Neither my wife nor I had ever had a mental "vision board" of what we would want our wedding to be like one day, but one thing she did always know is that she wanted to get married in a traje de charro. El Charrito fulfilled that dream beyond either of our wildest imaginings. As a queer Chicana, my wife was a little nervous heading to suit shops, as she wasn't sure how she would be received, but El Charrito was extremely kind and welcoming to her. I didn't go in myself because we both wanted each other's suits to be a surprise (I'm the one writing the review because this kind of thing is more in my wheelhouse haha), but she was just so happy throughout the entire experience. The team was easy to work with and delivered a high-quality suit with a pretty darn quick turnaround time. My wife's traje de charro turned out amazing and was the absolute star of our wedding. I decided to treat myself for my birthday and bought myself a black Dodger jersey. All I wanted for my birthday was to get my dads # and the family name in the back. I did some research and found 3 embroidery places near my home. 2 of them had bad reviews. El Charro actually had good reviews and also recommended my neighbor recommended it as well. My fiance actually took my jersey without me knowing and took it here to get the name and #. The stitching looks amazing and professionally done. I loved my jersey before but I really love it now. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because I wish the letters and the numbers were the same color but it still kills great. My jersey wasn't damaged in any way. In addition to my suit, my ELEVEN groomsmen also rented their charro suits from here and were very pleased with the overall look and feel of the quiality suits. I really appreciate the fact that the owners tackled on the task of filling the order for 11 groomsmen (all of different heights and sizes), as well as custom making my own suit. My wife loved how the suit looked and I received endless compliments from the guests at my wedding. Great service and great attention to detail. Only concern, but is not a reason to drop a star IMO, is that the accessories they sell tend to he quite pricey. All suede material, black and grey. Colors match so good, the patterns where done with detail and just how I wanted them. They even put my fierro with my initials. I made my suit here for sabado de gloria. It's a tradition in Jerez Zacatecas where everyone is in there charro suit and there well groomed horse. More like a parade with thousands of horses. Thank you El Charrito for taking on the task of fixing a suit and another jacket I had made before finding them. They saw the horrible job Jorge Tello of La casa del Mariachi did on my suits and tried their best to fix them. They ended up adjusting on the back and waist areas and fixing the chests. They also had to cut the shoulders and shorten them about an inch, which is really difficult and almost no tailor wants to do it, especially if it's someone else's work. Really professional service. Great little Mom n Pop tailor shop in Boyle Heights. I'm guessing by the sign out front that this is not their first decade in business. They did some great work on one of my pair of pants. They also produce and sell a variety of fashionable Mexican items including torero belts and cowboy suits reminiscent of Nudie Cohn Rhinestone country westerns. As I was leaving they wanted to take a picture with me at the door. Apparently in all their years of business no one over the height of 5'11 has ever entered their little shop. read more

I needed to find a tailor who could custom make a doctoral hood for graduation and I could not find one locally. On campus I was disappointed with the quality and price. I finally came across this small tailor shop in ELA who specialized in Mariachi Suits and who do not typically make graduation regalia. However, from a sample I provided to them, they crafted the most beautiful and well made hood I have seen thus far. The price was half of what I would have paid online and on campus, and it took them but a blink of eye to produce the piece. I am so happy with my doctoral hood I have referred several classmates to have their hoods made at this shop. True artisans. I will continue to send students their way and wish them much success.
