I tried not to panic and cleaned it off with bleach. I also called Environix a week or so later because I smelled that mildewy musty smell. Brian was very nice to me on the phone -- gave me advice, told me more about mold, etc. I was very pleasantly surprised that he didn't do what most companies would do -- tell me he can't tell me anything until he comes to look at it (and charges me). We left it at I will paint it with a mold killing paint that I bought and if I still smelled the smell, to call back and someone would come take a look. Unfortunately, I did have to call them back a couple weeks later and Dustin came to my house. He was great. Given the panic factor that the word "mold" elicits in me (and others I'm sure), he could have played off that and tried to sell me a lot of costly services. But he didn't -- and I really appreciate that. He did a thorough inspection of the room and the crawl space below it and talked to me for quite a while about a plan forward. Yes, I paid for his visit but it was well worth the cost because we came up with a plan for me to address the mold issue (which is thought to currently be limited to the laminate flooring which needs to be replaced anyway). So, I'll try the steps that he and I discussed and hopefully not have to call them again. However, if it doesn't work, I will definitely call them (and recommend them to others) because they are not only helpful but they seem to be very honest and willing to help people (i.e., not just make a quick buck).

So, when my portable AC leaked onto my flooring last night, I knew who I was going to contact. I called when they opened, and found out that he was booked for the next week. I decided to send him a message to see if there was a company he would recommend to me. He actually responded immediately and said that he'd be able to squeeze me in! You have no idea how grateful I was to hear that. He gave me two time options, and called me when he was on the way. I had no idea how much water had made its way into my flooring, so I was preparing myself for the worst. Turns out, it didn't end up being a catastrophe! Matthew used a thermal camera, and a moisture meter to inspect for moisture on the floor/subfloor and flex ducting. Once again, he was thorough at his job, and in his communication. It's difficult finding people that take pride in their work, are trustworthy, and do a great job. They butchered the chimney work, which rotted and leaked within a year and a half, and offered to repair it. They said they were embarassed, and that they're "better than that". Well they weren't. They came back and re-sided the chimney, but didn't bother to follow the maunfacturers instructions. I emailed them three times asking them if they were going to address this, and they haven't even taken the time to reply. As the President of our Board of Directors, I'm tasked with doing my best to protect everyone's investment. One way I'll do that is by never hiring these guys again.
