Celebrated my sister and new brother's wedding this past weekend! It seemed in the beginning weather and heat would be an issue but everything ended up working out perfectly! There was a short ceremony in a heated tent rental right next to union and post before adjourning to the restaurant for the reception. We were able to connect our phones to the speaker system in the restaurant to play music. The staff were INCREDIBLE! They were fun, kept an eye on the food replenishing as needed and took the best care of us and the guests the whole weekend! read more

I never review. Absolute worst experience I've ever had. Took 45 min to get our drinks. Ordered 2 prime ribs and a burger asked for Medium and medium rare. After another 45 minutes all meals came out well done. Told the waitress and she said we'll just take off the bill bc making a new meal will take too long, instead of prioritizing a family that has been sitting there for almost 2 hours. We were in active discussions with Union + Post for two weeks to reserve a room block for our wedding. They repeatedly confirmed that a contract would be sent. The very next day after that confirmation, we were informed that the rooms had been given to someone else, with no warning, explanation, or apology beyond a cursory "sorry." This level of disorganization and lack of professional communication is unacceptable, especially for something as important as a wedding. Planning around this hotel's promises caused unnecessary stress and wasted valuable time. If you're planning a wedding or any event that requires reliable coordination, I would strongly advise looking elsewhere. read more

I'm shocked by the inconsistent reviews and the overall low rating. Union + Post was one of the few restaurants in the area that's actually opened on Wednesdays and it happened to be right next door to Eastwind where we were staying so this was a convenient spot for drinks and dinner. The restaurant is spacious and gorgeous. It was pretty empty but not shocking given it was a Wednesday night. The staff was super pleasant, especially the bartender! The drinks and the food were all excellent and came out in a timely manner. I had the ski bum cocktail (basically a pomegranate margarita) and my fiancé had the smoked old fashioned. We shared the whipped ricotta app and the white flatbread. Both were super flavorful, creative dishes, and a decent portion that left us both satisfied. U&P is one of my favorite places on Earth!!! The food is almost as wonderful as the staff. The rooms are super cute and the location is unbeatable. Wow ! What a great find ! We had been up here for the weekend. Friends recommended union and post. Glad they did. First of all they make excellent cocktails. One of the best old fashioned's I have had. Yes they use Luxardo cherries . On to the food. We started off with the spinach artichoke dip and Brussels sprouts as well as the honey ricotta and also an order of meatballs. All the appetizers where outstanding. The hotel is located in such a convenient place, so close to all the Catskills has to offer. The hotel itself is chic, hip, and unique - it has everything you need to enjoy a nice weekend in the mountains. The room was clean, stylish, and super comfortable! Would not recommend. Service is very slow (but friendly), and the food just not good. Comical the prices being charged with quality of food served. The space itself is aesthetically nice but simply not worth it. For reference, we had mushroom truffle ravioli (out of ravioli so replaced with cavatelli) which was basically inedible. The pasta not fully cooked, and the sauce just flat out bad. Maybe the substitute from ravioli to cavatelli impacted. We also got the steak frites which were just a large plate of fries and the smallest, well done piece piece of "steak" I've seen. NOTHING like the pictures I've seen on here and google (which is why I ordered). Would guess they are understaffed so can't blame much for slow service, but there is no excuse for food like that at those prices. read more

I have to chime in because the overall low rating of this place was very much inconsistent with our experience. We walked in on New Year's Eve and sat at the bar- the staff was incredibly kind and attentive, and we were impressed by the menu options. We ordered the Burrata appetizer and really enjoyed it. My husband got the burger and he said it was the best he's had in a while. I got the broccoli rabe and sausage dish, and I would definitely order it again. Super flavorful and not too oily. Im not even sure the gremolata was actually gremolata, it was their take on a gremolata but I think it had raw shallots in it- not good. I get it, it's boring cauliflower, but if you can't make right then don't make it at all. Stew appetizer, was good. Burger was good. For the prices the food should have been phenomenal, but instead it was just ok. Also, a bloody Mary is $20. read more

We have tried this restaurant 3 times and have had decent experiences. Service is very slow- 30min for one app-whipped ricotta- on a quiet night with many empty tables. Although slow to come the food has been good. It is pricey restaurant- Burger $24 with side salad or fries. 4 burgers, 1 bottle of moderately priced wine, and 1 app our bill was almost $200. They do take reservations on Resy which is good, not many restaurants in the area take reservations. Also open on Wednesday nights- not many options open in town do nice to have another option. My wife and I took a trip up to Windham a couple weeks ago and stayed at Union + Post. Our room was great, spacious and very clean with a really comfortable bed. They allow pets too, so we were able to bring our cat on the trip with us. There's free WiFi and the TV has basically every channel/app you could need. All in all, we were very happy with our stay. We also had dinner one of the nights at their restaurant and we both loved all of the food. I had the burger which was delicious and the spinach/artichoke dip really hit the spot as well. I can also recommend the brussels sprouts which are really flavorful. They have a bunch of beers on tap, there are TVs playing sports, and they even had live music when we were there - not sure if that's a regular thing every weekend or not but it was still pretty cool and a fun time. There also is an upstairs with lounge chairs/tables set up which is a cool spot to sit and relax that's a little bit quieter than downstairs near the bar. They had a nice crowd when we were there and I hope they keep doing well. read more

A nightmare of a place to stay My family and i stayed here so i have several of their experiences as well, they are too old for yelp Rooms $600 with $50 experience of value 1. Rooms have NO CLOSETS 2. My senior auntie who walks with a cane upon arriving at her room the code didn't work so we had to get the 1 person downstairs in an office to come issue a new one 3. There NO hangers in my rooms and only 2 in another aunts room so she shared 4. NO IRONS or ironing boards in the room, what a wonderful addition for a destination wedding with all our clothes needing ironing 5. My uncles expresso maker in his room, BROKEN and NO COFFEE makers in the rooms ‍ my uncles expresso maker was leaking water and had to be "rebooted" with the 4 tablespoon serving of expresso that these machines drooled out 6. No key cards or keys just a 4 digit code, not too keen for my mother with dementia 7. No microwaves in the room Reports keep rolling in, i'll update as needed So continue to be RIPPED off by this tourist trap of a nightmare Thank god our wedding was great !!! Stayed at Union + Post for a weekend getaway a few months ago. The location is perfect, a 5 minute drive from the mountain and also from the gas station, coffee spot, etc. The room was very clean, the water pressure in the shower was perfect, and the bed was super comfortable (extremely important for me). We dined at the restaurant that evening with some friends with 2 children. I had the hot honey chicken-- highly recommend! The kids ordered from the kids menu- this place is super kids friendly. We stayed after for a few drinks after dinner after our friends left, they had live music by the fire place and it really turned into a fun dancing spot. Overall, I loved the vibe there, our server Missy was great, super friendly and attentive. Can't wait to go back up soon! read more

The restaurant was completely empty. The staff was nice and accommodating, yes it was a Wednesday night so yes this place was open, but would I return...probably, not really. To start we spent all day on the mountain and wanted a good drink. A beer would have done but we chose to dive into the cocktail menu for a Mezcal drink. Well, they didn't have all the ingredients. So for $18.00 a drink they couldn't even make it, so we chose martinis. ( to jump ahead they charged $20 a pop for those) We had the butternut squash soup which was good but also cost 17 dollars and could have come out of a box. The carrots were murdered on the grill but the best thing I paid for at $8.00. Now, the main meal.... to get to the flatbread is a tragedy. A FLATBREAD!!! The simplest one. The red one.... Ugh Must have been a frozen piece of "flatbread" with like the worst sauce and cheese: IN THE END DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON FOOD HERE AND MAYBE THEY WILL LEARN HOW TO COMPENSATE FOR MISSING INGREDIENTS AND DO THE RIGHT THING AND CHARGE THE PRICE OF DRINK THEY DIDN'T HAVE. Yikes. This place has a nice space, but they have not figured out how to operate. Went there recently and: 1) had to wait one and half hours for food, and 2) when food came it was wrong. I'd ordered a steak; but, after waiting an hour and a half, I was told they were out of every kind of steak & given a choice of burger or chicken. (Why didn't they tell me earlier?) To top that off, my wife had ordered a salad. (No idea how a cold salad takes over an hour.) But the salad had a rubber band in it. Which suggests they're not actually washing the salad properly. One plus: the waitress was apologetic & didn't charge us for the mistakes. But I've worked in food service & this is really not acceptable. If you're out of food, tell the customers & let them select a replacement (don't wait); if food is going to take over an hour, give people a warning when they order (and the place wasn't that busy). Unless they change their act, going here is a gamble! Will you get what you ordered, or something random? Will you wait over an hour for food? Will your food be clean & safe to eat? Who knows! We waited 20 minutes at the table before anyone greeted us. We actually went to the bar to get our own drinks. The busser was the only employee there that asked how it was. The appetizer, of burrata was so good and the recommendation to use balsamic glaze and olive oil with it was on point! The dinners we had, the chicken pot pie and the New York strip were both perfect! They were cooked amazing, flavors on point and didn't live a bite left. The desert of bread pudding with the maple glaze was a perfect ending! My man of honor made a reservation for my Bachelorette party weekend here for dinner this past Saturday. Our reservation was at 7 pm. We arrived on time and were promptly seated. It was moderately busy and there was a wedding upstairs (which we were informed of later on in the night). Our drinks, app and entree orders were taken. The drinks and apps came out. Apps were good, but my salad was $17 and was a handful of lettuce and some greens / veggies. The spinach artichoke dip was good also. Then started the long wait for our food. It was about 8:30 and we were starting to wonder what was going on, however it was like we were forgotten. No waitress came over , our waters were empty, drinks were empty. We asked what was going on and were told there was a wedding upstairs coupled with there being new staff, it being busier than normal and a new menu. We were told this by our waitress and dining room manager (and later on the owner). They offered a round of drinks on them and we requested some more apps as we were very hungry. They gave us a round of shots and five stalks of their asparagus (side order) and about 5 chicken wings, which quickly vanished and didn't do much. At this point it was now 9:30. Meals came out two at a time with much delay in between. My friends pork was raw and some of my sister in-laws scallops were also raw in the middle. My other friends steak was also not cooked correctly. My friend told waitress about pork and when it came back was inedible as it was so overcooked and tough. The rest of the table, except myself (who ordered the mussels appetizer as my entree), finally got their orders. By the time I got my mussels, everyone was done eating and a few people had even headed back to our air bnb as it was now past 10 pm and the rest of the plans we had made for our evening in town for my Bachelorette party we couldn't do since it took so long to get our dinner. My mussels were ok, but I was so hungry by that point that I just inhaled them without thinking. The bill came to $700. The only thing they credited back to us was the round of shots, chicken wings and asparagus. We had expected at least my meal be taken off or my friends pork. We asked to talk to the owner who was upstairs attending to the wedding. He was very dismissive when we explained how unhappy we were and didn't offer any other discounts or even a gift card. He seemed annoyed and hurried back upstairs. We promptly paid and tipped our waitress 20 percent as she was great and running her tail off. I understand restaurants are very understaffed right now and struggling, however , the service and attitude here was extremely unacceptable. We understand there was a wedding reserved upstairs, but we also had a reservation made well in advance. I'm a mom of two and don't get out often and this was a very bad experience for me and my friends / family. You only get one chance at a first impression The folks who own Union Post did an incredible job of transforming an old (and popular) mom & pop country pub into a modern, sleekly designed space that can accommodate more guests in comfort than the old place - I give them that assessment freely and I don't think anyone who knew the old place would disagree. I knew I'd wait a few months before trying it out. I grew up in the restaurant business in a resort area and knew how hard it is to launch a restaurant and get everything working well - and never go to a newly opened restaurant. Union Post was popular the moment it opened and its parking lots were full all during the first winter season (which pulled from visitors to the local ski hill). Towards the end of the ski season, I went to grab a quick bite at the local diner (which is also under new management), but they were closing early that day, so I went down the road and figured I'd try Union Post for a brew and a burger. It was very crowded, but I was able to get a seat at the bar and started by ordering a draft stout. It wasn't my regular brew, but it was tasty and went down easy and while waiting for my burger (which does not come with fries - that's extra), I had another stout. There was a couple sitting close to me at the bar and I struck up a conversation with them and we chatted quite a bit and noticed that they had ordered a fancy looking Old Fashioned, which they highly recommended, so I ordered one as my food arrived. The Old Fashioned was very good. The burger was nothing special - not any different from a diner burger, (I think the bun may have been stale, as it crumbled in my hands), but that's what I had been looking for initially, so a little disappointing, but I ate it all the same. The French fries were also just ok. Now imagine the scene, the place is packed, lots of vibrant chatter and all the while, I was also chatting with my new friends at the bar. I felt like staying but three drinks is enough for me and I had other things to do, so I got the check, left the tip and walked out - and this is the part that I have to say "I should have known better" ... with tip, my meal came to $105! Just now I went to their website and added up what they list as prices and my bill (before tax and tip) should have been $50. Unfortunately I didn't discover this until after I left. The second time I went there, I went with my wife. She had the chicken and was quite complimentary on how tasty it was. But, when we got the check, we saw a surprise charge of $4 for "rocks". Now, I don't know where these guys come from, but that's just plain-old bullshit and a way to pack the check. We questioned it and the waitress brought over the 'manager' to explain it; that when you order a drink with ice in it, they give you an extra heavy pour - what?! So if I'll be driving, I know that I can have two drinks with dinner, and be ok, but because of the 'heavy pour', two drinks have three drinks worth of alcohol in it - which may put me over the limit and might get me a dwi - and that's when the law suits would commence. DO NOT over serve me - especially when you don't tell me you're doing it! But the problem, was my wife ordered an Aperol spritz - no ice in there. This time we were in a hurry - the 'manager' told us, he'd take off the charge, but frankly after being there as long as we had been and needed to get on the road, we didn't think waiting around more for a $4 give back was worth it. The third time we went, we sat out on the deck, I tried the chicken this time and it was indeed juicy and good. The whipped ricotta app was also good. But once again, we got whacked with an extra charge - this time a 'seltzer' charge - wtf?! Again it was applied to a $14 drink, (again, an Aprerol spritz-no seltzer in it), why? I still don't get it - if you need to charge $16 for your drinks, then charge $16 for a drink and STOP with the unnecessary BULLSHIT up charges - your food and drink are already too high for what you serve - especially for the area you're located in. At the time, I thought, well, they're pulling a fast one on all the out of town visitors, but what are they going to do when the lifts stop for the season? Locals can't afford those kinds of prices - and for what? At best your food is competent, not great and too often it takes way too long to get out of the kitchen. Here's what some of my friends have told us about the place; "we were sitting by the fire on the deck and asked to be served dinner there (there are multiple dinner tables with service on the deck), they accommodated us, but when we got the check, there was an additional $100 fee tacked on without any warning". We are told by 8 that the entree is coming right out. 8:15 we are told it's taking so long because there's a party upstairs. 8:30 rolls by and they say they are trying to plate everything together so nothing comes out at different times. 8:45 rolls around and we are told again that the food is making its way out. 9 rolls by and no food still. 9:15 rolls by we had to flag down a manager (who ended up just being the host) to tell us our food is coming right out she just checked the ticket. 9:30 rolls by and still no food. Half of the table is pissed the other half just wants to leave, no one really offered more water for us, food while we wait, oh wait, at 9:30 they said they would bring out some food for us...within 1 min they brought out wings and a plate of asparagus to our table for us to enjoy together...come to find out that was one of the girls meals she ordered and one of the waitstaff brought it out as if she was doing us a favor. By 9:45 food is SLOWLY coming out and not together slowly one by one. The food is overpriced for the quality and experience you are looking for. We sat next to the POS where we could hear the lovely waitstaff complain about how long it's taking for their food to go out. When it was nicely brought to the waitstaffs attention, the managers attention (the 5 different ones that apparently worked there but had no real status involved by coming over and each time it was someone knew) gave the excuse of, a cool just quit, we just hired a new cook, we have a wedding upstairs, we just changed menus.... To be honest, I don't care and I didn't care then, 3 hours waiting on food and no communication, nothing is absurd and then to have us pay practically full price for everything when everything wasn't cooked to the way it should have been, the wait, the everything about it. I wouldn't ever go back to that place. The lack of sympathy and empathy for us and no apology really whatsoever other than excuses is not worth what was paid for. We spent a lot of money there and it's sad we had to go through that very poor experience. Update: This was rectified by the company and dealt with in the proper manner. read more

I will not be back here again. My first time here for dinner was around the time they opened, the dinner took forever and the service was terrible, I chalked it up to working out the kinks. Decided to give union and post another try about a year later. I made a reservation 3 weeks earlier because it is hard to get reservations in the windham/hunter area. They called me the day before the reservation on a Friday night to cancel because they "had rented out the whole restaurant for a last minute private event". I have never heard of a restaurant doing this last minute and cancelling all of their prime time reservations. No respect for the customer when they told me either - I will not be back. read more

The restaurant has great potential but fell short big time. Reservation was made for 7pm .... At least 3 weeks in advance too because we had a big party of 11, waitstaff was wonderful and definitely did her best so this is not about that. Drinks were brought within 10-15 mins of being orders as all was appetizers about 45 mins after ordering. Then we waited.... And waited and waited for about 2 and a half hours .... We were told the food was coming and they had an event going on causing the delay. And we waited more and more. They brought out a plate of wings and a plate of asparagus with maybe 6 pieces on it to help feed us while waiting for our meals ... drinks were given / comped but at that point everyone was over it and the drinks were a waste ...It was close to 10 pm by the time everyone at the table finally got food. A few plates were undercooked and unable to be eaten. Other dishes were good, flavorful but over all experience there was a 1. As I said great potential but ultimately fell on management for not taking ownership and not offering to make it right. We were given excuses like "sorry but ... they event upstairs was more important" hoping the fix that for future guests dining in. read more
