One of my favorite go-to places! The staff & patrons are what make it amazing I feel at home, safe, and always have a great meal. Reminds me of Cheers! If there's anything ever wrong with my food, the staff is always quick to fix it. Their bar pizza is my absolute favorite. Laced edges, well done. I love it with pepperoni & garlic, but all of the pizzas I see go out look great. They also have a cauliflower crust. I tried it from a friend's pizza one day & loved it! It tastes nothing like cauliflower - it's like a really good, flavorful thin crust pizza. Local bar with a hometown feel. They have high tops, regular tables & a pretty decent sized bar. Pizza special was $14.99: mushrooms and pepperoni with hot honey. It's a bar Pizza , btw. The other option for bar Pizza (pie?) in Taunton is Smitty's, but they are closed on Tuesdays. The service was good at the bar. People seemed quite friendly. Though a Lady (customer) decided to tell everyone her thoughts on Trump when Fox News covered the Iowa caucus. She said she went as a deplorable for Halloween and I wondered to myself: "did you need a costume?" Anyway, the pizza came out nice and hot. It was tasty. 4 slices, everybody knows the rules. We were going to try and last till dinner but around 2 my buddy was starving so we headed out south toward Taunton. We wanted to try a new place and after a quick search settled on Grove Street Tavern in Taunton. Its a straight shot down Bay Rd or 138. I know the neighborhood a bit and while the area is dated, it's not bad at all. This is a city like Brockton with multifamily homes bunched together but it's totally safe, it's not like straight downtown. The restaurant is ground floor and seems like there are residents on the second floor. Guess you get used to the noise and the aromas. First, before I offer up a couple of negatives let me say that we were the only people there for a while which made me pause but it was beautiful Saturday summer afternoon and its now 3 and the deadest of times. We wanted to try a few things that stand as benchmarks so first in was a Hamburg pizza which came out beautifully cooked with a firm and buttery crisp underside and the crust was perfect. I think it needs a bit more sauciness but that's me. It still qualified as an A rated bar pizza and at 13 bucks no problem. My buddy brought one home a 30-minute drive and he said it didn't travel that well.. OH Well. Wings were next and this was disappointing. I understand that food costs more now, everything does but 4 drums and 4 flats are overpriced at 13 bucks c'mon man. And they were average, very nice BBQ sauce for sure, with a bit of crisp on the ends for a mild mow but definitely not a wow. I'm sorry as I don't want to be a jerk and seem like a cheap prick so I didn't ask but if I knew I was getting a whole wing (drum and flat) for $3.50 I would pass. Third up was the main meal which we split. Steak tips cooked medium. Real nice juicy tips estimated at a pound's worth for 23 bucks. About right. We both like good mashed and got a double. We both loved them, a cross between scalloped and as they got cooler potato salad sans mayo. Excellent and unique. A bit of a bummer in that the nice gal server asked if we wanted mushroom and peppers with the plate. I said sure on the side, and we got a full side portion in a bowl and were charged 4 bucks. My bad I should have asked if there was a charge or she should have told me, that's how tabs get jacked. I just figured it was something that comes in a little cup like coleslaw or something. His coke was $4 but refillable. I suggest $2.85 and $1 for refill if wanted. I got water and after a taste of Taunton's finest muni, I squeezed the lemon hard. By the way the burgers are probably bomb but a pass at 15 just not going there without reassurance that they are in fact bomb. Straight out homey type neighborhood joint with seemingly hundreds of cop patches adorning the walls, and a very cool poster collage of concert tickets, Dead and Allman heavy from the late 90's to early 2000's including many shows that I too went to as well. In summation I would come back for pizza and if it were a bit later beer. With tip we were at 94 bucks - 2 pizzas, order wings, the tips with the grilled veg bowl and a coke. A bit much and that seems to be a prevalent sentiment. Just got to know what you're doing here and you'll do fine. read more

Oddly Expensive Don't let the exterior or location fool you. The interior is cute- nice tables set up and bar. Now the food- was really good. Everything came out hot and fresh- hand made chicken tenders and sandwich - the soup was better than Portuguese restaurants in the area and the chili was perfect with homemade nacho chips. Now the Con, the prices. 15 dollar burgers, 5 dollar cups of soup, small portions, expensive drinks. For the shady neighborhood, it just seems a bit overpriced. Still worth a try. Thanks read more

Oh yeah, I recommend the Grove Street Tavern. The two bar pizzas we ordered were incredible. Came out of the oven piping hot. Talking about anticipation, eh? The steam coming off the pizza brought a cacophony of scents to my head. Ground chourice and red pepper. Nice crust that held up well to the toppings. My bud ordered a mushroom and green pepper pie. We reluctantly shared. The veggies and cheese combo with that crust was insane. The sauce was just enough for my liking. The beverage list was a hit when I saw one of my top brews, a Fiddlehead IPA brewed in Vermont. Ordered one up. I also tried a local brew, but this essay is not a beverage review, but i know what satisfies me. Can this joint get any better? Friendly and efficient hosts answering your questions, taking your orders, getting your drinks. Small business where the customer is both treated well and fed well. I know that I only had a pizza, but that is what I came here for. Maybe I'll try another menu item on my next visit, maybe not. Looks small from the parking lot but very qwell laid out inside. Clean and comfortable bar. Adequate space to move around. I suggest that you check it out for yourself. I might see you there because I will be back to GST. Addendum: As expected, I returned came 2 days later. This visit, i had them configure a sausage and green pepper pie. Marvelous. Does not effectively maintain Gluten Free allergy protocols consistently. Had three cauliflower crust pizzas there prior to last fall (2021-2022), third ​​caused a weekend of stomach upset due to apparent cross contamination- which was explained to not be an issue. After taking a year away, figured we'd try it again. After another half dozen good visits with allergy warnings upfront, this past weekend wanted a pie after surgery to help feel better. Wound up with another round of gastrointestinal agony. It's a shame, as their pizza is great. But it's not worth the risk to those with celiac who need gluten free *actually* gluten free, rather than just a fad.​​​ They can't provide what they promise, so we'll have to pass going forward. ​ read more

I came here during a mini snow storm and not a single person was here, which was fine with me. I ordered a drink and the bartender was very nice and talkative. I did end up ordering mozzarella sticks to eat there and wings to bring home. The mozzarella sticks weren't really good, they tasted like they were the frozen kind that you get from the grocery store, so not much to them at all and barely any cheese. Once I paid the bill, I went home and tried the wings and they were just average, which I was disappointed about, but to be honest I didn't expect much from the this place since in the city of Taunton this isn't a place that is much talked about at all. I think this is a great spot to pregame or just relax and have a beer without a ton of people being around you. read more

Good south coast bar pizza. Steak tips are consistently excellent albeit expensive at $33 with onions and peppers for a handful of meat. Service is good, very nice folks. Place is very warm with multiple ACs cranked. Mostly a bar with a few high tops and 2 tables. Hard to pin down the appeal but I do like their pizza. read more

This isn't a review about the place as much as it's a review of the people. My bartender at a club in Bridgewater was at several places on vaca recently. Heartbreakingly, his wife lost her Diamond. Didn't know where or when. Obviously, she was destroyed. After a Monday close, my guy calls and tells this lady about the loss. To her credit, she takes down the number and promises to look. Five minutes later, she calls back. The patrons FOUND THE ROCK! He ran over there, gave them a nice tip. GS is a nice pie, but more importantly, while pizza is life......we have to have a life to be about pizza. This place is about life. Btw, my guy approved the pizza as well. read more

This is the second time they are advertising grilled chicken breast and serving poor quality tenders. The first time was a few years ago and I decided to give them another try recently and again, talked to the waitress that confirmed it was chicken breast and not tenders as she also doesn't like the tender quality and the menu says breast...get the order and tenders! My whole meal was ruined. Had to drive the meal all the way back for a refund. Gross quality and inedible. Won't be giving them a third try. I've been many times and usually order the Fish n Chips to go.. Normally i would give this a 5 star rating but unfortunately, today's dinner wasn't so appealing. The fish, although tasty, it was a bit dry. It is usually moist and flaky, it was dry to the point where i needed to drink something often. The fries were a mix of older fries and newer fries. The newer fries were crisp and cooked perfectly, the older fries which were mixed in (and yes they were older due to the fact that they appeared to look like the McDonalds fries that were left over in the morning, kind of shriveled and curled) were hard to chew and a bit greasy. Stopped here for lunch between games at a basketball tournament based on positive Yelp reviews and we were pleasantly surprised by everything about this nice little local spot for food and drinks. I had a chicken parm sandwich with the hand-cut onion rings. Others had the grilled chicken with rice pilaf and curly fries, a hamburger and some chowder (white). Everything was fresh, tasty and made to order. The onion rings are the best I've ever had. We were very happy with everything. The food was exceptional by bar food standards and really good by any standard. The service was super friendly, warm and helpful. Out waitress was attentive but never rushed, just right. The prices were great, service excellent and the food was better than expected, even with 4 star reviews. This a a great place to grab a bite or have a beer with friends and family. Try it. My husband and I tried this place for the first time a few days ago. It has a friendly neighborhood tavern feel. The food was good for the most part. The mashed potatoes were dry, but the onion rings were out of this world! It's so hard to find really good onion rings and without a doubt these were great! The service was really good and the atmosphere pleasant. I must give a heads up though on something I've never seen before. When the bill came it had, of course, sales tax added but it also had a "meals tax" added on. Lastly, if you look close at the bill you will see that they give a discount if you pay in cash. read more

First time coming here and will be back! The location and exterior may seem sketchy, but a nice friendly staff and regulars await you inside. Started off with the gold fever tenders. Lightly breaded and definitely fresh. GREAT sauce. I got a BBQ chicken pizza which comes with onion and bacon. Ordered it crispy because I like a harder crust and was not disappointed. Most other bar pies or regular pizza places put some grilled chicken on top and drizzle with BBQ sauce, but this place puts shredded BBQ chicken UNDER the cheese and it's genius using that shredded chicken. It was spread throughout the entire pizza so I could actually taste BBQ chicken in each bite. Very good amount of crumbled bacon and red onion. Highly recommend if you like bbq chicken! My boyfriend ordered pepperoni, jalapeño and chorizo, crispy with burnt/laced edges. He really liked it but thinks the chorizo was a bit overpowering but I think that's a good thing. He usually does bacon so I'll chalk this up as just being too different for him. My only MINOR critique was that the cheese hardened quite a bit when it cooled, doesn't stay as soft as maybe Town Spa would but again, still only a tiny complaint. I prefer a blend with not as much mozzarella because it's a bit softer and flavorful but that will not keep me from coming back at all! read more

This is a perfect pub... Really good food, fair prices and friendly staff...portions are generous and chef is very accommodating. Bar style pizza is top notch and seafood is as good as anywhere right on the ocean. She was rude and insulted me about my weight after I placed an order to my face and I could hear her gossiping about me to other patrons.
