INFECTED PIERCING I really wanted to love this place, which makes me more upset about the infection and the week of antibiotics I needed after trusting them. I bought a white gold earring recommended by the piercer, which fell out after just 3 days. When I went back that day to have it reinserted, the same piercer who first recommended the earring admitted the post was "too soft". He mentioned they'd just started carrying this manufacturer's jewelry and had to add an extra bend beyond the standard one to keep it in. Worse, he reinserted the jewelry without cleaning my ear, essentially pushing bacteria into the open wound. I returned the next day because it felt off, but was dismissed and told it was fine. Four days after that, I was at Urgent Care: pain, swelling, redness spreading across my ear, warm to the touch. The doctor diagnosed me with cellulitis, removed the earring, and prescribed Ciprofloxacin. When I called to ask for a refund, the owner refused to acknowledge any fault. I understand things go wrong sometimes. What matters is how a business responds. Selling jewelry that isn't fit for purpose, skipping sanitation steps, and then dismissing a customer who ended up in urgent care is not okay. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. read more

I used to swear by this place. Dustin did my septum years ago and it was great, but he's long gone and so is whatever made the shop good. Recently I went for a nostril piercing and the vibe was... different. Megan made me feel awkward for asking about placement and told me my nose is shaped weird so it won't look good (not "your anatomy won't support it"). My eyes watered (because that's normal - I looked this up later and it's typical for piercers to let you know it's totally normal), and when I mentioned it, she didn't reassure me or say it was normal. Just stared at me. They also tried to upsell me on jewelry without showing any of the cheaper options. I asked about cheaper options and they said they wouldn't look good. When I was done I was basically pushed out the door. The whole place feels rushed now - very assembly-line. I've since gone to other studios in MA and realized it doesn't have to feel like that. I learned my lesson a few years ago when I got my second lobe piercings done somewhere else & they were done totally unevenly - it was like the universe telling me to take my ass back to Rockstar. Wish receipt was itemized and showed sizing in case I wanted to buy my own jewelry. They do keep track of your jewelry size cashier told me so might just have to call them. Piercer was quick, explained aftercare, friendly, clean, and they had attentive staff. They charge you to swap out jewelry then you pay for the piercing itself. I had 2 nose studs swapped out. It was quick and painless, I barely felt it. Minimum cost of nose stud starts at $50.00. I would come again for sure. I bought a very expensive earring at Rockstar for my birthday in early April and had it installed in my flat - the same day, it fell out (post had broken). Went in the next day and was told that my only option was to send it in for repair and that it might take a few weeks. Frustrating, but ok. Two months later, still no replacement. Called for a refund and they said they don't do refunds but that I should expect the earring soon. I've disputed the charge and am letting my credit card company handle it from here. He was so thorough throughout the whole process including sanitation and explained exactly what I should do with a cartilage piercing after it heals. I went to Rockstar for my second holes in both ears. I walked right in without an appointment & barely had to wait. The piercing itself was totally painless & I appreciated the attention to detail. The piercer measured the distance meticulously. The only reason for the 1 star off is the pricing: It's REALLY expensive. Even the lowest level of earrings with the cost of the piercing was around $160 total for me. I'm not sure why it's so expensive, but it is & they are good at what they do, plus extremely hygienic. That is everything. I'm planning on going back, despite the high cost, with my daughter only b/c I know I can trust them. Caution: They try to nickel & dime for everything! I went back to get checked. Little did I know that they have different lengths of bars for your earrings, so sometimes they need to be changed post-piercing. Came back to Rockstar for another piercing, this time for my nipples. I walked in on a weekday and was able to get pierced shortly after. My piercer was a Guest Piercer. However, he was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions before, during, and after the process for aftercare. I didn't feel any sense of nervousness and the pain was bearable. I also like how the piercer takes their time in determining the right size jewelry works best for you. Rock on! For lack of a better term, I felt like an absolute rockstar today when I got my ears pierced at Rockstar Body Piercing on Wickenden Street in Providence. Side note: I am the biggest worrywart baby when it comes to pretty much anything, so I put off getting my ears re-pierced for years after an ill fated piercing at the mall-chain-store-that-shall-not-be-named-that-maybe-rhymes-with-"bears" in third grade, with holes that closed like a bad Broadway show after taking out the ear studs too early. Fast forward 15 years, and I'm finally ready after EXTENSIVE research for the right piercing parlor. I know, you might be rolling your eyes, but I wanted to be safe, especially since my ears got infected last time :( Enter Rockstar Body Piercing, whose impeccable online reviews and beautifully designed website touted a state of the art sanitary studio, experienced and compassionate piercers, and gorgeous jewelry to choose from. I was convinced! Scheduling an appointment was easy, and the friendly receptionist took my info over the phone for an ear piercing the following day. They do accept walk ins, but recommend making a reservation in advance, especially if it's your first time visiting. The facility is lovely- very well lit and clean. It's like a punk rock doctor's office. Seriously. Cast aside all your preconceived notions of a piercing studio that's grimy and messy, because Rockstar is the total opposite of this. Part of the reason why I chose Rockstar for my piercing was because of their commitment to cleanliness, and it definitely delivered. Instantly feel welcomed as soon as you walk in. The staff is very helpful and kind. I did not have an appointment and I only waited about 45-50 mins before I was pierced. I got my septum done and I paid $103 including the $10 saline spray, not including tip. A bit pricey but this shop was very sterile, clean, and they know what they are doing. You get what you pay for. I was walked through the process by the piercer, Charlie, I believe, and was not left in the dark about anything. Whole piercing process was very short and not very painful. I have such a love hate relationship with this place. When it's good, it's great but when it's bad, it is absolutely awful. The piercers know what they're doing, I will give them that. I've had my nose, ear lobes and navel done. The staff is usually friendly/welcoming. However all that changes when you want to change your jewelry. I got my ears pierced and after having an issue with changing the jewelry, causing the backs to get extremely irritated and swollen, I went in to ask for longer bars/posts. The person looked at my ears and suggested shorter backings! I thought that was ridiculous and stressed I needed longer ones. They refused. I purchased longer backings myself and after a week my ears were fine! Same issue has been happening with my nose piercing. I've had a few irritation issues and have gone back here multiple times for help on how to fix it. I've followed every suggestion for cleaning etc. and my nose has finally been good for over 6 months now. I went in Saturday 6/18 to get a hoop. The woman at the counter was very nice, and I explained how long I've had it healed (over a year) and my issues etc. she told me I could get a hoop. After waiting for over an hour (also an extremely common occurrence here, the wait times are insane) the piercer who finally was able to look at my nose promptly told me they would not be putting a hoop in. I explained all my healing things and how badly I wanted a hoop and knew my nose would be fine. I was bluntly told a hoop would not be happening and again was told I should put shorter jewelry in. I explained I've had issues with shorter jewelry and was still told that would fix my problem. The fact that I waited an hour (!) for someone to look at my nose for 3 seconds and tell me no is what frustrates me the most. I didn't want to fight so I left. I swear this place wants you to ruin your piercings so they can have you take them out to re-heal and pierce them again (which is not cheap and has been suggested to me multiple times whenever I've gone in with help for irritation). I am always extremely annoyed after leaving this place, especially considering how much I try to follow their suggestions. I go here specifically because they have quality jewelry and I want to have my piercings for a long time. There is always an air of "I don't believe you" in almost every interaction I've had here. The ego levels of most of the piercers are ridiculous and quite apparent when you try and reason with them. I highly doubt I'll be back because I'm so tired of being dismissed every time I go. If you want a quality piercing, sure I'd recommend them. But if you want good customer service, go somewhere else. read more

Not good is too kind. After receiving a piercing at Rockstar in January 2023, I went back to have my jewelry changed with a piece I bought from a reputable body piercing jeweler. Nope unacceptable according to them, but I was "invited" to buy another piece from them. I can state the piece was in its original packaging from the jeweler, 14K WTGD with real diamonds and designed for my piercing. The real issue, piercer (female) did not like my look as I do NOT have full body tattoos nor a full facial piercings.... Yep. Discrimination I look like your average middle aged mom and grandma. I went to Rockstar yesterday after figuring out that I wanted to get my Rook pierced and doing research on not only the piercing, but the best place to do it at. When I came upon Rockstar on Yelp and saw all of the rave reviews, I decided to read almost all of them. To my liking, most everyone said the same thing. So it was because of this that I decided to go to Rockstar. I was not disappointed in my experience. The girl, Kelly, was knowledgeable and friendly and the place was super clean. Much like everyone has stated, they take being sanitary very seriously, changing their gloves often and also sterilizing each piece of jewelry that is going to be put in your body. Rockstar also uses quality jewelry, which I was also looking for. I am not willing to just stick anything in my ear. There's a lot of overpriced crappy jewelry out there. Rockstar has quality jewelry, which is also relieving. Sure, the pieces were a bit pricy and after doing research on what to get, I suppose I could have found jewelry online. However, I wanted to see the jewelry that I was picking out in person. I rather a pay a higher price for quality jewelry that I am going to enjoy, will last and not give me an infection. My piercing as I said earlier is a Rook piercing. I posted a picture for anyone who wants to see. I picked out the color of each piece and they matched the colors for me. The piercing itself was $35. The earring piece was $45. The Rook hurt like no other, but only for a short time. It throbbed the rest of the night, but the next day (today) it has only bothered me if hit by something (like me taking my hoodie off) and then after I cleaned it. The piercing came out great. Kelly, my piercer, was really awesome. She explained everything as she went along. Because I had done research, I had pretty much knew everything she was going to say, which she greatly appreciated. The whole thing probably took 35-45 minutes with all the prepping of the jewelery, sterilizing and the actual piercing. The experience was great and I felt really comfortable, although nervous in general about the pain. I will never go anywhere else for a piercing, that's for sure. I will always go to Rockstar. Oh and for the reviewer who gave Rockstar 4 stars because they didn't have a female piercer for people who want that option. My piercer was Kelly and she was just downright amazing. read more
