Scruffy has been seen by three different doctors here and now Dr. Bodenstein is his regular. All of them rate highly in my book, and Dr. Bodenstein has been just wonderful. He takes great care, he listens to me when I describe something, answers my questions fully All of the assistants, techs, and doctors Scruffy has seen there have taken great care to calm him and ease what little fear he has, and they do not prescribe unnecessary tests or medications or procedures. This has been our Vet for over 30 years! The front staph is always recognizes us and helps with any questions.!! The veterinarian s are very knowledgeable. We have occasionally had to have our pets ( both dogs and cats) referred to WSU for complex problems and are thankful for this resource as well. read more

I will never return to this clinic after my latest experience. First, front desk staff continue to be some of the most unwelcoming individuals I've encountered in a professional setting. Additionally, Andrew Bodenstein demonstrated an appalling disregard for tact. It's most unfortunate when a person's profession involves human interaction, yet the place of business does not prioritize the experience for the clients it is supposed to serve. this review is a year overdue, whoops! last october, my cat had a urinary stone. it was later in the day and this was the only vet that had room to help us. it was almost fatal, he had to be hospitalized with a catheter for several days. my cat is my emotional support animal and i was a wreck. they let me visit every day, even sending me photos of him and updates. unfortunately my cat's bladder had gotten so full that it became paralyzed and he was not able to urinate on his own. dr. purvis was a saint, she came in every day, including weekends, to drain his bladder and help us teach him how to urinate again. she and the rest of the staff were so supportive and empathetic during such a difficult and scary time. they loved and cared for my cat just as much as i do. its pricier than other vets so i can't afford to take him here regularly, but the care that they showed to my cat and myself was unlike anything ive experienced elsewhere. thank you, thank you, thank you!! read more

VCA Manito Animal Hospital is a remarkable Fear Free office. The office is set up help your pet, in my case 2 cats, to be relaxed. One if my cats is skittish and cautious. He did great in this office. And yes, the care is wonderful and professional. I recommend this office. read more

The staff is great. Very friendly and helpful. The vet Samantha was not friendly at all. She was short, rude and cold. She did not say anything as she walked out of the exam room. I was confused if we were done with the visit. I walked out to the front desk to find out if we were done. This really is not the way to leave a good impression on a new client. My family took all our animals to Dr. Ponti since the 1980's but since Jerry retired and sold the practice to VCA we took the care of our family pets elsewhere. The office now isn't able to keep staff, getting an appointment takes a week or more and the cost seems like it has tripled for substandard care. I have had cats, dogs and horses over the years in various places around the country, and I have always sought out the best veterinary clinic I could find. I have generally been very satisfied with my choices. We recently moved to Spokane and, boy, did I ever find a gem! VCA Manito is not good. They are not satisfactory. They are GREAT. I have two kitties. One is a diabetic with chronic pancreatitis who becomes very aggressive when fearful, while the other is so timid around strangers that he virtually freezes in terror at the vet's office. It becomes a real problem when they need to be boarded. Neither will eat, which is a dangerous problem if they must stay more than a couple of days, and is compounded for my diabetic/pancreatitis-suffering boy because of medication requirements. No sane person wants (or is even able) to medicate a snarling, terrified cat. Not everyone knows how to soothe and encourage the dictionary's definition of a "scaredy-cat". Except for these professionals. Thank God for them! Their skill, gentleness and kindness calms my kitties (and me) to the point where they actually WILL eat. Medication is administered. And terror is greatly minimized. Result? I come back to two kitties who are (make no mistake) happy to be heading home, but are not traumatized, not hissing at each other, and are not starved half to death. They also don't give me the cold shoulder for days because I abandoned them at a scary place. From every, single outstanding employee, front desk to the vets (I have experience with both Dr Purvis and Dr Cathey, who are FANTASTIC), to the Care Club they offer that has allowed me to spread out the payments for two dentals (and has a lot of other cost saving benefits, too), I have never found anywhere that even comes CLOSE to the awesomeness of this clinic! First off I hope my review makes the cut, I don't understand why there are so many good reviews "not recommended"... I agree with every one of them! Read them! I highly recommend VCA Manito Hospital for your vet needs, my husband and I could not be happier with them. We have two cats and one of them had an unfortunate health problem, his urethra would get blocked when he got stressed. The first time it happened we had to take him to the emergency because it was Sunday, but went to VCA on Monday. They were so accommodating helping us get all of the treatment possible yet at the lowest cost possible (the whole process when a kitty gets blocked is not cheap). They even let us borrow a dog-sized pet carrier to take home so we didn't have to pay for the emergency vet overnight. We worked with Dr. Cathey through this process and she was amazing, super caring and healed our Rudy. The sad part is it happened again, there we were back on a Saturday morning with a blocked kitty. I haven't gotten around to thanking Dr. Westra yet, but he was more helpful then he'll ever know. He helped us understand that this issue was never going to go away, and it was not fair to our cat who was suffering tremendously every time this happened. I hope no one ever has to make the decision to put down a young pet (by far the hardest most painful decision we've made), but I'm glad we were at VCA when it happened. The whole staff was very caring and considerate of the whole process. Most vets that I know of try to convince you to spend the money, but Dr. Westra and VCA only care about you and your pets... period. read more

This place is absolutely amazing!! I have an English Mastiff that gets horrible hotspots during summer. I live in CDA so I called around my area first to see if anyone can get my big boy in for same day appointment. I had no luck. So I ended up reaching out to Manito. First off I want to say that the receptionist was amazing! I was overwhelmed, and she made me feel like they actually care about my big guy. She reassured me that they are NOT judgmental and they care about every animal that walks in their clinic. She was able to get me in for a same day appointment. So I just want to say thank you! Second.. the vet assistant was EXTREMELY sweet! She was patient, and she was talking to me as if she knew me forever. Mind you, English mastiffs are big dogs, so it's hard to handle them, especially if they are stressed and uncomfortable, but that didn't stop the vet assistant from being patient with my big guy. They had to sedate him and she kept checking on him to see how he was doing. You are incredible! Thank you! Lastly, the Vet tech Dr. Powell was incredible as well! She was very thorough, patient, and so kind! She handled my big guy like he was her dog and she wanted the best for him. I have been through multiple different animal hospitals with my mastiff and they are never as patient, they judge, and they shame. We have been told we couldn't go back to one because my mastiff would not allow them to treat him. We have not gone back to any of those. I left there knowing that my mastiff will be ok. It sucks that I live so far away from Manito, but if you live close, please consider Manito! Your pet will be taken care of 100%! Thank you to the staff at Manito! All of you are incredible! I LOVE this clinic! I shopped around for a new vet a month ago when we got a new dog and found good reviews on this one. When I called, the lady I spoke with was very pleasant and told me about the free first exam. I thought maybe that was a way to get me in the door and then tell me how expensive, but necessary, there rates were. Not the case. The first exam was free and they explained (without being pushy) about the Care Club. What a good deal! I don't know why people wouldn't do that. All of the staff are very helpful and pleasant and I love Dr. Cathey. She explains things, is not pushy, and is extremely kind. I will be a lifelong customer. read more

This is an exceptional veterinary practice. We recently moved here and luckily found VCA Manito. The entire staff, from the office staff to the veterinarians and assistants, are professional and friendly. In particular, Dr. Cathey is an extremely competent and caring vet. Without going into detail, she diagnosed and fixed a chronic issue with our elder cat Kuri, something that several other vets had been unable to do. This is overdue, but I have high praise for Dr. Purvis @ VCA Manito. I came home from a late Friday work shift in August to my 11 year old Schnauzer Bichon Mix who was on the back patio, His back legs were paralyzed and he was unable to walk or stand. I carried him in and called Manito vet clinic as soon as they opened on Saturday morning. They had me bring him right in. Dr. Purvis examined him and explained what she thought it might be and took an xray, and explained the options available in the area - for what she diagnosed as a ruptured disc. She prepared me for the costs of a surgery and then went over other options as surgery would astronomically costly (not performed at Manito VCA) and recovery would be long and not always successful. Dr. Purvis was very gentle with my dog and with my feelings. She treated him for about 2 to 3 months with checkups, advice and medications. I am happy to say my little dogbe is happily running and jumping now. He has made an almost full recovery with Dr. Purvis's expert care and advice. Thanks read more

This is a WONDERFUL Vet clinic! They took excellent care of our sick dog! The office staff is very pleasant to deal with and very prompt with appointments. The veterinarians are very professional, caring and knowledgeable. They did NOT push for any unnecessary tests.
