Union Station provided everything we wanted in a wedding venue and then some! We were looking for a unique venue that had great architectural character, which we found here. Included with the package we selected were our floral centerpieces and our wedding cake, which made our planning even easier. Guests continue to comment on how beautiful the space was and how much they enjoyed the food (also provided by Union Station). We would whole-heartedly recommend this venue.

We got married in Amherst a couple days ago. We decided to have our wedding at the Inn on Boltwood so we could have accommodations the night of/on site. However, we wanted to venture out for the rehearsal dinner. We looked around extensively in the Amherst/Northampton area and eventually decided on the Union Station for our rehearsal dinner. This was hands down one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. First, Neil, the Event Director, was SO responsive even though we were only hosting our rehearsal dinner with them. We ended up selecting the premium plated dinner for approximately 30 guests. The Union Station does not currently have fee to rent their space for the dinners, which made it far more affordable than the competition. The price was right, and the food quality was phenomenal. The Union Station food lived up to all the reviews. We also did not want to do a full open bar, but Neil gave us other options that allowed us to host some of the bar tab (we had 2 bottles of wine per table). For appetizers, we had the cheese/veggie/fruit platter (guests raved about the quality of the fruit). We had passed apps of bacon wrapped dates with manchego cheese, cauliflower risotto balls, and steak on a crostini. Each app, recommended by Neil, were AMAZING. We chose to have the salmon and beef tenderloin for the main courses, as well as the pesto ravioli as our vegetarian option. I had the salmon and it was PERFECT. As a side, we chose the caramelized potato gratin and broccolini. The beef tenderloin was so perfect and cooked just right. Everyone LOVED their meals, especially us. We finished with the seasonal cheesecake (strawberry topped). Throughout our wedding and honeymoon, we kept talking about how much we loved the food at Union Station. Lastly, the room was decorated so perfectly and the staff were SUPER accommodating and took such good care of our guests. I would go out of my way to host an event here again just to eat the food.

He decorated the interior and exterior with colorful saris and provided other valuable input to help us customize our wedding to our liking. I would describe his food as a modern taste of Asian flavors. The food was so delicious, I wish I had leftovers to bring home. The night of the wedding, Peng Yew made the catering portion of the wedding worry-free, and we really appreciated it. You're being pulled in every direction during the wedding night, but not having to worry about one more thing was a major relief. I would highly recommend Peng Yew to anyone looking for a catering service. He can customize your event to your liking.

We had 75 guests and wanted to talk to them and mingle. Pengyew helped us plan the perfect menu. The guests raved about the food and wrote to us weeks afterward about how good it was. One guest even asked him for a sauce recipe! Pengyew was a delight to work with. When you're planning a party, You want someone else to really own their part so that you don't have to worry. I didn't worry one bit. He's funny, yet professional. And the bottom line is that he can wow guests! We had passed hors d'oeuvres: shrimp on cucumber, corncakes, tuna, scallops and more. The flavors were dynamite and the presentation was exquisite. If I lived closer, I'd have him do our holiday party. He won me over.

Indulgence by Natasha - Chef Natasha plating a dish

    Indulgence by Natasha

Pros: We chose Natasha for a small family party to celebrate our wedding this spring. We went with…read moreher mainly because she was the first/only chef to begin our conversation by asking us what WE had in mind and letting that be the foundation for building the menu. She seemed eager to help us realize our vision rather than impose someone else's onto us. There are also four other people on the IBN team: the sous chef, whose name I forget; the bartender, for whom the same is true (maybe Aaron or Erin), and two servers: Mason and Spencer. These folks did an AMAZING job and we were both so grateful for their kindness and professionalism on the day of the event. Finally, I liked what I ate! I was happy with my day-of meal. Cons: Natasha was incredibly rude to both me and my husband in the weeks leading up to the post-wedding party. I had only spoken to her twice before the party: once when I hired her and again in February. She'd said in February that we could have a third and final call two weeks before the event. When I emailed her three weeks before the event to schedule this final call, she sounded irritated and said we'd spoken "a few days ago" (we had not; I even asked some relatives in case someone else had, but no) and she wanted to "stick to the plan" of having a call at a date a time to which we had not agreed--- only *five* days before the party. My husband reminded her that she'd said we could talk two weeks before and she eventually, reluctantly scheduled a call with us. When we call at the date and time she told us to, she does not pick up; instead, she texts us that she's in the middle of an event. All of these things are perfectly normal, human mistakes. We all get clients confused and talk to one as though they are another (like the "a few days ago" thing). We all overbook ourselves every once in a while and are unavailable after telling someone we would be. A professional would have simply apologized; instead, after I used *one sentence* of an email to express my disappointment about the missed call--- because my husband had taken off work to be available for it, so lost money for no reason--she used this as an excuse to threaten not to show up. Said she needed us to "confirm" in light of my "tone." In light of this, I decided not to speak to this person anymore unless absolutely necessary (i.e. at the party, for the sake of our guests). My husband took over talking to her, at which point we had a fun little role-reversal in which he was now the one reporting to me on a regular basis how rude Natasha was being to him. So at least I know it wasn't personal! Conclusion: If you just need to place a big food order and don't need to talk to the chef again after that, you can go with IBN and you'll probably be fine. If, however, you are planning an event of great importance to you--or just don't want to risk being treated like a burden for wanting to speak more than once with someone you're employing-- maybe look elsewhere.

Everything she prepared was super delicious and everyone loved it. She was also really easy going and a pleasure to be around. The lead up to our event day was super organized, she was very responsive and easy to work with and even had to deal with our last minute change of location and an oven that was barely working (which she didn't let impact the menu or quality of the food at all!). Highly recommend and we'll certainly be calling her again the next time we're in the area.
