The music is never overbearing or too loud like some shops, and it really feels like a second home. My husband passed away six months ago, and I wasn't sure yet if I wanted to add something small alongside it--something subtle that felt like "us," without taking anything away from the signature itself. This is the second time that I've been to the tattoo and piercing shop; the first time I went with a friend and also came in for a repiercing due to a hospitalization. I'm hoping this will be the last time that I go to this shop for a repiercing, but I will definitely come back here if I have to. Joslyn was extremely professional and made sure I felt comfortable the entire time during the piercing process by double checking that it didn't hurt. I had to purchase one of their steel titanium jewelry ($15 was the cheapest one) and was not allowed to use my own jewelry that I bought from Laughing Buddha. Which is totally understandable and makes sense as to why they don't use other jewelry outside of their own. I think it also specifies in their rules or contract that you're not allowed to bring in outside jewelry, but I would call to make sure. I also did not like that they didn't have a more comfortable waiting/seating area. Those tiny chairs on wheels are not really plus-sized friendly and I would have appreciated a regular chair instead of those. The online booking experience for an appointment within 3 days was easy to use on their website. I believe there was a $5 security deposit that goes into your overall total at the end of your piercing/tattoo session. In fact, my piercer Joslyn even emailed me to ask questions about my piercing history and whatnot. I really appreciated her attentiveness to detail and for taking the initiative to understand her customer's needs. Overall, I had a pleasant experience with my piercer Joslyn and would highly recommend her for your piercing needs. Thanks again!!

The service itself seemed fine, done by a nice female piercer who made the service quick and relatively painless. Flash forward 5 years, and my piercings have still never healed correctly. I'd gone into a piercing shop yesterday to have them taper my left piercing open, before I was able to get jewelry back in after taking them out for a procedure. I only had the jewelry out for two hours, max. The piercer told me that my nipples have never healed correctly because of how they were pierced. The placement was far too close to the base, which I've suspected all along since the right piercing had never stopped giving me issues. (Left one was the one that had closed up and had to be tapered open, interestingly enough.) The tattoo from a past-his-prime artist is one thing, it's just a funny story now. I kinda find the tattoo endearing, even. But a misplaced piercing on a super intimate area? From a female piercer as well who should have known her anatomy better? I don't live in the area anymore, so there's no point in me making the trek to come into your shop to get anything fixed. I'm just updating my review to communicate how upset I am that BOTH the services I got done at your shop got butchered. And it's literally caused me unnecessary pain and suffering. I now have to consider removing my nipple piercings and getting them redone correctly, if I ever want the issues I've had from them to go away. I've also been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and many other medical conditions since I got this piercing 5 years ago, so getting them redone or getting any tattoos or piercings at all isn't something I consider lightly- the pain and healing is different for me. That's all. Coming back to "chime in" because ya'll did me worse than I'd even previously realized.

Union Electric is clean and talented. I went in March of this year to Big Five for my first big custom tattoo because I had seen his work and it was the style I was looking for. It came out better than I could have ever pictured on my own and I am so proud of it. Big Five and all the guys there are accommodating and respectful. This place rocks and I already have an appointment for my next tattoo. Checking out their website, unionelectrictattoo.com , is a must so that you can see out the variety of talent and how consistently awesome their art is. Go to Union Electric if you want a great tattoo that you will love. i am from Michigan and did not know where to get a tattoo in the south bay, so i called around. i talked to Jon and he was very polite and helpful, i only have 3 tattoos so i am not a seasoned tattoo getter. anyway, he explained everything to me without the attitudes and dick hole ish vibes that i got from the other shops i called. more importantly he did some really nice script on my self and my friend, he took the extra time to draw it up a couple times to get it exactly how i wanted ti. tattoo came out AMAZING, healed up in a few days and still looks great ( its been a few months). i would highly recommend him to anyone who wants to get a tattoo. thanks Jon Daniel! read more

I have known Big 5 for a couple years now and was introduced through a mutual friend. I don't live in the area so I have not visited the shop just yet, but they came up a couple years ago to a local tattoo convention. I had been emailing Big 5 prior to his visit about what I wanted and he did not disappoint. He knew exactly what I wanted and had it ready to go once I got to the convention.
