Raymond, a young employee, has a stinky attitude and is always very unpleasant and unfriendly toward me (why remains to be known). I told him to plz pump midgrade, and he proceeded to put in regular both times- The first time, he made the argument that midgrade only is regular and plus mixed- hence, he saw no need to heed my instructions that midgrade is what is good for my Toyota Forerunners engine. The second time he did this and chose not to listen to my fuel grade specification, we got into it, and the cops were called to dispute whether or not he took money from me over his stupid mistake. The cop went to the station and spoke with him, and it was clarified that due to his mistake of again not heeding my fuel grade specification- and switching over to plus partway through the transaction- the meter read 16.64 and did not reflect the 20 Dollar bill I had given him. Because I got upset over the situation, I am now apparently forbidden by him to return to that particular business. I will not rest until the manager knows about his rude and disrespectful behavior toward me, which he seems to only direct specifically at me, although this is hard to say for certain. I'm an Arcata local and have children, and I will personally make sure the manager - Roger or Earl or whoever manages that place knows what an asshole he is to certain customers. AVOID THIS STATION at all costs. I just left the station at roughly 9:01PM on 12/11/12. The sign on the station said "open" when I drove up to start filling. I put my credit card in the pump, and it authorized my card without asking for a zip code (a violation of federal laws). I thought this was a bit odd, because I've used this station many times before, and although I'm usually treated like dirt I've never had a problem with the equipment. So I start to pump my gas, and it only lets me put in $75. It takes at least $100 with gas prices what they are to fill my tank, and I like to make a practice of always filling up to the brim when I go to a station. Guess not this time. Then, the machine asks if I want a receipt. I push "yes" as hard as I can, and I get no response. Eventually, no matter how hard I pressed, the machine timed-out and I lost my option to get a receipt. I really wanted one, because the machine was already acting strangely, so I went to the attendant inside to ask for one. This is where it actually gets bad. This young woman (who was wearing a hat, had brown hair, I think, and would not tell me her name) was inside, and she had turned off the "open" sign. Well, it was maybe 2 minutes past closing, and I had just watched her turn the light out, so I lightly tapped on the door. This young woman rolls her eyes at me, and then opens the door while angrily asking me "WHAT DO YOU WANT???" I explained what had happened, and politely asked the young lady if I could have a receipt printed. She told me that she could not do this, because she had already turned off her register. So, I politely informed her that I really needed a receipt, because I'm on a business trip and am required by contract to get one. She started shouting at me! She insisted that I had gone to a CLOSED gas station, and that I had no right to expect any kind of service from her. No amount of protesting that she had closed while I was actually pumping my gas made any difference to her. So, I informed her that it is a violation of federal law for a business to accept a credit card transaction and refuse a receipt. Now the weird part: she tells me that the keypads don't actually work on the pumps anymore, and that they circumvented the zip code verification in the credit card processing system to allow cards to be used without verification. She also stated that the machine automatically ran all charges as credit, again because the keypads don't work, even though the machines are clearly labeled as accepting debit cards. This is why I couldn't print a receipt, because the "yes" button wont register if the keypad is broken. So I ask again for her to just TURN THE KEY in her register and print me a receipt, as required by federal law. She refused, and began to call me a slew of horrific names and curse words that I dare not repeat here (especially since I don't know if I can curse in a review here). She told me to eff off! I explained to her that I would be calling her boss in the morning, and report their credit card compliance violations to both Visa and my bank. I would not do this had I been treated like even the lowliest of human beings. Instead, I was shouted at and disrespected, right from word one, for no reason at all. That young lady should lose her job, so that she understands how hard it is to get one in this day and age, and that you can't just treat paying customers like garbage. read more

They would not let me buy or borrow a gas can, even when I offered to let them hold my driver's license and credit card. Terrible customer service!!! read more

It's a full-service gas station with the option to pump your own gas. Little slow on service but I'm glad I don't have to get out in the rain. read more
