First timer at the Union Straw! Made early reservations but preferred to sit at the bar, which wasn't crowded at 6:45pm. Folks really started coming in around 8 pm. Lindsay was an amazing bartender--lots of attention to detail. I wasn't planning on imbibing but I couldn't resist an espresso martini I'd been watching her make on repeat. There were five or six other specialty cocktails that looked great too. We ate small plates (the tenders & cauliflower are great) and I had a yummy flatbread and he had the sirloin. The World Cup was playing on all TVs, so it's a great spot to catch a game. Staff is friendly and I liked the overall vibe, even for a younger crowd! read more

Really good & consistent. A bit on the pricier side but I'm willing to spend more if im guaranteed good food so im not complaining. Their honey buffalo wings are great. You get about 5 wings for 17$ which is a stretch but again, they're so yummy and cooked perfectly that I buy them again and again. Want wings? Good wings? Try them. The fries aren't anything to rave about but they're not bad. Again, small portion for the price but you can't wings without fries and unfortunately they come separate. I've also had the tenders, they're fine. Not my favorite. The wings are the star here. Haven't tried anything else. Wish the menu was bigger. I've only ever gotten them doordashed btw. Wow! Union Straw in Taunton was amazing from start to finish! We started off with house chips and Lindsay's specialty mocktail. Her suggesting both of these was perfection and it only seemed to get better as the meal went on. We then had whipped goat cheese and the smoked maple flatbread which were both amazing. We then shared the seasonal turkey burger and got a Halloween espresso martini flight and another bartenders specialty Halloween cocktail. What a meal! Everything was great! We sat at the bar where Lindsay made sure we had everything and more! It was a packed house and we were always taken care of. All of the other guests were as well---and it was quite the wonderful crowd of people which says wonders about a place. This restaurant is simple, but in the best way possible. They don't go over the top with decor, but rather kept it simple, elegant and inviting. I really loved the look. What a great experience! I'll be back for sure!! read more

Came here to celebrate my mom's birthday a bit ago - the fam and I ordered a variety of things, and they were all amazing! Got the tater tots and candied pork belly for an app. And then we got different meals - Sesame Soy Shrimp Tacos, Fig and Prosciutto Burger, and Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese. Service was great (super attentive), restaurant was very clean inside - overall great experience, can't wait to come back and tackle more of the menu! My husband wanted a good thick burger- and we found it here. I got the chicken tenders, homemade chicken and very good. They ran out of bacon for the burger so that was a big sad but he said it was amazing and cooked perfectly. I didn't care for the dry rub I initially had and the bartender was quick to swap them for plain ones. He said it was one of the best spicy bloody Mary's he ever had, and that says something!! We had a really nice lunch here and just happened into the place as we were down for a soccer tournament. This was an awesome break. The food was really good and fresh, and the staff was awesome. If we are in the area again, we will definitely be stopping in again. read more

Greeted warmly upon arrival. It was much smaller than I expected but not overcrowded. Our waitress was very personable but wasn't attentive at all. The food was really good. The pork belly appetizer was delicious even though mine didn't come hung up. The whipped goat was cheesy and the bread toasted perfectly. My burger was overcooked but tasty, the sweet potato fries were good, the tater tots were undercooked, under seasoned and blah, I would not recommend getting them. read more

This place was very nicely renovated from an old brick building. It's nice and clean inside and the waitstaff was very friendly. We ordered the Bolo Dip to start which is bolognese with toasted bread. It was very good and had a lot of flavor. I ordered the turkey burger, which I was a little disappointed in. The patty itself is heavily seasoned and the remaining toppings (bacon onion jam, maple Dijon aioli, apples, swiss) really lacked flavor so the patty was the only flavor of the sandwich. I would recommend cheddar cheese and maybe some salt in the bacon onion jam. My friend really enjoyed her chicken sandwich on ciabatta bread that she didn't want to share with her hubby (he got the grilled regular version of Kama Jama). read more

This is a smaller version of their restaurant in Foxboro, but it still has the same vibe. We found it very comfortable and welcoming. We made a reservation and were seated immediately. Our male server was personable, friendly and accommodating. Had to try the home made chips and dip, which were seasoned beautifully and cooked to be crispy. I ordered the chicken and waffles, which were excellent. The combination of tangy and sweet was so good! My friend had the pork frites, which was reported to be tender and very tasty. The only thing was, and it was 100% MY FAULT, was that I ordered the blood orange Margarita (that was infused with jalapeño pepper). It was good but a bit too spicy for me! That's what I get for trying to be adventurous! Overall, it was a great experience - the staff and the food were excellent. This is exactly what Taunton needs - a nice restaurant that you can bring your family to, that is proven to be successful and not some fly by night place. I look forward to trying their brunch! (Don't let my photos fool you, it was 4:00 and there was a steady stream of people. I made a reservation. Parking is very easy - a lot right across the street! We stopped by Union Straw tonight without a reservation. The hostess offered to seat us if we could be done in 30 minutes. (No, thanks) We opted to sit at the counter across from the bar. After 12 minutes with no acknowledgment from the bartender, we decided to leave. They didn't even give us a menu to review while we waited. I informed the hostess why we were leaving. We visited at an off hour, so we were the only table for a little while. So it seemed strange that our app (crab Rangoon flatbread) didn't come until after our meals. We brought most of the flatbread home. Husband loved it, I didn't try it since I was already into my Kama Jama chicken sandwich. Delicious! He also loved his truffle burger. Tater tots done perfectly. Try the strawberry lemonade mocktail ... I've been dreaming about it ever since. The food is probably the most unique in the whole area. The chicken and waffles with the hot honey is to die for. We also had a pork belly hanging off a hook that was totally delicious. We were here a few weeks ago for the first time. We had a nice experience and and planned to put this restaurant on our regular rotation. Unfortunately, last night we had a 7:15 reservation. The entry was very crowded and we were told there were three other reservations waiting to be seated ahead of us! Needless to say we left, and will not return. If you can't honor your reservations within a few minutes you have no business taking reservations. This was not just a short wait, there were THREE parties with reservations still waiting ahead of us. That is not acceptable! read more

This is what I emailed Union Straw today: I wanted to start by saying that I am a frequent customer to your Foxboro location and it has always been a great experience with excellent food and drinks. We decided to give your Taunton location a try last night and our experience was the complete opposite of Foxboro. The waiter was attentive at the beginning and took our drink orders and appetizer orders. Our first round of drinks and appetizers came out in a timely manner, and we're also quite good. After this, it was downhill. Our dinner orders were placed as soon as our appetizers got to the table. We proceeded to wait more than a half an hour for our for dinners and had to flag down our waiter to order a second round of drinks. When we asked for our second round he responded with " can you wait to order your drinks ? The bar is backed up with 5 tickets and if you wait your drinks will taste better anyways". We have never heard of waitstaff saying anything like this at any restaurant..... I don't think anywhere has a customer been asked to wait to order. When the food finally came out after more than 30 min wait and a request to wait to order more drinks, the portions were small, the turkey tips were "gummy", the burger were sub par as well as the salmon. We didn't even finish our meals because the quality was so poor. I also spent the night with stomach issues at the toilet all night. I am not sure if your Taunton location is understaffed or under trained, but it was a very poor experience. We will not be returning to your Taunton location. Perhaps the staff at Foxboro can bring the Taunton staff up the their standards. read more

Great addition to downtown! I love craft beer and that they have a dedicated Trillium tap, but their drink menu is always so good too. Great burgers and sandwiches. I love that I can get different options for sides (different dressed fries, tater tots, housemade chips) with my entree. Everything I've ever had here is delicious. They always have a few specialty beers on tap (like Trillium and Singlecut) and the menu changes up a bit but is always delicious. We particularly have loved the chips and dip for an app or the nachos. Burgers and handhelds are always great too. The service is always responsive and friendly. I'm very disappointed. This was our second visit. "Parker" our server was very good. And the food was good. BUT- My grandson wanted the Mac and Cheese with lobster. We said fine but never asked the price for the lobster. It was listed as MKT. on the menu. When the bill came it was $18. for Mac and Cheese- no problem there- the charge for the lobster was an ADDITIONAL $31!!! OUTRAGEOUS!! When I questioned Parker he said that there was 4 ounces of "premium" lobster meat. So the lobster Mac and Cheese was $49. By far the most expensive thing on the menu. When Union Straw took over an existing restaurant location I was skeptical. The prior owners kept the music so loud I couldn't speak with my dinner companions and often had to shout my order to the wait staff. Union Straw is so different - the atmosphere is much quieter and has Become a favorite spot to catch up with friends! I've tried many things on the menu and have never had a bad meal. My friends and I are pretty particular about our cocktails, and Alex especially understands and always delivers.
