I found Unicorn Nails after reading a bunch of Yelp reviews looking for a salon. It's convenient to my house and they had an opening on NYE so I figured I'd give it a try. I wasn't disappointed! The salon was pretty empty so they were able to take a walk-in appointment for a mani-pedi. Everything is very clean and the nail techs are attentive. My gel pedicure including some sort of wax wrap at the end which was great. It's been just under a month and my pedi still looks great. I ended up picking off my gel manicure after 3 weeks, though it hadn't chipped at all. There are many color options and the women working there are incredibly talented - check out their pictures for the designs they can do! I'm looking forward to going back for a cute design next time. They also offer regular polish, powder, and acrylics. The reason for 4 stars is that I think they're a little bit expensive. I ended up spending around $80. read more

I've been with Amy for years at least 6 if not more. I follow her wherever she goes. This is her 2nd salon that she has owned and each one has thrived. The professionalism and talent coming out of this nail salon is amazing . The shop is clean, products used are top notch and up to date with the newest styles and colors. This is my favorite nail place. I think I've seen everyone who works there at least once- for pedicures and more recently for gel manicures. All the mail techs are meticulous and don't rush. Everything I've gotten done here has been really well done and nearly perfect. Most recently I got a gel manicure with "chrome" which I got SO many compliments on. Despite the nail tech working meticulously on my nails for an hour, they started to chip a bit the next day. I called and asked if it was something that could be fixed easily without starting over. The person I spoke to said it could be done easily and scheduled me to come in later that day or the next day. She meticulously fixed my nails and wouldn't even let me give her a tip for that work. I love this place and have recommended it to my friends and will continue going back. read more

I wanted to love Unicorn by all these amazing reviews but unfortunately the way my nails turned out after my first visit with Amy gives this place 2 stars. I walked into Unicorn and thought the space was small and sweet. It was decently decorated and the nail polish options were good. I booked with Amy based on reviews and started my experience with a pedicure. The pedicure was pretty good and if I was basing my review in the pedicure I would give Unicorn 4 stars. However, the issue was my hands. I was told by Amy that SNS would be great and it will make my nails super strong. A girl next to me was getting hers filled with SNS by Annie and they looked pretty good so I thought why not. I skipped the traditional gel manicure and went for this. By the time Amy was done I wasn't really sure what to think. She did the SNS powder (which is gel painted on your nails that is then dipped in powder- and done about 3 times) and then added 3 layers of gel polish. My nails were THICK, uneven and made my hands look wide. My cuticles also were left completely untouched and the overall end result just looked sloppy. (See the pictures) I walked out with a $95 bill and was completely dumbfounded by how different my experience was to the others who post amazing reviews. Amy told me repetitively how all her clients love her, she does a great job, and she wants everyone to be happy- but I wasn't. Amy's nice and I wish her business well but I'll be going to Betty at Elegant Nails in Medford. She fixed the mess ( picture of how they look now with Bettys fixer-upper posted to Elegant's Yelp page ) and I never want my nails to look like they did when I left Unicorn. read more

I have been exclusively going to Amy for my nails for over 2 years. I have followed her to different salons (she is that good). I am thrilled she has her own salon now in Woburn. Plenty of parking and the salon is very clean! Amy is meticulous with cleanliness and the satisfaction of her customers. The salon decor is beautiful. Amy is incredibly skilled and can create the most beautiful designs (check out the pics of some of the work she has done for me). She has all the latest colors and trends. I loved this place, i have sent many many people including everyone in my family, sadly after many years going, all the Christmas presents given, considering them family, my sister brought her 8 month old to get her nails done, along with our mother who was there to watch the baby for her. When my sister reached out to book her next appt, she received this message. Her son was not crying, he was baby talking, and maybe he did cry once. But he's a baby and my mom was there to help quickly. Not even a warning or nothing, spent $100s combined. Is it cause her child is African American? Did a client even complain? Or is it her own preference of becoming toococky in her industry? It's sad, we never saw it coming. She didn't even give her an option and ask her to not bring her child. We get it people go there to relax, but sometimes being a single mom doesn't always allow for that. It's very unfortunate and i feel like steps could of been taken before she was just told not to come, and what does my mom have to do with it? AMY, i would like to see the camera footage of you asking my mom to be quiet, she would NEVER ignore you. She owns a restaurant, she knows what it's like. Unicorn used to be amazing- you really got the sense owner Amy cared about her customers and art so I don't know what changed. It's now common practice to not give people what they ask for (that was confirmed something they could do ahead of time) and instead rudely lecture them about taking too long because the next appointment is waiting. The owner either didn't respond or turned her back to me several times when I just tried to ask her ideas on how to fix my disaster of a nail job. I left with rough, bumpy and unevenly painted nails. Services fairly good depending on who does your nails they do a superb job I do notice however, sometimes when they are behind, they do tend to rush and the results tend to not be as good and that doesn't seem very fair to the long time customer or any customer. I also think they should have one or two slots open for walkins in case of emergencies in case you break your nails or something chips so you can just go in there and get it repaired instead of being told you have to book an appointment for five days out. Last time I broke my nail I had to physically find a different salon which I did not wanna have to do and get my nails done there because of one repair Most salons will accommodate things like that. I love coming to see Amy and her staff. It's impeccably clean and welcoming. Free parking on the street or out back. The sns manis are perfection. Amy's nail art is always perfect! I've searched and I've searched, I found and I came. The Salon is small, but very neat, aesthetically pleasing and has many colors to choose from. I made an appointment this past Saturday, I arrived on time, was taken right away. Amy was great, she listened to what I had to say, made me feel at ease and my nails came out great. Only 4 starts because I've been back many times since my initial visit, and it seems that the quality of the work went down a bit and the price to fix nails fluctuates all the time. $45 for a Gel fill with tip sounds a bit too much now read more

Decided to try a new place because my girl of 5 years left, I chose Unicorn because I like to stay local. Salon was very clean, Shan Shan was very nice and suggested I try gel over my usual dip, I explained the shape I want which she did not do, I also noticed she did one very thin layer of dip then the gel which Im guessing saves them money when ppl ask for dip?! I would of spoken up but she was answering the business phone scheduling appts the entire time she was working on me, she must of taken 15 calls then stopping to go to the appointment book it was very frustrating to say the least, the customer next to me said "You have patience I would of walked out by now". I typically get 3 weeks with my dip but after a week the color was faded and chipping off, I def wont be back. I gave the 2 stars for salon cleanliness. read more

VERY unprofessional. Booking an appointment means nothing to them here. My daughters were both scheduled for mani/pedi appointments today, and even came in 1 hour earlier than their scheduled time- upon the shop's request because of a last minute cancellation. They arrived at the agreed time, my older daughter had her nails done. Then my younger daughter was told she could not have hers done because of a last minute walk-in who for some odd reason was accommodated on the spot (and also was shooting dirty looks at both of my daughters while DEMANDING to be taken care of immediately, WITHOUT AN APPOINTMENT!)... On top of this, my older daughter was charged practically double the amount she was originally quoted. So if you'd like to be quoted $45-$50, and end up being charged $87 instead.. OR just have them decide to not honor your scheduled appointment at all because a rude, pushy, entitled walk-in gets your spot instead... then by all means, go to Unicorn Nails Spa! read more
