Visiting LA for the weekend, I was recommended Undergrind Cafe, and I'm glad I gave it a try. It was easy enough to find, but parking in the area can definitely be scarce. The drink menu had a nice variety of teas, coffee, and plenty of other options. For breakfast, I tried the Greek Scramble and the Bayou Burrito. The Greek Scramble came with a generous helping of feta, along with olives and spinach, and was served with hearty slices of bread. The Bayou Burrito was fantastic. It was packed with shrimp, sausage, and the holy trinity, giving it tons of flavor. The green sauce served alongside it had just the right amount of mild heat and a great herbal flavor profile. Definitely don't skip it! Overall, I really enjoyed my breakfast here and would highly recommend it. I'd definitely love to come back and explore more of the menu next time I'm in LA. read more

Metered street parking, breakfast bagel options were great. I got the mikes bagel (2 fried eggs bacon and cheese) but switched the cheddar cheese to have cream cheese instead. We were getting our car serviced at Bobby's Auto in my Daughter and I wanted to get some breakfast and found that the Undergrind was not too far away. Easy street parking cool little Cafe. You can tell they were popular as there were a number of people in the waiting area. They had many breakfast options we both went for the all American breakfast burrito. What a winner! We both thought it was delicious. I also had a cup of coffee, just plain drip coffee, which was excellent. read more

The only reason this isn't getting 5 stars is because of wait times. I don't mean waiting in line, I mean waiting for your drinks because food comes out so fast! I hear the food is amazing so my next visit I will have to dine here also. Got an iced vanilla bean latte and it was worth the wait! They must harvest the beans fresh lol jk, but the flavor is truly great. It's a little cramped inside but there is an okay amount of seating since most people seem to take their orders to go, plus there is a few tables outside which they thankfully have been thoughtful enough to provide shade as well so on a nice day I'm sure it enhances the experience. Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon after craving some breakfast burritos in the area. They have an abundance of different bfast items from pancakes, sandwiches, salads, coffee, lattes and of course bfast burritos. Ordered the break of day / all american burrito / pancakes. All items were very delicious. Nothing bad to say, everything was wiped clean. Burrito comes in a very nice tortilla thats very thin and has a nice texture. Size is really good as well. I know some places the burritos are the size of a peanut. The pancake was really fluffy and hit the spot. Definitely will try again and try their sandwiches next time. Parking is pretty easy even though it's street only parking a lot of spaces available. They do delivery to DoorDash an Uber eats as well. read more

The service is always on point in the very cute spot that always gets packed. If you like really strong coffee, this is your place to be. Definitely a neighborhood spot with enough seating inside and outside. It is not super spacious inside but more of a homely feel with some lower seat downs, bar stools and high top areas. Outside could use more seating tbh. The veggie burrito was so huge it was hard to finish. Most items are good sized portion. It had enough dressing in it as well as much veggie including mushroom. What a hidden gem! In an area that is not very trendy or known for anything in particular, sits this great coffee and breakfast joint. The food is fabulous, the coffee is rich and creamy, and the prices are more than fair. We had the Greek scramble that was loaded with feta, olives, spinach, and other veggies, and the lox bagel. My dining partner gets lox and bagels all the time and said it was the best he's ever had. The lox was super fresh and high-quality. There is a small seating area inside and a few tables outside on the sidewalk. It's super casual with metal barstools and a mishmash of tables and counters. I'm not a first timer for Undergrind and you can tell what it means when you keep coming to a coffee shop. Yep, I love their coffee and the fact that they provide multiple fun options of sweetened latte. Some of them are more adventurous featuring peanut butter, but my faves are surely their Salted Caramel and Vanilla ones. Kind reminder, their cup sizes are relatively big compared to typical coffee shops; hence I mostly go for their small. Unlike the cup size, the venue is quite small. Nonetheless, that actually doesn't really trouble me as much as the fact that sitting for awhile inside always leaves me with food/kitchen scent (IYKYK). Don't get me wrong, they do serve luscious breakfast and brunch menus, so if the scents don't bother you, ALL GOOD! This place is constantly busy throughout the day, but it's pretty outstanding that they always manage to get the orders ready speedy enough even including the foods. read more

So so good! I have had several things here and they are all so bomb. Service is kind and I asked for a recc and he gave me his opinion, which I appreciated. I ordered the breakfast burrito before for takeout and that was so good. Today my friend and I ate inside. There are a few tables, good music and we had a nice meal. I got the GOAT avocado toast topped with a fried egg, arugula, honey goat cheese, so creamy and yummy. My friend got the Bollywood burrito that is a curry explanation of flavor and deliciousness. When you are at work and have not eaten breakfast, it can be difficult to have a strong start to the day. I needed something to provide that boost to help me start the day off strong. I ordered a Tiger Island Latte, which contained chocolate, coconut, chai, and espresso. I also ordered the Break of Day Burrito, which had scrambled eggs, bacon, soyrizo, hash browns, sharp cheddar, fresh jalapeños, and green onion served with a side of salsa. That first sip you take of something so refreshing and uplifting along with that first bite you take from a very hearty meal is truly amazing. I then took a few more sips and bites, and believe it or not, I was so ready for the day. I finished the beverage and left the rest of the burrito for later in the day, which was a smart decision since it gave me even more energy on the drive home. As one other customer said, "This place is worth the wait." The very cute local spot on Robertson had quite the line when I arrived at lunch. They had run out of the salted caramel latte so I wound up getting the green dragon with pistachio as the staff suggested and it was very good. Opted to get the veggie grits and it did not disappoint as it had a wide variety of veggies with perfectly cooked grits. I'm understudied on their food, but I ordered the burrito once and it was hefty. I love doordashing from here because the prices are great, but you should definitely give them a visit in person. I stopped by here in the AM before work after ordering over the phone while on my way. The employees are honestly great, helpful and positive energy despite a busy crowd. My burrito was so hot, pretty big and very delicious. The seasonal veggies and the eggs blended well together and I'd def go back and get this. It was like under $10:) I order matcha latte and it was very disgusting. I do have a high standard for my matcha but that truly was not it. The barista offered to make me an iced Matcha Tea in hopes of a better taste but that was bad too. The matcha tasted like mornings was mixed with it tbh and i don't understand why. Overall, if you love matcha that is closer to authentic Japanese preparation rather than the more westernized version, order something else as I am sure it'll be a lot better considering they did have a crowd. Smooth espresso with just enough sweetness. $7 for a large with 4 shots and which in this economy I think is a deal lol! I got lost finding the shop as I initially went into their smoothie shop Undergrind Raw (the coffee shop is actually on Robertson, the smoothie shop is on Gibson) and the staff kindly noticed I was lost and pointed me in the right direction. I also asked for an opinion between two latte flavors when ordering and they kindly suggested which one they thought I would like. The skeleton theme is also cool! Street metered $1/hour parking; I had no issue finding a space and there were other empty spots around too. Highly recommend for your morning coffee fix! read more

I definitely discovered this spot through tik tok! I'm a huge fan of lucky charms, so when I heard there was a café spot in LA that served a latte that tasted like lucky charms, I just had to try it out! I live in NoHo, so this Cafe is a bit far from me. So I did visit on an early Saturday morning. The location this spot is located in is practically impossible to park in during a week day. But 9am on a weekend? Easy! You have to street park as there isn't a parking lot. The Cafe does have some indoor and outdoor seating but I could definitely see that filling up fast on a weekday or later in the day on the weekend. I tried out the lucky charm latte and the morning melt. The latte came with a small container of lucky charm marshmallows that you can add to your drink. Overall it definitely tasted like a bowl of lucky charms, but I couldn't see myself drinking this on a daily or weekly basis. However the morning melt?? So delicious! I wasn't evening planning on grabbing food, but saw they had a food menu and wanted to try something. It did take a bit for my food to come out but the melt was worth it. It had cheese, egg and tomatoes on it and they gave me chalula on the side. Perfection! Overall service was good and the vibe was welcoming. It's also black-owned, which is evident through their enticing shrimp and grits and other Southern-style creations. I ordered ahead and went to pick up my food/drink: despite the cafe being absolutely packed, the worker was super nice and took the time to check on my order. Much appreciated! I opted for the Green Dragon Latte, which was matcha, vanilla, and my milk of choice, soy milk. It was a bit too sweet for me, but a tasty drink nonetheless. This is strictly a food review, starting from best to worst with a TLDR at the end The place is a spin off the word underground, but their Peanut chocolate latte was heavenly. The dark chocolate flavor was so well balanced with the espresso. the peanut flavor also came through perfectly like fresh ground roasted peanuts. I was expecting a peanut butter taste, but these guys really did something special here. If this were a coffee shop, id give 5 stars. However... its a cafe. I got the cajun breakfast burrito off of a recommendation, cuz he said it was loaded, and that it was. A ton of shrimp and bell peppers. Smelled like a pot of cajun boil. I dont really love these flavors, and this burrito didnt change my mind. The side of hash browns that I ordered came out soggy and with little to no color. Utterly flavorless. It came sealed in a plastic container, clearly steaming hot to further soften I assume. I might as well have ordered some boiled shredded potato. I think I found my new favorite spot for a coffee based drinks in LA! Undergrind has so many options that I was having the hardest time choosing what to get, I even studied the menu beforehand! I ended up getting an iced vanilla bean latte and it was SO GOOD. My friend got the Emerald City and it was tasty as well. For the food, I'd say it's nothing to write home about and it does take a while to get but that's okay. The all American breakfast burrito was lackluster but my friend did love her East chop salad and the pancakes. I ended up getting an iced London fog latte to go and I'm so glad I did, I'll be dreaming about it forever. read more
