My favorite salon in Louisville! I see Geneva here regularly. She always does an amazing job and is particularly spectacular with color. She has done color corrections for me when I went elsewhere and other stylists jacked my hair up. I will never go to anyone else now. I love the location on Bardstown road it is 5 minutes from my house. Parking can be tricky in this area though so I reccomend making an apoointment earlier in the day if you want street parking out front and bring change because there are meters. You can park on side streets there are two close by. I really like the decor inside. I have gotten to see what the other stylists can do and the other stylists are very skilled as well. Geneva is particularly good at bayalage. read more

Fran, the owner, has been doing my hand r for about three years now. She is fantasy with color and helped me find a cut and style that worked for me. I get tons of compliments on my hair now and I feel so confident. She also cuts the hair of my daughter, who is 18 with special needs. I was lucky enough to find a Groupon for a cut, color and style with the hair artist Cassie. I called on a Wednesday and was able to make my appointment for the following Saturday morning. I walked in the hair salon and was immediately greeted. Cassie had me sit in her chair and we went right to work. She asked me what color I wanted to go with, what products I use on my hair, and how I wanted my hair cut. We decided on a dark copper brown hair color and to cut an inch or more off with layers. The entire hair process took about two hours. When I left I felt like a new woman absolutely loving my new do!!!!! I'll will definitely go back to see Cassie with or without a Groupon. I liked the laid back atmosphere, music playing through the room, and the upbeat fun staff. Fortunately parking was easy for me that, and day considering it's located on Bardstown Rd. Tyler did my hair at under the dryer in the begging in of April. I wanted to write a review right then because it was amazing!!! I walked in with virgin hair, had never dyed or highlighted it ever, and I having no clue what to do. Tyler was the best, he explained everything and it was a super fun 6 hour long experience. I have very long and thick hair and he was patient and diligently worked to achieve the hair color I wanted! first step was bleaching all over, leaving the roots out until the end. Once it was all blonde, tyler went in with a base toner for the pink, giving the final pink color something to adhere to and make my color last longer. After that, he applied the final pink color and let it sit to absorb into my hair, and then I had amazing magentishh Pink hair!! My hair color has lasted perfectly for five weeks. Its growing faster than fading. I will be back to see him and anytime someone ask about my hair I tell them to go see Tyler! All the stylist are good geneiva and topher were both there and another girl stepped in briefly to help get my hair done faster and the color over at the same time. The salon was one of my favorites I've been to. The confidence this new and fun color has brought me is unexplainable... I'm a much happier and every time I pass a mirror I can't help but stop and stair st my beautiful hair color!!!! read more

She cut her hair for curls but styled it straight which my daughter loved! She took a lot of time w her today & only charged the child rate. A++++ all around here. Let me start with saying how protective I am of my hair. Having curls makes it difficult because not everyone can cut them properly. I've had the same person cutting my hair since I was about six, so this was a big step for me. I came here by recommendation of my curly-haired roommate. I figured if she could do it so could I. Called on a Tuesday and was booked for a Thursday- with how small this place seems, I was surprised at how quickly that happened. On top of that, I explained I had curly hair in case it made a difference. Immediately she called "dibs" on cutting my hair- this was Fran. When I said I was hoping to try a new style she gave me her personal cell number so I could send her pictures and we could talk it over beforehand. I LOVED this. Before even meeting her I could tell this was a treat. I got there a few minutes early and Fran took me right away. Long story short: incredibly nice, great with the scissors, and gave me the exact style I was hoping for. I am overly happy with the experience I had here. Overall, I think it's fairly priced as well. However, going to the same person for 16 years of my life might make me a poor judge on this aspect. $35 for a woman's cut seems very reasonable to me. read more

I have been using the original Moroccan Oil on my hair now for almost two weeks. I have already noticed a huge difference. My hair looks more healthy all around. It has less frizz and is more smooth. The BEST part is my drying time has almost been cut in half!! That's a big deal for me because I have thick long hair so every second counts when I get ready for work or a hot date! There are so many amazing things to say about Fran and her salon, Under the Dryer. When I moved to Louisville I struggled to find a stylist that was dependable and knew how to give a great pixie cut. That is, until I met Fran! She does this awesome thing where she has different prices for "short" and "long" hair so my cut is SUPER economical. I trust her so much, that I decided to finally try my hand at a fantasy color and told her I wanted magenta hair and BOY did she deliver! My color stays vibrant for MONTHS and now, 2 years later, my pink hair is my "signature." The color requires bleaching and my hair is NEVER damaged or dry. I honestly don't know how she does what she does, but I love it. Fran is always super accommodating with my schedule and I really appreciate that she has evening hours. She's also a ball of fun and just great to chat with while I spend an hour and a half in her chair getting my hair colored. read more

My wife went in to get her hair done and when she came out you could bairly tell the diffrence from when she wen't in! She chopped her hair and it is like 4 different colors the ladies name is Charlie I would not ever recommend using her shes a terrible hair dresser she literally had my wife in tears the next day when she looked at her self in the mirror. This salon just gave me the best haircut I've had in over six years- Grace had a cancelation and I came in last minute (never met before). I have very fine hair and stylists never take the time nor care to actually create a flattering shape/style for me, but Grace is a perfectionist. Whenever I move away, I fear I'll have to buy plane tickets specifically to come to Grace for a trim. She has blown me away, I didn't even know my hair could make me feel confident until now. As a Louisville resident, I've always loved passing Under the Dryer. It's a unique shop with its own presence that looks like it was custom-fit for the highlands. However, I went in for a blonde balayage this fall and had the worst cut and color I've ever received. The color turned out patchy, uneven, and bright orange (I had warned my stylist that I have copper undertones). He told me that he couldn't use Olaplex on my hair because they were running low, and he needed it for a friends appointment (!) Instead, he suggested a Keratin treatment, which cost me extra. He seemed tired and distracted and I didn't want to upset him, so I complied, thinking "he's the stylist, he knows better than I do." By the time it came to cut my hair, it must have been fried because he took length off the front that I didn't ask for, my only guess is that he was hoping to minimize the look of the damage. I called back the next day to speak to Topher about my service. He told me that he couldn't refund my money at the moment because he had already spent it, but that he could use a toner to hopefully balance out the color. When I told him that I would be at work and couldn't come in that day, but could come in later, he said he was leaving for vacation. Long story short, my hair was a complete mess. I wasn't refunded, and I ended up having to buy a toner kit to use on myself until I could get in to see a stylist somewhere else the following week. If I had the photos a friend took on her phone to send to her stylist as a way of asking for a possible appointment in the near future - I would share them. Instead, I'll just say - I would not recommend Under the Dryer. read more

If I could give less than one star I would. I posted four pictures in the photo section documenting my bright blonde that I walked in with and my dark brown three tone hair that I left with. My stylist was 20 minutes late getting to me. I let her know that my roots were very dark and would require a lot of time especially considering that I used Olaplex. I definitely received a rush job and walked out worse off than I walked in. And it was blamed on me and the fact that I took two smoke breaks and was not under the dryer long enough yet the stylist did not tell me that I would be leaving with great clips quality hair. She actually bragged about her years of experience and which Salons she had worked at and how she doesn't do hair for the money but to make people beautiful and feel better about themselves. Oh what a surprise because I left feeling even worse about myself... The customer service I received upon sending her pictures of the orange in my hair was unacceptable. I was offered an appointment almost a week later to fix it at a charge of $50. Please save yourself the time, money, and heartache of going to this unprofessional salon. read more

Topher cut and colored my daughters hair a a very pretty combination of bright pinks and purples. He did overall a great job, and being that about 3 wks have passed, the color has held up well and evolved beautifully. That being said, the only complaint I would have is that we showed up at 3, and since I knew we were late for our appt with him, I made sure it was still ok for his schedule to take her and he said it definitely was, then took until SEVEN o'clock to finish her hair( four hours later) - the entire time I kept reminding him of the Halloween parade at 7 that we needed to get home for, and so by the time we got home it was really too late to go. Just took WAY too long but otherwise very good hair. read more

I am new to the area and was eating at the Uptown Cafe and seen a shop across the street that was open and advertising with no wait. So I googled the name for the number and found it on here. I called asking for pricing for me and my boyfriend but the lady was extremely rude, questioning me how I got the number even hanging up me??!!!!!!!! Then she calls back yelling in the phone that her number wasn't listed and aggressively telling me I was lying then hung up on me again. I was trying to explain I got the number off of here but she never gave me a chance. I will never step foot in there. read more

I bought a Groupon for a haircut, style & color with Brit and I was so pleased with everything at this salon! At first I felt a bit uncomfortable as I'm quite a bit older than all of the stylists here but as soon as Brit came in and started on my hair I just felt so at ease. She listened to exactly what I wanted done and she took a great deal of time with me to make sure I was totally pleased with the finished look - and I was! I've admired this shop from afar, loving the style of its place, as well as the adorable do's that come out of it. Finally I had an excuse to set an appointment: my 3 month haircut. I called up Friday midday, and was seen Saturday morning, which I was extremely surprised about especially for such a small shop! I was seen by Hellen, who was the absolute sweetest, who cut off 3-4 inches of my should length 3A curlsinto a chin length bob. She's as the hands of a masseuse, and gave me a massage during my shampooing that I almost fell asleep from. Hellen was very meticulous with my bob, and would stop until is was damn near perfect, my only regret is that we didn't take a before and after photo from my appointment! A cut and style was only $40 not including tip, which I find very reasonable for the quality I got from Hellen and the Salon. Will definitely recommend and return when I want to go shorter read more
