    Crab eggs benedict
    Mackenzie S.

I wouldn't return, but it wasn't terrible. The good? Friendly staff, cute vibes and unique menu/food offerings. The bad? Food and drink were lackluster at best. I ordered a matcha latte and it was pretty terrible. Unfortunately, a lot of places can't do matcha, but I was hopeful because this place is also a cafe with baristas, but no. This kind of matcha is why people don't like matcha. I also got the crab eggs benedict, one of the priciest menu items. As I cut this ball of crab open I expected a beautiful poached egg... nope. It was a medium to soft boiled egg that was almost cold inside. The crab cake ball was pretty good but like not worth $26. My girlfriend got a vanilla latte and the berry waffles, which she said both were pretty good. I took a taste of the berry topping on the waffles and it was tasty. I guess she chose better than me! Finally, we did have a wait when we got there, maybe 25 minutes which was not a big deal. But, I guess I should've specified we wanted to sit outside... When we came for our table there were 4 open tables outside, so I asked if we could sit out there. Host said they were for people waiting before us. 2 of the tables sat empty the whole time we were there. Whatever, I won't claim to understand the inner working of restaurants or seating so not a big deal, but it was kinda confusing. I will say, it was also pretty noisy inside, some noise dampening would be nice! Overall, I'd say it seems pretty overhyped compared to the reality of my experience.

I highly recommend this place when in town, in a place dominated mostly by American dishes, this American brunch place with Brazilian flair is a gem! We had the Coconut espresso cold brew, it was light and refreshing during a warm summer weather. We started with Pao de Quejó, a Brazilian cheese bread. We had the Crab Benedict and Maria Lucia (Vegan gluten free omelette) with option to add steak. The restaurant is GF and Vegan friendly and the staff, including the owner Bruno were amazing. They serve Uncommon coffee which is owned by the same owner. Bruno shared how he imports his coffee beans directly from his farm in Brazil. They have both indoor, and outdoor seating - with a view of the lake.

MALU is a 11/10 because they go above and beyond in every way. The food was out of this world, fresh, flavorful--ABSOLUTELY delicious! Bruno the owner was so warm and friendly. He made us feel like family! He made our experience something special and we will 1000% be back. The vibe of this place is full of love and generosity. Sam was our server and he was attentive, & friendly! Love this place. Love the staff. Love the food

Had the oatmeal with a side of homemade granola to mix in. Excellent, portion way too big!

Great food, friendly service. We had a table of 5 on a summer Saturday and the wait wasn't very long. You can draw on the table (brown paper) which is an underrated good time.

I love to try new places to eat, so while on vacation I seldom eat at the same place twice. I had breakfast at Malu all three days of my vacation weekend because it was that good. They offer an interesting presentation for their breakfast that is surprisingly tasty.

It's a nice little place, but the food certainly needs some help. I ordered steak and eggs, servers asks how I would like my eggs, I request over easy with a response if we only do sunny side up or scrambled, I ask why they couldn't just flip the sunny side up egg over for a second.. "nope, sunny side up or scrambled " the steak certainly wasn't up the the standards for the cost. Seems like they are trying to hard to be high end.

I am not kidding I think this is one of the best meals I've ever had! Not only is it beautifully plated, but it was all so delicious! We got the avocado toast and the breakfast burrito and both were AMAZING. The staff was also so friendly. They had both indoor and outdoor seating when we went. Also have DELICIOUS coffee. I had a salted caramel cold brew and again one of the best coffees I've had. Everything about this place is 10/10. If you're in the area it is a MUST try.

This spot was exactly what we were looking for as our last brunch spot in Saugatuck before hitting the road! It is like a mix of a cafe and a brunch restaurant so do not expect to be in and out like a quick cafe. The menu has a lot of options. There isn't a ton of seating but there are indoor and outdoor areas. The food and drinks are all delicious! The service was also fantastic. Even though our wait was not that long, they gave us mini muffins that were delicious. Definitely recommend for a yummy and cute brunch!

Visited this during our trip to Saugatuck. This place is very new and it's part of the uncommon ground coffee shop. The service is friendly, however extremely slow. They gave us a warning that the food will be delayed by 45 min because they didn't have one of the chefs. The food didn't come out for and hour and half. I also ordered scrambled eggs on my avocado toast and I made a comment to the waitress saying I got an omelette instead of scrambled and she told me "that's scrambled, that's how we made scrambled eggs" which was interesting. Food was ok and ambience was cafe vibes.

Just got a drip coffee. Blend was smooth and easy to drink. The chocolate chip coffee was remarkable! Barista super nice and inviting.

The second I walked into Uncommon Coffee Roasters, I was hit with the smell of fresh bread. It immediately took me back to my grandma's kitchen. She used to bake a loaf of bread just for me--with no nuts, because she knew that's how I liked it. Walking into her house, I always knew exactly what she was making. It's funny how a smell can transport you somewhere in an instant. Then I looked over at the bakery case. Mistake. Everything looked fresh, homemade, and absolutely beautiful. We had plans to spend the rest of the day walking around Saugatuck, so I talked myself out of buying a loaf... and regretted that decision before we were even back out the door. Despite the line stretching from the counter almost to the entrance, the staff handled it like absolute pros. Everyone behind the counter seemed completely in sync, moving quickly without making the experience feel rushed. Watching them work was almost entertaining in itself. The shop has a colorful, artsy personality that fits Saugatuck perfectly. It feels modern without losing that cozy small-town charm. Between the artwork, the cheerful cups (seriously... how cute are they?), and people scattered throughout reading, chatting, working on laptops, or simply enjoying their coffee, it felt like the kind of place you naturally want to linger. As for the coffee... We ordered three different drinks and somehow all landed on winners. My Don't Be Salty cold brew (cold brew with caramel and salted caramel cold foam) was phenomenal. Another in our group ordered the Caramel Silk latte, and judging by the smile after the first sip, I'd call that a success too. I honestly couldn't tell you what our third friend ordered... only that all three of us agreed we'd happily order our drinks again. Some coffee shops are just a quick caffeine stop. Uncommon Coffee Roasters feels like part of the Saugatuck experience. We'll absolutely be back... and next time, I'm buying the bread,

The food is good, but not usually worth these long wait times imo. Today, was a cloudy and cold Wednesday mid morning. The place was busy, but no long wait times. The food is always good. Everything I've ever eaten on the menu is good... but I have a special affinity for pig 'n the blankets, banket, and any Mexican inspired breakfast item in the menu. Today I had the chorizo Benny. It was fabulous and worth the $15 imo. Our waiter, Pedro, was the best! He's worked there for over a decade and knows the family that runs this restaurant--- 3 Dutch brothers--- he gave me a run down on the lore and all the pictures are of their family photos hanging around the restaurant. I think that's pretty cool. They will be opening and expanding into a new restaurant location on the corner of River and Lakewood Blvd sometime in the near future. That location will have more of a "hipster" vibe with breakfast cocktails, etc. Check them out when you want... but if you don't want to wait come during off peak hours and off season times. Make sure to peruse their bakery for some goodies to take home. Salud.

Right when you park, you'll see a large area to buy goodies (pies, cookies, produce), you'll see animals to pet, and then blueberries to pick. We went in late July and the berries were abundant (and delicious). We definitely tried our way through some favorites and then picked entirely too many. We ended up eating most and adding tons to blueberry pancakes over our vacation weekend in South Haven. Can't remember the exact prices but cheaper than I've paid for berries all summer, I know that much. And we ALWAYS have blueberries in the house. Also loved the super sweet blueberry lemon sugar cookie that they had in their shop, and felt welcome by the friendly staff. Lastly, speaking to how close everything is both on the farm and off; this is quite close to downtown South Haven when driving, but still feels way out in the country. It's a perfect combo, IMO, and we'd come back again and again if we lived near here.

When we arrived today we were pretty bummed that bumbleberry changed how they run the farm. We used to be able to give everyone a bucket and then the blueberries would be weighed and we would take them home. Now, be prepared to pay 12 dollars a bucket(you get to keep it). It's not the same experience when you are walking to the fields and the entire family needs to share a single bucket. We also adored the low key barrel ride. I believe it was about 5 dollars a ticket in the past. Now, you must pay 12 dollars per child plus 5 dollars per adult to watch your child play and go on a barrel ride. The petting zoo, bumbleberry chair, tire castle, everything is gated off. We passed and noticed most families did the same. This would have cost our crew 45 dollars for one ride (two toddlers, 4 adults). What was once a quaint family farm now feels off. We will be picking somewhere else next year.
