    Wedding day- easy to reassemble!
    Sarah R.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Zahra and my experience with Unique Alterations. I get a little social anxiety and am always a nervous talker, but Zahra put me at ease right away and I looked forward to our sessions. I had her do two dresses- my wedding dress was three pieces that had to be altered individually, and my rehearsal dress was this $25 dress I had gotten years before but never wore because it needed to be shortened. Her work speaks for itself, but it was how she made me feel so comfortable that makes my 5 star review seem like it should be 10. When I picked up the dress for the final fitting, I was nervous about the separate top staying tucked under the belt, and Zahra took another few minutes right then to sew on little snaps that held everything in place perfectly. I felt so pretty, and even though I now live 45 minutes away she has my business forever!

Got my wedding dress altered here, and couldn't be happier with the results. Fair pricing, and such detail! Thank you a million times!

Zara is incredible! She took the time to alter my wedding dress just the way I wanted. She even helped me choose the best jewelry to go with it she is as sweet as she is talented! Definitely visit her if you're looking for a high quality job done.

Zara did a great job on my wedding dress. It was a little too big and had a train that would have been difficult to bustle in a way that looked good after the ceremony. She showed me a couple of options for the bustle and the train and made the bodice alterations. She completed the dress fairly quick and had me ready for my wedding. In addition, she made me feel comfortable and beautiful with her kind words and professionalism.

I used Zahra to alter my wedding dress - not much needed to be done - just the top taken in and a bustle added.

I will keep her in mind for future projects. Clearly she's running a great business because she's booked out for several months, so my advice is to ask for your quote at least 6 months in advance of when you need the item. Jessica is very transparent about pricing and timelines. User-friendly software clearly displays the total line-by-line, and the total aligns well with other similar quotes I received. Jessica charges fitting fees to compensate for her time so that you can cross alterations asks off your list and bring down your total if you're happy with initial or minor changes. She is budget-conscious and wants to give you the best result for the lowest price. Jessica has a philosophy that she doesn't make decisions about your alterations but rather equips you with information for you to decide what aligns with your priorities. Jessica seems conscious and supportive of all body types and levels of modesty, for example when she explained options for potential bust cup alterations. Jessica helped me understand the alterations industry more broadly, including common pitfalls and bustle types. She gave business-related tips like getting quotes in writing and understanding fitting fees/guarantees for exclusive work prior to going to a business. Her personal choice is to vet clients over the phone first to ensure a good fit prior to bringing your garment to her. Others may have you in for a fitting before quoting or exchange just over email. I learned so much from her over one phone call and loved her genuine communication style. I initially got her name from a local seamstress based on the type of garment I had. I'm not surprised Jessica has a great local reputation among peers in the Nashville area!

I mean... are seamstresses known for their bedside manner? No, they are known for their work. Kathy is of a particular personality (I happen to adore her but can completely understand how she would rub some people the wrong way). She knows what she's doing. She is talented. She gets the job done. I took my fully embellished (pearls, sequins, rhinestones, laid on delicate netting) dress to her after buying it off the rack so it was easily 6 sizes too big. I thought they would run away from a dress so complicated but she said no problem. Yes, I had to make multiple trips back to the shop - but isn't that what's expected? I would expect 3-5 visits, which is what I had to do. She is a tough cookie but my dress literally looked like it was made for my body, it fit absolutely perfectly. It was expensive, I'll admit. I expected it to be, again, let's manage our expectations here as these are designer bridal gowns guys, they are not easy. But just a fair warning, it was expensive.

After briefly explaining the situation, I was placed on hold and another employee came on the line. When I tried to clarify the timing constraints to determine if it was even possible before making the trip, I was interrupted mid sentence and told to just come in . Despite that interaction, I still decided to come in. I currently have mild cold symptoms, so as a healthcare worker I chose to wear a mask out of consideration for others. When I arrived, one employee asked to see the dress and began discussing it, but then abruptly stopped and asked if I was sick while covering her mouth and nose with her jacket. I answered honestly that I had a common cold. Another employee then came over, and the first employee began commenting about me being sick while speaking in another language. The second employee was polite and attempted to continue helping me, but by that point I no longer felt comfortable proceeding. I completely understand people wanting to protect themselves from illness, but the interaction felt unprofessional and unnecessarily rude, especially considering I was already taking precautions by wearing a mask. Fortunately, I was able to find another alterations business willing to work with my timeline that treated me professionally and actually appreciated that I wore a mask while sick. I would recommend others choose a business with a more respectful and professional approach to customer service.

As an everyday person, they made me feel welcomed just as much as they did for what I'd consider their upper echelon of clientele. This is a high-end alterations establishment, and when I needed to get a dress altered for my grandmother's funeral this weekend, they were willing to take on the job despite my being rejected by several other alteration establishments before, as it is wedding season and a lot of alteration places are weeks and even months into working with other people's garments for altering. I did pay dearly for it, but if something had to be fixed on the dress, they did so. I had to return after they turned it around in one day to get the initial dress completely finished, but still time to spare for this weekend. When you go to get alterations, you want to feel valued, welcomed and heard. I felt all of these things when I was here. They set a high bar for customer service. Jeff, the owner, mentioned working with the same seamstress for 38 years! That is wonderful. Jeff also does pet paintings and has various ties, libation recipe books, and other miscellaneous items for sale. I bought a libation recipe book for my husband, and he was really appreciative of it. I look forward to working with Jeff and Corey again on more alterations that need to be completed. You can't get better than here at Stitch-It Alterations.

I thought GREAT now I don't have to take the time to do it myself, even though I am able. Stopped in and a clerk greeted me with a blase (at best) attitude and I told him I just wanted to hem them to a specific inseam measurement and he became quite condescending and argumentative about that stating emphatically they would not be right and that he would not guarantee his work. I was taken aback by his rude and arrogant treatment of customers. Now, I know that hemming is little more than a time consuming task - it'll take me a couple of hours to do a superior job - but it's not difficult even if you do an invisible hem. So I left with my new slacks to hem at home since I CAN guarantee my own quality workmanship. Once I got in the car I remembered that the last time I had patronized that business was at least two decades ago when I ordered two custom mens business shirts for my husband as a Christmas present. They weren't inexpensive. But when they arrived they were very undersized and did not fit even though Stitch It staff had measured for the shirts in house. They acted then much like they acted today that they really wouldn't stand by the quality of their work. Glad I got a free reminder of what kind of business this is this time instead of having wasted money on un-wearable shirts. What a shame to be so miserable in your own skin that you have to go out of your way to make your customers feel uncomfortable and unappreciated.
