They might be knowledgeable in their skills; however, respect, etiquette, boundary and privacy for the patients must be improved tremendously. I have seen Dr. Chen for acupuncture treatment since February. So far, I have had no doubts about her practice in acupuncture and cupping skills, although I have not seen any improvements. Last Saturday, I went to see Dr. Chen for my acupuncture treatment. After She completed the acupuncture and cupping treatments on me, she left the room with the door closed. I immediately got off the bed and was about to put on my bra. All of a sudden, I heard extremely light two knockings on the door; however, I was not sure if the knocking was from the door where I was in or the next room. While I was contemplating, a man opened the door. I was so freaked out and shocked. My immediate perception and reaction were that I had to cover my breasts and turned my body around. So that man, Dr. Chen's husband, could not see my whole upper body. He stood at the door for a few seconds, looking at me, then walked away and closed the door. I was very annoyed in the room. My question is "this is not a big clinic and all rooms are connected. How come the person assumes the light two knocks can be heard by any patient? At least, asking for permission like "is anyone inside" or "are you finished"? "May I come in" must be preceded by the knocks. And how did they assume that the patients can put on their clothes in a few seconds, especially after they have just waken from the acupuncture and cupping treatment?" They should allow patients sufficient time to recover from the acupuncture and cupping treatment and put on their clothes. After getting dressed, I went to the reception area and paid for my treatment. Dr. Chen apologized and explained to me, "my husband got the wrong message. I told him to clean the 2nd room, but he went to the 3rd room." Despite her apology, I still feel traumatized. I hope that this review makes them attach greatest importance to privacy, boundary, respect and etiquette for the patients. I've officially experienced Acupuncture for a total of three times in my life. This was the third and I hate to say it, but this guy's"s needles were way too big. I paid more money than I've paid an acupuncturist for the worst experience out of all three. My silly curiosity got the best of me and I thought maybe there was better out there, than the best. Uh, Duh, I guess the song "you don't know what you've got til it's gone" should be chiming in about now. Luckily, nothing is truly gone, the best acupuncturist is even closer to me than this guy and still in full operation! My experience at Unique Acupuncture Clinic is 5 stars. I'm currently recovering from a lower back pain since summer 2018 and it's Jan 2019. I'm very active and I like to work out and lift. I haven't been doing much of that because of the constant lingering pain. This clinic and Dr. Guo is great for sports therapy to. The beginning of the session Dr. Guo starts with acupuncture for 25 min, does a crazy massage, aligns/balance my neck and stretch nearby the area that's affected. My first appointment, I shared with him I was unable to sleep for 2 weeks. After my first visit and the next day, the pain was not all gone but I was able to sleep!!! Those two weeks was dreadful not able to sleep and I was starting a new job. Dr. Guo recommended that I see him a few times. If I feel that I'm getting better, my visit will decrease to every other week and once a month. If you're in pain, Dr. Guo is the doctor you want to see! The results are not instantly but Dr. Guo helps you get better and recovers. Whatever outstanding questions you ask, he'll take his time to answer because he cares about you and your health. So let me start by saying that I have a herniated disc in my lower back and it had come to a point where I couldn't walk anymore. I tried everything! Dr. Guo is very knowledgeable about Traditional Chinese medicine. Because of his background, he has the ability to use a wide range of methods, whatever is best for the patient. My problem is a herniated cervical disk which causes pain, numbness and sleep disorders. After consulting various Western medical doctors and getting physical therapy with little benefit, luckily I found Dr. Guo. After several acupuncture and tuina treatments, my energy level has increased and I am well on the way to recovery. Dr. Guo uses all types of needles for acupuncture treatments, not just the more common thin needles that are left in for a long time unattended. He also uses thicker needles that he may manipulate one at a time for only a few seconds. Different needles have very different effects so having the expertise and knowledge to use all types is important. The effect of the thicker needle is immediate and in my case a numbness on a part of my skull was gone right after removing the needle. So much better than surgery or hormonal treatments. A neighbor of mine had a spinal problem, causing her so much pain she was bedridden and had to be led into the office. Dr. Guo inserted a needle into her hand and she was able to walk out with much less pain. I highly recommend Dr. Guo for treating your health problems.
