Union Tavern is a nice spot to drop in and grab a quick beer, drink or bite to eat. Free street parking can be found. Discover is an accepted form of payment. Seating structure is ideal for large groups. Large windows offer great natural light. TVs are mounted throughout to catch the most current televised sports game. A wide selection of local beers are on draft. Love establishments that support and promote local. The food menu is a bit more upscale than what typical bars offers. I always enjoy a diverse menu. My wife tried a Pineapple Rum cocktail for $7. I sipped on a glass of Desert Wind Cab for $8.50. My girlfriend and I shared the Soup and Salad Combo for $10. We chose the Smoked Albacore Melt as our sandwich and the House Salad as our salad. Our tuna melt had a mild smoke flavor, served on sourdough bread with melted Swiss cheese. A tasty flavorful sandwich. Our salad had fresh spring greens, carrots, cucumbers, marinated tomatoes, radishes and croutons. We enjoyed every bite of our fresh colorful salad. Stopped for lunch. I ordered the Club sandwich with baked beans. The sandwich was delicious! The buttery toasted bread, ham, turkey and bacon. The beans had a little kick which made them a good accompaniment. My husband had the Irish Dip with the Seafood Chowder. He liked the sandwich although it didn't look like a lot of meat inside. Enjoyed drinks with friends at Union Tavern last night. I think it was my 3rd visit, and my husband is a regular patron with his coworkers. Always a solid choice for drinks with friends, the Tavern has somewhat recently uped their food game to include more options. I'll definitely check out a gourmet hot dog next time I'm there. Their soup of the day sounded amazing, and the food other patrons received looked delectable. We had no idea they expanded their food menu, and we were actually disappointed that we ate dinner elsewhere before joining our friends. The beers are cold and the staff are quick and professional. Great space for a group get together. Earlier in the evening, it's a nice spot for a casual date night, too! It can get a bit loud as the night wears on. Two critiques for Union Tavern: 1. Having the chalkboard as the sole beer list is a huge pain in the behind. The chalkboard had a glare last night, making it very difficult to read. I drive from Everett just for the Tuna Melt. Love this place I wish I had one down the street from me.

It appeared to a happening local place. While we were deciding where to eat, my sister and her daughter walked in to use the restrooms. The man with the beard having a few drinks apparently the owner didn't allow the to us the restroom unless they were eating there., so they walked across the street. We decided to have lunch, my niece ordered a chicken salad, 30 minutes later the waitress came back and advised us that they were out of chicken. We ordered a BLT , but couldn't have it cause thet were out of bacon. So we ordered a sandwich. We had to catch a ferry and it took us over an hour to get our food. 2 stars cause the food was good, but very poor service and a rude owner. read more

Came in around 2 on a Monday and for some reason it was pretty packed. We waited over 1 1/2 hours for food. We were there close to 2 hours. We ended up just getting it boxed and left. I get they're probably under staffed. I get it's hard with covid. But just the waiting and waiting and waiting. Food was leaving the kitchen once every 10 minutes. It would have been nice to for the server to give us a heads up on how long it would take when we ordered, or that the kitchens backed up, or that they're understaffed, or something. We just kept hearing "food should be up any minute now" for over 30 minutes. I've never had such slow service. Glad we have a new bar in town! And with a great selection of beer, to boot (that Left Hand Milk Stout is tasty tasty tasty). I hope they get the seating scenario fixed, because it seems like there is a lot of wasted space. Big areas that seat 5+ people but only 2 are seated there (for a long time I might add) makes it less than ideal. SEATING...it's important. The first night I came, it was virtually empty and seating was not an issue. I had the Reuben sandwich that was ok-a bit dry, but I got extra mustard and called it good. The waitress that night was super informative and had a lot of info on the beers. Also let us sample quite a few. The bartender/waitress on my second visit, less friendly. Looked a tad annoyed, if I'm honest. But hey, we all have bad nights. I'll definitely be coming back for that Milk Stout and I hope the kitchen service tightens up a bit over time. I walked in the door and was told to sit anywhere. So we sat right outside the front door. Waited 5 to 10 minutes for service then walked to the bar to get a beer. When I got there the bartender said someone would be out to help us and wouldn't serve us a beer. So we went back to our seats waited another 5 to 10 minutes and then left. What a crappy place. Possibly the worst service I've experienced in quite sometime. The staff actually acted like the customers were a bother. The food was not bad, but nothing I would rush back for. The cook was heavy handed on the salt. Plenty of rotating beers and ciders. Always something new and exciting. Trivia on Mondays is awesome. I may or may not be biased because we keep winning. If you are visiting Anacortes, Union Tavern is a much stop spot. Their beer menu also features some of the best PNW breweries and has a variety of choices. The staff is also friendly and super attentive. The menu is very solid. Some of my favorites include the Sesame Ginger Salad with Smoked Salmon, the Tuna Melt, and the Deluxe Grilled Cheese. In addition to a solid menu, they always have a creative daily special. They also have a lot of fun social events include weekly trivia and brewer's nights. I love Union and am usually here at least twice a week. read more
