I came here sunday for my first time to get my nails done for my birthday, and all i can say is that the staff here were very nice and friendly, very good at keeping a conversation while also doing an amazing job on your nails. So I gave this place 5 stars a few years ago....it has recently change ownership and I personally feel that it has gone down hill. I feel that there is only one (really excellent) worker from the switch over (and she is super excellent so if you get her...you totally luck out). If you don't...the others are ok..decent job. The reason for the 3 stars is the pedicure chair kept stopping and I had to hit the button multiple times. I even asked them to help me make it stay on longer...they said "I don't know". Half of the pedicure experience is the massage chair. You would think that they would move me to a new chair...as all others were empty...nope. As I said..for me...the quality of manicure/pedicure is good, but the pedi chairs need an update...which is why I only gave it 3 stars. read more

Clean and friendly as well as professional. Excellent foot and leg massage which makes the pedicure experience totally relaxing.

They got me a nail artist as soon as I walked in about an hour after they opened on a Saturday. They helped differentiate between the regular and gel paint. I haven't gotten my nails done in like 15 years. I would only prefer to get a manicure here. Parking is street as well as a little lot on the right. They were so friendly and affordable. The first time I went there I was coming out of going to a couple of other bad nail salons this one came highly recommended to me I don't know why. The first week that I had my nails on everything was fine and then without reason they just seem to start breaking because it seems like they were not thick enough with acrylic. I went back to them on Valentine's Day I was charged $50 to have a the Nails replaced & to have them filled in and painted and I tip well so I gave a tip of $10. Upon leaving I noticed that on one hand my ring finger nail was crooked and running into my middle finger. And I asked for the coffin shaped nails which I had never had before but I thought hey this might be a cool thing. The woman cut them with scissors creating a nitch down by my nail line at every one of those niches that she laughed I now have a broken nail by the time I went back in there it was a couple of days later and they just wanted to charge me more money to fix what they screwed up in the first place. RUN RUN RUN RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!! This is just another business that thinks that they can charge people in Melrose money because they think that we have it I don't have it and I didn't get the job that I wanted done and now a week after I have one fingernail that is attached on my left hand one is about to fall off because it is broken and on my right hand I have four fingernails I look like hell I don't have the money to replace this just yet this wasn't in my budget that I was going to have to go back a week later to get my nails fixed read more

I have tried a few other places in Melrose, but stopped searching after finding Angel Nails. I will echo the other reviewers in that this place is CLEAN. Fantastic! This is the first place I've ever been to that has single-use plastic liners for the pedicure basins - so cool and so sterile, I love it! Every pedicure I've received here has lasted at least 2 weeks before starting to look a little tired. I've never tried a manicure with polish, but they did a great job shaping my nails and cleaning up the cuticle on my neglected fingernails. I even trust them so much that I went the day before my recent wedding with my sister to get our "wedding" nails done. I had thought about going in to Boston to get my nails done at a fancy spa, but Angel Nails does such a great job that I thought, "Why bother!" I just came in for a walk in and I'm very impressed by Angel Nail Salon. First thing I noticed was that it's a little place in Melrose on Main Street. It's very accessible with convenient lot parking. I went in for a "classic" (regular) mani/pedi. This is the first time that I have seen anyone had lined the foot tub with plastic, for extra sanitary reasons. The place is very clean. And, the two ladies were very accommodating. I wish that I knew who had done my nails, but she was very intricate with her work. She never rushed through her work. All I cannot emphasize enough about how truly relaxed I was. All I can remember was that, while flipping through a magazine and getting my toes done, I could not control my fingers, attempting to turn the page. It was an amazing feeling. One thing to consider -- You save $1 by choosing the mani/pedi vs. al la carte. $38, instead of $39. I mean, they could do better. Overall, it was a great place to spend time on my day off. Angel nails has been my go-to for mani/pedis for years. The business came under new ownership a few years ago and the quality of service has improved immensely. Judy and the entire staff are amazing, super friendly, and do an excellent job. On the very rare occasion I have a polish chip or broken nail, they take care of it ASAP, no matter how busy they are. Worst manicure I've ever had! Just went in for a simple manicure and was told the OPI polish I picked out was $3 more but doesn't chip and lasts longer than normal polish. I was fine with that. The very next day some of my nails had chipped!! I did notice the technician "thinned out" the top coat with what smelled like polish remover! Asked for square nails. Did I get square? Nope. Even though I asked again. Had to point out all of the parts of the cuticles she missed. Because I'm not cheap, I tipped the tech more than 20%. Not even a thank you! I will never go back there! Oh and I would've gone back the very next day to show them but they were closed. Two days later and I need a new manicure! Think I'll do it myself! read more

I went this place on a Sunday because my normal nail salon was closed and I was in need of a gel mani/pedi on my only free day for weeks. I am very sorry I came in. The gel pedicure that was decent, but nothing to write home about. The gel manicure, however, was not enjoyable. The girl doing my nails was filing and scraping my existing gel off my nails with her own fingernails (gross). She did not speak or even try to engage in conversation with me. I tried starting a conversation with her, but to no avail. 4 days later, 4 of my nails were chipped and noticeably peeled. I called to let them know and asked about coming back in to get them fixed because gels are supposed to last weeks never mind only several days. The woman on the phone said to come in the following day for a polish change and that they would do it for no charge. I showed up on time the next day, and said I was there for my appt and showed them that my nails were chipped (by now 8 out of 10 nails were peeled/chipped). I gave them the benefit of the doubt because maybe I picked a color that was never used, or it was a fluke OPI failure. Either way, I was told to pick out another color and they would be with me shortly. Then two women were speaking in another language obviously talking about my nails and whether to charge me. Finally, the owner then said that they would charge for a polish change. I explained that within 7 days of receiving a gel manicure 8 out of 10 nails were visibly peeling and chipped and that I was not going to pay for them because I paid $70+ a hefty tip for something that was supposed to last a LOT longer than a few days. She continued to say that I had to pick another color then or pay for it. So I said fine, no issues with picking the same color, but her staff told me to pick out another color and that it was a polish change. I said just remove the gel and I'd be on my way, but I wasn't paying for a polish change - so please remove the crappy gel mani or redo what I originally paid for. Then the woman who originally told me to pick a color started in on the aggressive filing and scraping of what was left of my gel mani (using her own fingernails to scrape of gel instead of tools/drill). I left another hefty tip and couldn't get out of there fast enough. Never.going.back. 2 stars because the gel pedicure wasn't a total disaster. read more

I love Oan (I apologize for spelling but it is pronounced as "One")! I moved to the northshore about a yr and a half ago and had tried so many places for my acrylic nails and was so dissatisfied I took them off after having them for 10 yrs! Since this past summer I had been doing the shellac at random places which I just was not happy with. So, I decided to give this place a shot. I am very happy I ended up trying this place on a whim. My nails look perfect! Just like how I use to get them done before. I will definately be here every 2 weeks from now on for a refill! The place itself is cute but little small. After trying several spots in Melrose, I've finally found the one! Best pedicure I've had all summer. They do a great job and pay lots of attention during the massage portion. I also like that they have liners in the foot-baths that still allow the jets to flow in, disposable nail files and pumice, and both times I've been the other tools came out of a sealed autoclave pouch. read more

I went to this nail salon for the first time because a friend recommended it. I arrived at 5:30pm and asked the owner if they had time and she stated that they had plenty of time. I waited about 5 minutes and Mirana greeted me; very lovely girl. She started on my pedicure, took her time and did a really great job. About 6:30pm the owner came to help to start removing my previous gel set; she then took it upon herself to cut and file my nails and directed Mirana to begin cleaning because they close at 7pm. She was rushing and did a horrible job with the filing leaving half my nails crooked. Mirana ended up taking over and fixed what she had screwed up. What's most upsetting is I wasn't the last person in the salon; a woman came after me and she wasn't rushed at all. I am only giving this a 3 star because Mirana was truly great; the owner I found to be unwelcoming, rude and unprofessional to be rushing me. This will not be my new salon. read more

The first time I walked into Angel it was 15 minutes before closing but they were very accommodating and still took their time and did a thorough job. I went to Angel Nails for the first time about one month ago for a gel manicure because of the excellent reviews on Yelp! I loved the service, and my manicure lasted over 3 weeks! I went to another local place (closer to my house) and I was dissatisfied. I went back last night for another manicure, and they were once again excellent. The place is always immaculate. The owner remembered me, and was happy to see me. Amy did my nails, and she was funny and very nice. I walked in around 6:30, and they took me without hesitation (duh for not checking their hours in advance). I will definitely return there in 2 weeks when I am due for another manicure! read more

The clientele as well as the staff were all a bit older, so a different atmosphere. More expensive than my regular pedi, which I think I'll just stick to. I have been going to Angel for several years now. They are so friendly and accommodating. I try and be respectful of their schedules but if I'm running late or didn't make an appointment they always get me in, and always make sure it's with my girl Katie if she's there. Katie takes her time and has my shape and length memorized. If Katie isn't available they usually have Wan see me and she is also excellent! Kathy seems to be the manager or owner and she always comes over to say hi (remembers me by name) and comments on my color, what I'm wearing or how long my nails have gotten. They are also one of the cleanest salons I have ever been to. They put plastic liners in their pedicure tubs, only use new files and will pull the tools out of the plastic before using them. If you are looking to grow out your nails Angel can help you. About 2 years ago I started with acrylic, I was completely new to it and since then I have seen how bad acrylics can be (thick, uneven,, yuck!) and didn't realize how lucky I was. Kathy and Wan do the acrylics. Once my nails grew out under the acrylic I switched to shellac and they are always beautiful! I also can't get enough of their pedicures. I have strayed from time to time and I always regret it, it's never as good as angel! read more
