Our 6 month old pup was presenting with lameness, fever, and fatigue. We went to Urgent Care and saw Dr. Taylor who was able to create a diagnosis plan that didn't break the bank, prioritizing testing for higher likelihood issues and she was able to use those tests to diagnose a rare bone condition (HOD) in our pup, provide us with medication and a treatment plan. All the staff was professional and helpful, we always know our dogs will be in good hands with their staff! We cannot thank Dr. Taylor and the staff at Garland Animal Clinic enough for a speedy diagnosis of a rare condition and a workable plan to get our pup back on the right track! read more

I have been going to Garland for over 23 years. When Dr Boharski ran the clinic it was great, now, not so much. I made an online appointment and it populated my calendar. After a three week wait, I arrived at the clinic to be told I don't have an appointment. There were no cars in the lot, and only one dog owner inside. The receptionist said she would talk to Dr Grace and see if my GSD could be seen. She came back and said no they are to busy with the one client. I would never go back to this place, they were rude, unhelpful, and uncaring. I'll be searching for a new clinic for my dogs. Would only take a minute to redact any information you didn't want me to have, like other employees radiation exposure, and send it over. But here I am, over three weeks with no response from Breana. Very disappointed in my overall experience with Garland Animal Clinic. I was hoping that what I read on previous negative reviews might prove to be "one-offs" or possibly over-exaggerated experiences, but I found that a lot of the concerns echoed across these reviews are quite accurate about this clinic. Throughout the entire way the business presents itself, it is quite clear their priority is to be a mass-market veterinary machine to "process" as many animals as possible. The staff can't keep up with the paperwork behind the counter and is visibly frustrated. They are paging "Dr. _____'s 'Team'...." Often with no response. They want you to drop off your loved one with them to complete procedures behind closed doors where you aren't allowed to accompany them. And at the very first opportunity to upcharge on services to pay for that expensive building on Garland.... They will try and talk you into it without even trying to discuss alternative therapies that are prudent and less invasive first. Now, just watch. This will trigger a shirking of responsibility in the form of "We can't identify you by your name, so we can't verify you were actually a patient here..." anyone who is considering Garland for their animal, should absolutely reach out and message me. I am happy to provide a receipt of services and discuss my experience. They will waste no time in bribing you with a 25% off coupon if you refer another client too them right after your appointment... just packing them in there! Don't fall for the nice "cat" side and "dog" side of the lobby waiting area. The staff couldn't give any less of a shit if the customers fill up the cat side with dogs terrorizing the cats. Both myself and my neighborhood no longer go to Garland Clinic. There are enough compassionate clinics nearby. One non-caring thing they do, they make you deliver you pet in the morning and hold it in a cage. My beloved pet dog broke her teeth trying to get out. Then they charged me for the dental repair. My friend's pet also was treated very badly. She has multiple cats and lovable big dog. She found an excellent vet just down the street on Boone I believe. This clinic cares more about high profits than compassionate care. They do not allow you to witness your pet's care. I have never even seen the "veterinarians." Worst vet experience I ever had. Always have at least one companion pet in the house for the past 50 years, and have never been so disgusted at the level of care. read more

Our family cat was 14 years old, had outlived her siblings. She had begun to have difficulty walking and poor direction when she was walking. We had a painful discussion to have her put to sleep. We called and made an appointment for August 20th. The process was explained to us. We paid $420.00 for the euthanasia and cremation. The vet that came in had a wonderful approach and was very empathetic to our current situation. We were told it would be a couple of days, and we would be called to come pick up her ashes. Fast forward to the 26th of August. We had not received any kind of call from the clinic. My wife called at 8:30 A.M. and spoke with a male, who told us that he would be checking to see if and where our pet's ashes were. We were told the crematorium picked up on Thursday and returned the ashes on Tuesday. Fast forward to 5:15 P.M. No phone call so we called back and spoke with a person named Jason. He stated that he checked the computer and that the ashes had not been returned from the crematorium and that it could take up to 7 days. I spoke with Jason and demanded told him I wanted to speak with a manager. We were left on hold for about 5 minutes. Jason came back on the line and said that he had found the ashes. I still wanted to speak with a manager. Enter Briana to the conversation. I informed her that I was displeased with how we were being treated having been told four different stories regarding our pet's remains. I had requested accountability and someone to be held responsible for this issue. She stated that she was confused and did not understand what exactly I wanted. I re-explained that we paid $420.00 for services that may or may not have been rendered. I took her through the account step by step of promised returning of phone calls and no one calling us back. I asked her if that was not an account to be upset about. She said that she could understand how we could be upset and then offered to explain the process to us. I told her that I did not need to have the process be explained to us as she was on speaker phone at the time. Needless to say, after I said that Briana launched into a diatribe about the process. After she was finished, I asked her if she remembered me telling her that I did not need the process explained to us. She said yes and then I told her that having done that she was wasting my time and disrespecting me as a person. I then told her that the clinic itself now has an accountability issue to the point that I now began to question if what we would be picking up would even be our pet's ashes. She then launched into a monologue of how she had lost pets and/or family members as well. I had to interrupt her to tell her that I was the customer and that I did not need to hear her said tale of woe. She then stated that I was being mean and hung up on me. If Briana cannot understand that she is not the customer, and that customers have the right to lodge a complaint when services are paid for and a financial contract is not fulfilled, then we as customers have a right to be dissatisfied with services rendered. She does not have any ground to stand on by making herself out to be a victim if the customer is not satisfied with services incompletely rendered. read more

In our experience with Garland animal clinic, the doctors are good, the licensed vet techs are pretty good. There is a serious management problem. The management does not treat staff well. I saw another review that had talked about how cranky the receptionist/front desk staff was and knowing how they are treated by management, I don't blame them. I think it is very sad when managers care more about themselves than their staff and the working environment and that appears to be the case here. read more

I took my 5 lbs Shih Tzu puppy in today for his last set of his booster vaccinations. Just a pretty standard, hard to get wrong appointment. When they brought my puppy back to me, they informed me that they had just unintentionally given my dog the rabbies vaccine again, 4 weeks later. I'm sorry, but that is just not okay. Why are you injecting people's animals with vaccines, and not properly documenting them. It is just recklessness at its finest. And then come back up to me when I am paying, and say "We do not think we gave it to him last time, do you remember if we did or not. We just charged you for it last time and gave you his tag for it." Even if you didn't give the shot, why are you charging me for a service you did not perform? You saw that I was annoyed, so what, you decide trying to gaslight me, telling me it poses zero chance for additional side effects. I was visibly annoyed, but did not once say anything. I don't know if this is just a poor lack of management in this facility, but I am going to want answers to this egregious oversight. I'm a very patient person, but I think if associates within this buisness are potentially harming animals because of incompetence, they should at a minimum receive disciplinary action for it. Am I wrong to hold you people to a standard when you are treating my animal. I think the casual "oopsies" does not suffice. I would love a formal apology, and for you to provide documentation and literature that my animal is not going to be adversely effected by this oversight. Please do better! read more

Sadly, I needed to revisit my review for Garland Animal. The last two years has been horrible for all of my pet visits. From scare tactics pushing customers to pay for tests not even related to the visits (had happened three times), charging us for procedures and/or medicines we didn't have, to mixing up my pets gender identity (yes multiple times), to attempting to speak with a manager about the issues, and she didn't care. It's been a nightmare. I would sum it up by saying, growth may be good for some businesses, but when you lose your business integrity, you lose trust of your customers. Therefore you lose true growth and fail. They might be decent to our animals (honestly not sure anymore), but they are horribly rude to their humans. I don't recommend any longer. read more

We had a great experience taking our dog in on short notice. Dr Boharski took quite a bit of time explaining the medical situation and also made sure to give us up-front information about likely costs. The next day, when our dog was ready go home, we got a thorough debrief from Dr Kittridge. She's doing better now, thanks to the great care she got. All the staff we dealt with seemed very dedicated. As one other reviewer noted, sometimes it's tough to reach them by phone. They're pretty busy at the counter, and sometimes you just don't get through. The best thing is to try again in about 15 min or else just go there in person. read more

Garland Animal Clinic is a great find! We looked to Yelp for help in searching for a vet and the other Yelp reviews weren't wrong. They are such friendly staff and the place is very homey. The staff there take such great care of the animals. Once in the exam room they ask you if you have any questions and help you learn more about your pet's health. They keep you posted on the procedures your pet might be having. My cat had ear mites and someone came out to tell me they were solving the problem and he would be out shortly. Pros: 1. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. 2. The vet took a full half hour to talk to me on the phone, since I couldn't go inside the clinic due to COVID restrictions. She asked a lot of great questions so she could better understand some of the behaviors my cat had been showing. 3. She had a lot of suggestions for how to help solve the problem. 4. The receptionist accidentally overbilled me. After finding the problem, she immediately called me, asked me how I wanted the money returned, and then fixed the problem. 5. It was so nice to have a vet clinic with a large parking lot! I don't know what it is about vet clinics but all of the ones I've been to have had parking lots so small I'd have to park on the street. That was not the case here. Even though it was super busy the day I visited, there were plenty of parking spots open. Cons: None that I can think of. A word to the wise: COVID restrictions have made things move a little slower than normal, and you might be seen to later than your appointment time. We had a surgery done this Wednesday to remove a mass from a sugar gliders chest. Two days later the stitches have opened and they are telling us that the doctor on duty does not work on exotics. The doctor that did the surgery is now on maternity leave. I told them that was unacceptable and to please contact the doctor that did the surgery. They refused, I pushed and they hung up on me. They take no responsibility for follow up care on surgeries that have been done on their premises. read more

Took a sick 3 month old kitten to garland animal clinic. She was diagnosed with feline leukemia. She did have a cold so they gave her two different shots that were supposed to help with her immune system to fight the leukemia We were told to come back in three weeks to see how she was which led me to believe she had a good chance of fighting the disease. This was on a Saturday. She hadn't really eaten for a couple of days but when we got home she ate a little which was a good sign ,I thought. Sunday and Monday she didn't eat and her breathing was labored. Wound up taking here to black hawk in Cheney. She was taken back for an exam and when the vet came out he said she had no chance. I asked the vet to relieve her of her pain. The vet there told me leukemia is rare nowadays and she probably should have put down on Saturday. She tried so hard to keep going recognizing my voice and wanting to be held. She was in a daze and wobbled. That little girl should not have suffered like she did and the vet should have known. Please do not take your loved ones to Garland Animal Clinic. read more

I cannot recommend Garland Animal Clinic if excellent care for your pet includes excellent communication regarding that care. I first used the clinic years ago one time when my cat had a UTI. As far as same-day care went, I had a good experience. Kitty received the appropriate antibiotics to take at home and recovered. After we got a new puppy, we chose to return to Garland Animal Clinic to establish care and acquire puppy vaccinations due to my prior good experience. The clinic is on the larger side and seems to deliver pretty comprehensive care. They have their own in-house laboratory and pharmacy, which is appealing at first glance. The lobby is spacious and inviting. As a cat owner I do appreciate that they have a cat-only waiting area and exam room, even if a scaredy kitty may still get stressed out. The cat-only entrance-exit has become a general exit during Covid. During Covid, they are using text messaging from the parking lot to limit the number of guests in the lobby. This has been done well in my opinion. In the 6+ visits I have made in a month's time, my wait has been minimal. The staff are all masked and they are requiring that all human guests don masks. The staff are the greatest assets to this clinic-- from check-in to check-out the front office staff/veterinary assistants have been friendly and as accommodating as possible. The scheduled visits themselves with Dr. Ascaso went okay--she answered my questions, but I found her to be timid and I was the one directing the visit when I wanted general advice about what to expect of my pup's breed/age/exam and how best to set pup up for success. Puppy did leave fairly relaxed after 2 rounds of shots so props for that. The trouble: puppy's routine stool sample was found to be Giardia-positive. After I dropped the sample off, no one from the clinic contacted me after 3-4 business days to notify me that she needed treatment. I called myself when I had not heard from them. The staff member on the phone told me that puppy was positive and that the veterinarian had already prescribed a course of treatment. STRIKE ONE for not following up the lab results with me and thus delaying my pup's treatment. I picked up the medication and puppy received the full course precisely as prescribed. Notably at the time of treatment I was not given instructions for an after-treatment plan (to confirm that treatment was effective). Three weeks after puppy's initial visit, we returned for another round of shots. Dr. Ascaso again had nothing too notable to say or recommend, and did not mention the prior positive Giardia test. I brought it up with her and asked if she would like another stool sample, to which she replied that it would probably be a good idea. Well, puppy's second stool sample was again positive, despite absence of risk factors like poop eating or visiting places like dog parks. To find out the test was positive, I again had to call myself to inquire after 3 business days. Again, the prescription was already submitted by a veterinarian for re-treatment but no one contacted me. STRIKE TWO. In that same phone call, the staff member informed me that treatment course 2 would be identical in agent, dose, and duration to course 1. This does not make any sense to me. I am not a veterinarian, but I am a physician for humans and I suspect the same principle of failed primary therapy applies. Regardless, a conversation was warranted. I asked about adding a second agent to improve chances of success and also requested to speak to the on-call vet directly regarding my concerns. The staff member did forward my request to the on-call vet, and while she approved the second agent (with zero other instructions), she was too busy to speak to me at that time. I was told to expect a call from her prior to closing that day. No such call was made to me. I consulted a friend who is a veterinarian in another city, and she gave me very comprehensive counseling about potentially why puppy was positive again and how to proceed, including indeed adding a second agent but also adding a probiotic, regularly bathing puppy, and possibly temporarily switching to a prescription fiber diet. So helpful. The kind of help I thought I was paying to receive at Garland Animal Clinic, but they fell short. I called the next day to request probiotic from the clinic pharmacy and again to speak to a veterinarian, but was told that the on-call vet (Dr. Sorensen) was too busy AND that I would need to wait at least 24 hours for the probiotic that should have initially been offered to me as an option and needed to be started at the time the second antimicrobial agent was started. I was informed that Dr. Sorensen would call me by close of business. I'm still waiting over 24 hours later. STRIKE THREE. After hundreds of dollars spent for care that included abysmal communication and utter lack of follow-through, Garland Animal Clinic has lost my business. read more

Within 2 weeks my cat had stopped eating and drinking and using the litter box. He had major organ failure. MY CAT IS NOW DEAD AND BURIED! I had to put him down yesterday cuz he was so far gone. Don't bring your pet here unless you're desperate. Which is what I was last month when I brought my dear Sophie in. After examining her, the vet told me they couldn't do anything for her and recommended I take her to WSU to the neurology clinic. The other option was medication. I decided to try the medication route and 2 weeks later wound up bringing her back with further complications. Turned out she had encephalitis and I made the terrible decision to end her life. Not 2 minutes later, a VERY upbeat girl came in offering me several options for cremation. I hadn't had enough time to even process the fact that I was losing my dog and now had to make decisions about urns and pawprints. I declined the fancy urn, but was under the impression that I would still get her ashes. No- because I didn't pay extra for the "private" cremation, my dog got dumped in an oven with other dogs and who knows what happened to her? The manager was very "sorry" about the "misunderstanding". I'd like this place to TRAIN their employees to have a little compassion and make sure that people understand what they're agreeing to. Yesterday I had to do what is the hardest thing for us animal owners. My baby Tucker was 16 yrs 9 months old. He was blind, deaf and had lost control of his bladder , he had been dealing with pancreatic issues for the last 2 yrs and was on a very carefully diet. He had started showing signs of confusion and pain and I did not want my baby to suffer. I called and scheduled the appointment for the latest in the day so I could shower him with love. A party of the foods he had not be able to eat that he once loved and a pup cup on the way . Brought with him his favorite toy ,his giant duck, for him to pass away on,, trying to make this difficult job the most compassionate as I could. Instead they took him from me to another room were I could hear him screaming due to the pain your tech was causing him. You left me in that room for way to long over 20 mins, when you returned you didnt have him but instead I was told there was a problem... Said you would have to sedate him which I didnt like. You kept him from me for another 30 mins with me and my driver pacing in that small room. My friend could not handle it and had to leave. After another 10 mins I had to demand that you bring my baby to me. When you did he was already limp and so out of it he did not even know I was there. This was not him passing calmly, correctly, or compassionately. You traumatized him to the point of having to knock him out complete taking away from him and myself the whole reason for paying such a large amount of money to have him compassionately pass. His last moment were terror, traumatic, scared, confused and devastating to us both. If I did not care about him I would have taken him to the humane society were I would not get to hold him thru the process. I can not get the screams out of my head. This was not just a pet. He was my service dog who served me faithfully and loyally all his life having saved my life twice. He was a hero , my son, my baby, my savior, my heart and you made an already tough situation devastating. Shame on you for putting us thru this. His and my last moments were pure trauma ,something I would never want for anyone. This is not the way you handled his brother passing last yr . and why 2 heavy blankets when you did finally bring him to me ,, it was already hot in there unless you were trying to hide the harm you did to his body when he was screaming in the other room. The anger, rage , pain , frustration in my heart is to immense . Felling like I let my boy down by bringing him to your torture chamber. I get to carry his screams and guilt in my heart for trusting your facility. read more

I had my dog cremated and bought not only an ink paw but a paw print in clay and only got 1 of the 2 ironic because as I went to pay it had a bright colored paper that said needs paw print. These are things that you can't have a re-do on. I am disappointed in how they handled this and also having your dog cremated at a vets that you've been going to for over 10 plus years and getting a vaccination reminder in the mail for the same dog that is no longer here.
