the original flavour. It was a Japanese-style cheesecake and the texture was like a wet sponge. It felt thick when you cut it. It felt light when you hold it. It then will melt in your mouth. It may be still fresh in North America but we're pretty familiar with that in Asia. Although I didn't feel Amazing or Mind-blowing by the taste of the cheesecake, I wasn't disappointed at all. It tasted good and was full of butter scent. It's a good deal and has decent quality. It's a perfect gift or dessert when you visit a friend.

So the bear itself in the affogato was a solid icy chunk of milk (coz we chose the milk flavour) that just frozen. We added the affogato on top of it and while it looked aesthetic, the dessert didn't make sense at all. We were unable to break the frozen chunk or be able to mix it with the coffee and the coffee mixed with that frozen chunk submerged tasted really bad. Paying $16 for that wasn't worth it at all. The bingsu was good though. We got the mango bingsu bowl and it came loaded with mangoes and a marshmallow and an oreo cookie to make it look pretty! I don't think I'd come back to try anything else here. Was a little disappointed.

I started going to Holy Choco when they first opened and their service was really good from some of the owner. Super attentive and caring staff. It's like the concept of a donut only thinner and crispier, thus resulting in a much better texture and crunch throughout which I very much prefer over a donut actually. The cheesecake spread mingling with the sweet caramel, crunchy toffee bits, and crispy hot dough is just such a perfect combination. It's a bit of a mess to eat but sooooo worth it. It really is such a shame that there isn't an establishment like this in NYC because it could seriously do some REALLY good numbers over here I reckon. When I saw the price was $9.90 per chocolate, I was honestly a little surprised, bc it's sold under 7 per chocolate in Korea. But they were running a promotion until the 15th -- 5 for $30 -- which made it much more reasonable. I've never had the original version sold in Korea, so I can't compare it directly, but from what I've seen and heard, it seems pretty similar to what's trending there. Korean reviews are overwhelmingly positive, and people say it tastes just like the viral version. The texture is definitely chewy, just like the name suggests, and it's very sweet. Personally, it was a bit too sweet for my taste, but that's just my preference. That being said, I gave some as gifts and they absolutely loved it. So if you enjoy rich, sweet desserts -- or you're looking for something trendy and fun to share -- this would be a great choice. The shop itself is small and cozy, but very welcoming. The staff were friendly and made the experience pleasant. Overall, even though it's not exactly my personal favorite flavor-wise, I can understand the hype. It's a fun treat to try at least once, especially if you've been curious about the viral Korean Dubai chocolate trend. I'd recommend stopping by and taking advantage of the promo while it lasts!
