I went to a professional, and they told me that me that my nose was not pierced right which caused me to get a scar tissue when i was changing my jewelry, after waiting 6 months to do so. Now i have to wait a month to re pierce it.... the guy also told me if i end up with a keloid, just pop it. And i dont think thats what youre suppose to do to heal a keloid... read more

I came here on a whim to get a nose piercing and got me in the same day with an appointment. Mikey took care of me and he was awesome. He walked me through all the steps of what he was going to do before and during the process. This was my first time getting a facial piercing and I couldn't be more grateful to have an amazing piercer like Mikey to do it. He's really easy to talk to and makes you feel comfortable being there. He also went into detail about aftercare and other remedies I can do if I do develop a bump from the piercing. Highly recommend this place for piercings. My BF and I went in thinking we could do a walk-in for piercings and found out we needed an appointment - our mistake! But the woman at the front desk was a rockstar and actually got us in anyway, which was really nice of her. My BF got his ears pierced and I got my nipples pierced, both from Mikey. Mikey was very kind, gave us lots of info and helped us both feel comfortable before he pierced us. I was very nervous, but it was quick and as painless as it could be, and you could tell he's really good at what he does. Let me first start by saying that any business that loves Yelp and isn't afraid to show it gets an A in my book. I will elaborate later... I had been thinking about getting a cartilage piercing in my inner ear (it's called a 'rook piercing') and decided to pull the trigger. I was out with a friend and decided to check my Yelp app for local tattoo/piercing shops. Unicorn Ink got great reviews and I'd remembered seeing them featured on the #ROTD a few weeks back. To my dismay, they were close to shutting down shop for the night, but I called anyway, and they were more than happy to stay open for me. Amazing! When I arrived at the shop, all the paperwork was ready for me and the gentlemen were quite welcoming and friendly. It's a neat little place with graffiti decor and many private rooms for tats and piercings. I have to mention, there was Yelp insignia all over the joint, encouraging customers to leave reviews and to read about them on the site. George took me past a *lovely* hall of framed mirrors into his piercing room. (Seriously though, that hallway inspired me to do the same in my home) He explained the procedure and the necessity for a longer barbell during the initial healing process (6-8 weeks). After that, I would be free to change up the jewelry as I see fit. I laid down, and before I knew it, I had a nifty lil barbell in my ear. I've had multiple piercings before, but it's always worth mentioning when you have an effortless event that had the potential of being painful. I received my aftercare sheet, and got to check out my ear in that fabulous wall of mirrors before making my way to the front desk. He showed me the jewelry that they carry in this specific gauge, and it was totally reasonable. I snagged a blingy bejeweled black barbell priced at $10, and was ready to cash out. But wait - there's more! If you check in with Yelp, you receive $10 off a piercing! SCORE! I basically got my jewelry for free! All in all, super clean, thorough, friendly, and priced right. Worth the trip out of Providence for rebellious college student types looking for ink and not wanting to pay the absurd prices at an East Side shop. I've had a few tattoos done here by Greg, and he's a fantastic artist. Called in for a quick appointment and got booked with John. Went into the shop the next day to meet and discussed the tattoo that I wanted and he was very nice and professional. Asked if he could touch up the tattoo a little bit and I was perfectly okay with that. Come time for the appointment, John was ready and had turned my idea of a tattoo into something beautiful that I loved. The placement and sizing was perfect for me and the design was what I was looking for. The tattoo was almost painless, quick, and done very beautifully!! I didn't get any color in the tattoo but the line work and shading was amazing and well worth the price of the tattoo! I went in to get a second nose piercing beside my current one and my piercer did not pierce where we agreed and marked. I'm very disappointed because this isn't a fixable mistake. I wasn't able to see the piercing mistake until I got in the car due to having to wear the mask (not their fault, they are following guidelines). I was a loyal customer since back when they were in their old building and only had 3-4 artists. I got my first tattoo here in 2016, first piercing in 2018, and I should preface this by saying the tattoos themselves are great. Unfortunately customer service is where they seriously lack quality; it's always been my main gripe with them and at this point it's not something I can look past anymore. The new facility is gorgeous and clean and the staff is usually friendly, but the artists can be extremely unprofessional. The last time I went in I had to wait 45 minutes past my scheduled appointment time because my artist and another had decided to rearrange their rooms (maybe come into work early if it's that important instead of putting it on the customer to wait?) and on both of my previous two trips he hadn't completed the stencils for my tattoos. I'm not talking about finishing up some details; I mean I showed up at my scheduled time and he'd come out, ask a few questions, and then say "ok I'll be back in a bit once I have it drawn up," and then I'd once again have to wait at least 20 minutes to actually start the process of getting tattooed. Not to mention both of these times when we got to the end of the appointment, he charged me based off the total time when I arrived at the building even though he hadn't actually been tattooing that full time due to being unprepared. I recently went to a different shop and paid the SAME PRICE for a gorgeous, very large (took 3 hours) full color piece at a different shop- that I paid for two 2in black and gray outline-only tattoos at Unicorn that took 20 minutes to do. I will never argue with an artist about their prices, but based on the experiences I've had I do feel I've been overcharged for the quality of service I've received, and although I adore all the work I've had done at Unicorn in the past I've found more reasonably priced options with higher quality of customer service elsewhere and probably won't be back which pains me to say. read more

Came in last second for a walk-in tattoo. I felt kinda bad about it, but it was like one of those last second "lets do it" kind of thing. I believe the guy who ended helping us out (even though it was super busy) was Greg. It was 8:30Pm and they were closing in a half an hour but he was super sweet and he squeezed me in. This was a disappointing experience. These guys lacked professionalism from the start, there was no one at the front desk when I arrived, and the artist that was supposed to do my tattoo was no where to be found. After waiting for a far while another artist finally approached me and then had to go find the artist I was meeting with after a good 7-10 minutes. After waiting the artist assumed where I would want my tattoo, based on a phone conversation I had a few days prior. Which, was completely off from what I requested over the phone. When we began conversing about the actual piece he said it was too much text for the location. This much I completely understand, and I was fine with it. However, my issue is after agreeing that this wouldn't work I was told my deposit is non-refundable. $25 is nothing, I really don't care about the money but the whole experience was very off putting. The artist should've/could've reached out via email when I sent the text I wanted to at least get an understanding of what I wanted. Also we could've avoided me wasting the time and money of driving there all together. I've had a lot of work done at many different shops across the country, this was easily my worst experience. My husband surprised me for our anniversary by setting up a consultation with Greg for a new tattoo. I had a tattoo that I was never a fan, so I decided to get a new one to cover up the old one. First and foremost, I love tattoos & piercings. The first tattoo I got didn't come out the way I wanted so ever since then I've been super picky and indecisive about which tattoo shops I'd actually feel confident in going to knowing that they'd be able to comply with exactly what I wanted. My second tattoo came out great, I got it done in my home town but this time I wanted to go somewhere different and a little closer to where I'm living now. So after a few days of research, I found Unicorn Ink. I looked at their work and was impressed. I showed my husband (my husband is pickier than I am about tattoo artists) and he agreed that we can go there and check out their work in person. As soon as we walked in, it didn't look like a typical "in your face, skulls and reapers everywhere" tattoo shop. It felt way more welcoming than most. We spoke directly with Greg, he was very nice. Friendliness is one of the first things I look for in tattoo artists. As soon as I told him what I wanted he gave me his honest opinion and guided me on how certain placements would come out. He also took his time with me since I was super picky about everything. So I changed my mind about the placement- not a big deal at all. As soon as I had decided, he got everything set up right away. To be completely honest, it felt like it had been done in five minutes although it was done in thirty. It did hurt, I'm not gonna lie- it's a tattoo, it's not gonna tickle! After that tattoo was finished, I got a second tattoo on my pinky finger. All in all the service, the atmosphere and experience was awesome. I'll definitely be coming back for more. Greg and Dave went above and beyond for me to construct the perfect tattoos, they were awesome, professional, funny and super sweet. I'm sure if I had met the other artists, I would be saying the same about them. Disclaimer: My real review is more of a 4.5 for reasons that will be detailed during my wall of text. Given even that, I highly recommend Unicorn Ink! Get ready for a long one, folks. I'm going to start at the beginning and give you a full scope of my opinion of Unicorn Ink and my experience overall. They were recommended to me by a friend who got a pretty big sleeve piece done by Greg and a smaller piece on her wrist by Nick. First of all, props to whoever manages their email because I want to say I received a reply to my email within an hour of sending. I wanted to get a pretty simple tattoo as a birthday gift to myself. Two small-ish lines, a quote from a song that means a lot to me. 12 words total. I love that they offer the option of sending an email instead of phone call because I'm 100% bad at phone calls and it offered me the option to send concept pictures. I had an idea of the type of font I wanted but wasn't quite sure what the end product should look like. They were quick and informative. I emailed about two weeks before the appointment I wanted, given pretty much open availability. I was told that due to the simple nature of my tattoo I could come in for a consultation or I could skip it, but I would have to come in if I wanted a quote. I opted to skip the consultation. They told me Nick would be doing my piece, which gave me the opportunity to Instagram stalk him and Unicorn Ink. They seemed pretty rad! I was excited to go in. Skip to two weeks later, July 27th (my birthday) and I walk in about 10-15 minutes early, with my aforementioned friend who had ink done here before. As a gamer I found their entire aesthetic entirely awesome. Video games, huge TV, comfy couches, lots of things to look at. They had sodas available for sale, as well as a coffee machine and a microwave. Very clean! I come in and a very nice girl (sorry I can't remember your name!) gave me paperwork to fill out and ask me to return it with my ID. It was a very quick process. As I'm handing in my paperwork I meet Nick, and he's really nice. He asks me some questions about the size, font, and placement of the tattoo. I express my concerns about having the piece big enough to avoid the ink bleeding (I wanted a font that looked handwritten but not overly cursive). He told me he would come up with a few different font choices and get back to me. It took about 20 minutes and he came back to me with three different font choices. I decide one one and he goes to get a stencil ready. A few minutes later he comes back to grab me so we can look at the stencil. The font is perfect, the size is perfect, and placement is perfect on the first try. From there it's just doing the tattoo itself. Everything is very sanitary. I don't have much to say regarding the tattooing itself as it's been about 8 years since my last tattoo. Nick did a great job - everything turned out great. From start to finish it took about an hour (from the time I walked in until the time the tattoo was done). This is where my experience went down from a 5 to a 4.5. I felt as if the instructions Nick gave me were not 100% clear on how long/how often I was supposed to Aquaphor my tattoo (that is what he recommended) It honestly isn't a big deal - the internet is a thing, and my friend is pretty much an expert on tattoos, and I also probably should have asked more questions when I was there. But I wanted to be honest in that I felt like I was not 100% prepared to take care of my newborn tattoo. Only like... 90%. After I was done (since Nick had done her smaller tattoo a month or so earlier), my friend asked if she could make an appointment to get her tattoo touched up. Nick insisted he had more than enough time and was willing to do so on the spot. While we were there my friend also wanted to talk with the piercer and the lovely lady at the desk went and found him for her. He was also super helpful (and I also forget his name) and gave her specific instructions for the type of piercing she wanted done, including the gauge of the piece she would need to have special ordered. For the 12 words on my left forearm it cost me $125 plus tip. Everyone there was super nice, friendly, the atmosphere was welcoming, I have nothing but nice things to say about Nick and the rest of the team at Unicorn Ink. read more

As many tattoo enthusiasts probably know, going into a tattoo shop on any Friday the 13th can be a nightmare, with long waits, chaos, and subpar flash options. While myself and many others did encounter a very long wait for tattoos (which is pretty much unavoidable given the circumstances), the flash and the people at Unicorn Ink made it more palatable. The shop even went out of its way and provided waiting customers with donuts and pizza. I rarely write reviews. My experience here left a bad taste in my mouth. I came here for a consult with an experienced tattoo artist. When I arrived - my initial thoughts that this was a really cool shop - great colors, spacious, cool artwork, great technology to show off the portfolios of the artists, video game machine. My enthusiasm quickly waned when while waiting for my consult - the shop quickly became invaded by a bunch of teenage alternative lifestyle punks - I couldn't tell if I was sitting in a tattoo shop and not sitting in the arcade of a mall - I learned that there were 2 apprentices in the building but I can tell you it would be a cold day in hell before I would allow either of these poorly behaved, potty mouthed, screeching voice children touch me. I finally had my consult which was great - but the noise emanating from the other side of the shop where these punk kids were hanging out - this is supposed to be a professional business - not a day care center or hang out shelter for homeless and troubled youth. The two professional artists there had great portfolios - very unique and character filled tattoo rooms, but I got to tell you - with the noise - the punk distractions, the screeching voices has made me change my mind and to go find another shop that catered to customers who appreciate a professional shop. I really wanted to get my fourth tattoo here with one of the artists but I want to support artists who are trying to build a strong professional shop and not promoting a hang out space for kids - decide what you want to be gentlemen.... read more

Absolutely Phenomenal! A wonderful experience from start to finish! Dave and Greg worked tirelessly through Emails with me to create my first tattoo and as good as it looked on a screen, I couldn't imagine how amazing it would look when it was done and on me! I really enjoyed talking with Dave out in the lobby about video game stuff. Even though I was nervous about getting my first tattoo, Greg made me feel a lot more relaxed about the whole thing and even laughed at the stupid jokes I was telling to keep myself calm! Unicorn Ink - Greg's work. First Tattoo, came out so much better than I could have hoped for, Thanks to Greg and Dave! - Piercing Near Me - Lincoln, Rhode Island

I went into Unicorn Ink one day after seeing good reviews online. The staff was very nice, the location was clean, and they were able to do my tattoo right away. It was also fairly inexpensive, I think it was about $60 for a tattoo that took an hour. But unfortunately I was ultimately very disappointed by the final product of my tattoo. In fairness, it was my first tattoo, which I mentioned at the time, and in retrospect, I wonder if I was not specific enough. But the tattoo I got was pretty simple, it was a lotus flower. The sketch that the artist did was good, I liked how it had been drawn. But what he drew on paper ended up being different than what is on my ankle. First the lines of the tattoo are pretty thick. I understand that a tattoo line is going to be thicker than the line of a pencil but I have seen so many tattoos with much thinner lines. Again, in retrospect I wonder if I should have clarified that I wanted the lines to be thinner/more delicate but based on the sketch, I did not realize I needed to do that. Second, it is pretty unsymmetrical. Mainly, a couple of the petals are rounded when they were supposed to be pointy and some of the petals are slightly different sizes/widths. Finally, the petals were drawn longer than they were supposed to be wider. So the effect is that it looks more like the outline of a pot leaf than a lotus flower. In fairness, the tattoo is not awful or like really badly botched, it is just not what I was expecting and is not all that much like the sketch. I really do not like criticizing other people's art, but every time I look at my tattoo I am really disappointed. I would not go back and I would not recommend going here. I do not remember the name of the artist but when you walk in, his room/chair was on the far left (this was 6/15). I mean everybody has bad days and people have different vision; I totally recognize that. I really would not recommend this shop for a piercing. The woman at the counter was very nice and friendly, and the studio has a very cool, unique vibe. However, the piercer provided my friend and I with very little information about the process and the cost, so we had to ask him a bunch of questions because he offered up so little on his own. I didn't feel particularly welcomed or comfortable, which is ideally something I'm looking for considering I'm usually already a little nervous about getting poked. The worst part of my experience here was probably the low quality jewelry. The placing of my helix piercing was fine and the process itself was fairly quick and easy, but the jewelry was no good. The first red flag is that he used jewelry with a butterfly back, so we already know it isn't a high quality metal such as titanium or gold, which typically have threaded or threadless posts. I'm not sure exactly what kind of metal it was, but my piercing stayed sore and irritated for a long time. I ended up having to go to Visions in Medway to have the jewelry changed out to a threadless titanium piece because it wasn't healing, and it was incredibly painful to have removed because the scab was attached to the butterfly back at that point. Now it's doing much better and actually starting to heal, but it also developed a keloid. Please don't ever get pierced with low quality metal jewelry or anything with a butterfly back! Your ear/other body part will thank you. Good quality jewelry is absolutely worth the money, as it's more comfortable, makes the healing process easier, and won't cause allergic reactions.
