Don't dry clean your clothes here. They don't know what there doing. It's a huge disorganized mess with old machines that damage clothes. They ruined my very expensive work slacks, a few sweaters that were new look now machine washed and all my clothes I dry cleaned there have white streaks. How is it that I get my brand new sweaters back with a bad ordor & a strong scent?! The strong floral scent smelled like really bad. Like someone that wears a lot of fragrance. The guy that works there said it was Downey and that they actually wash the clothes!? The owners son needs anger management because he snapped when I started questioning all the damage on my clothes. You could tell he's crazy by just looking at him. Disrespectful, zero customer service and he told me he didn't have to service me, that he didn't care about my service. For starters if you're not a sheriff, cop or any sort of law enforcement you're already out of place being here. Came in to get something cleaned and dried due to being a big piece and it didn't fit in standard washer dryers, the lady on the phone sounded condescending when I called. I walk in and he has all these law enforcement uniforms like trophies in the front, the guy seemed extremely sus off the bat. Told me how he wasn't going to make any money off doing business for me. I normally pay $30 in silverlake and he charged me $40 in East la. When I picked it up he hands it to me and starts telling me once again how he made no money off it. I've known about Union Cleaners for a long time, my dad used to take his uniforms here to get dry cleaned. I recently gave a coworker a ride home who actually lives in the building above Union and he told me to give them a try. At the time I was taking my uniforms to another cleaners every week and was paying way too much. With that said I gave them a try and I've been going to Union ever since. I'm a bus operator for the MTA and I can't tell you how many other bus operators I see taking their uniforms to get dry cleaned here, you also see a lot of LA Sheriffs taking in their uniforms too. They've done minor alteration work on my uniforms which came out great, they also did some work to my dress suit that came out wonderful. They're fair priced, I was spending $50 plus getting my uniforms dry cleaned at another cleaners, Union charges me half and does an even better job. I only have one complaint, they open kind of late. I'm an early bird and I like to drop off my uniforms early in the morning and they don't open until 11am-ish. However, they're open pretty late. One night, in fact, I called to see how late they'd be open so I could pick up my uniforms and the gentleman on the phone said he'd wait for me - AND HE DID! I highly suggest this place. read more

The man working there was such a weirdo. He started talking to me and showing me one of his necklaces explaining the meaning of his necklace. He started preaching to me about God and Drew a picture behind my receipt about how 80% of the world is going to die and 20% will be saved by God. He started telling me that people all they care about is sex and alcohol. I just wanted to get my shirts cleaned.. If you check my profile, you will know that I usually don't give business a bad rating because I try to be fair and understanding, but this time I have to say that if I could give a negative review I would. The first time that I came here to drop off my curtains everyone was very nice to me. After that, everything went downhill. They told me to come and pick the up on Friday. When I went to pick them up I wanted to dye. My curtain was completely ruined, the owner I believe his name is Javier, said that one of my curtains had glue and when he put it in the machine it ruined it. I understand that things happen once in a while, but what my issue was that all I'm not an expert with curtains, that is not my business, and that's exactly why I'm taking my curtains to an expert so they can do a professional job at cleaning them. After arguing with them for hours he agreed to fix it and to come and pick it up in a week. after a week I called him to make sure it was ready before actually showing up, he kept on extending the date since he said that he was busy and he didn't have time to fix it. Eventually, he stopped answering my calls, and never returned my voice messages. I went to the actual facility to see if I could speak to someone and the shop was close, this was about 2:00 pm. The next day I did the same thing and again nothing, no one was there. I was very frustrated with the situation, so we ended up adding another curtain to replace the missing one since we run a business and we couldn't wait for them. We got busy with the business, so I gave them a few weeks to show up, even though at that point I felt like I had lost my curtain and I wasn't going to be able to do anything. After a few weeks, I send one of my staff members to go and check with them, they didn't have it ready again. We needed to iron linen for our tables so they sweet talk us and acted very nice again so we ended up given them the job while they said that they were going to have the curtain ready for us when we picked up the linens. Huge mistake! We had told them that we were going to pick them up on Monday. Friday night at 11:30 pm I get a call from my girl who took the linens telling me that she is getting a call from the cleaners company telling her that we needed to go and pick up the linen now because he didn't have space to have them and he had more clients. Why in the world would that be our problem? I felt so embarrassed to my staff because she was getting calls about work from a business that I told her to go to that obviously doesn't know how anything about professionalism. She told them that she wasn't going to be able to pick it up until Monday. When Monday comes she got about 3 - 4 calls from them harassing her to come and pick up the linens from them because they didn't have space for them. Extremely rude! and my curtain still had stains and returned to me in bad conditions. My curtain is ivory and they try to fix my curtain with black thread. I was soooooo frustrated about it. I will never ever recommend this business to anyone. They do act nice when you first go to get you in, but after that, they do not care about you at all, they just want your money. If you want to find the best dry cleaning (and coffee) in town, go to where the cops go. Union Cleaners is the place for East LA. When you walk in and see that what looks like a quarter of the clothes on the racks are LA Sheriffs uniforms, that is a good sign. They also do alterations and repairs at low prices - I've saved money getting clothes fixed here rather than having to replace them, plus they hem all my jeans and pants. I brought two of my double breasted coats confidently here because my friend is always looking sharp! Javier does great work, Is super friendly and has no problem putting the measuring tape down and having a conversation with you. I came in to get a suit cleaned and to get my slacks altered. I had used this family owned cleaners for years on and off I trust them with custom made Raiders Jackets always flawless and like new, lately all my scrubs ended up in their hands and I had very good compliments for my uniforms at work, Josh the owners son is so detailed oriented and careful with all my clothes including dresses otherwise I can't wear proudly, I witnessed some people getting upset about something going wrong with their clothes but I found out is a way to get the service for free very sad this people is not willing to pay for their services and hard work this place is very affordable and convenient important for our nerborhood, don't let people with bad comments taking you away from this kinds of business, try it for yourself. I'm amazed more people haven't written rave reviews about this place! I went on the suggestion of a friend who's dog used her couch as dining table for a jar of coconut oil and Union removed the tough grease stain from the upholstery for an incredibly reasonable price. So despite that it is very much out of the way for me, I had to try it out. My first trip there I brought an expensive jacket which several cleaners in New York City refused to even attempt to clean because it has both silk and leather components. They took on the job and made a significant dent in some really set in stains. I was amazed. For that, a pair of pants, a dress and another blazer-type jacket, I paid less than $30! They were also honest with me about tougher jobs I brought to them and gave me sound advice on how to remove stains and clean them myself better than they could. On top of the excellent service and super-low price, the owners are friendly and courteous. I will bring all my dry cleaning to Union! read more

The owner and I always engage in small talk which to me is always a good thing. He always has my stuff ready on time and I have no complaints so far. They open late and close early. I took my clothes here, I showed up on the scheduled pick up date and my stuff wasn't ready. I show up the following day and it's closed. I waited till noon, I call the place and the owner picks up. I asked if his business was open and he tells me "no, I'm still in bed... come down, I'm here" Come on guy, be a little more professional. I get there and nobody is at the counter, so I call him again, because there is no service bell, and the owner comes from the back super upset. I'm giving you business you prick, the least you could do is treat all of your customers with some respect. It's, funny I should've known this guy was irresponsible when I asked one of his neighbors what time they opened and the guy responds, " they open whenever they want, sometimes on time, sometimes late. Javier (owner) is the type of person that you either love or hate. I personally, do not care for his personal chit chats every single time I come here. BUT, you cannot get the work he does at the same price in the same amount of time anywhere else. I have been coming to this business since 1992. I have NEVER have a problem with my clothes being ruined, or not done on time. I am also not the type of person who waits to have things done at the last minute, and then bitch about it. I always give him extra time. I drop my things off one day, he tells me to come back two or three days later, but I always come back a week or so after. I always call him BEFORE stopping by to make sure my stuff is ready, and to make sure the business is open. This is a family-operated business. If the owner needs to leave, he will leave! So, if you don't want to be surprised about it not being open, CALL AHEAD OF TIME. I do not know what I will do when/if this business ever closes. I do not trust anyone else. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST! They ruined several of my clothes and just gave me the runaround! They are the worst tailors and dont know wtf theyre doing! They return clothes dirty and smelling like garbage! Then i noticed they have kids jumping and playing all over customer's clothes! And they even have little kids stitiching them! They also cook on portable stoves near the garments and stink everything up! BTW they also own Garden City Cleaners on Whittier blvd...... Okey so here's the deal I've gone to Union dry cleaner for the fact I live super close, and as everyone here has said, good costumer service....until today. I went and dropped off two ties, usually get charged 2.50 for each. This current time I went in I didn't realize they charged me $8.00 for two ties! (didn't see the receipt,until I got home) So I called and ask how much they charge for a tie...once again they said 2.50 (the main owner) ...so I go and pick them up and am told its going to be 8.00. I tell the guy(the owner) I always get charged 5 dollars for both. He says it's cause he gave me discounts the time I went in (which he never mentioned to me when I had gone before) and basically starts lying to me and saying that hangers,the plastic for the hangers, and rent is more expensive...I understood that BUT I HAD CALLED THAT VERY SAME DAY AND WAS TOLD 2.50 FOR TIES. I don't like feeling like I'm getting ripped off... He ended up telling me ties are now 3.50... He gave me both ties for $5.00 at the end. It just sucks that they tried to overcharge me and then tried lying to me after I had called only 30-40 mins before I went in to ask how much it REALLY was to dry clean my ties. It was first 4 bucks for each, then 3.50, then 2.50... I just don't like that type of shady service. Oh and for the cherry on top he almost lost my ties, he took over 10 mins trying to find it. I've used UC&D for years and I know the family, recently stopped in April 2013 as they lost a new pant. Didn't care about the lost item despite it was brand new, I was disappointed the family owned cleaners used every excuse on the book. By my third visit, I gave up and stopped returning for the lost item (they insisted I return) time, effort and gas wasted. They showed me similar pants that others never got back hoping to find mine? (This was a RED FLAG) I never got store credit, refund, or new pants, and not even an apology... NADA! Two months after they call me [June] letting me know my pant was ready? Got my new pant back, the cashier gave me push back on my last visit because I questioned her why this happened - still no apology. I would NEVER ever recommend this cleaners they sure do loose a lot of clothes.
