ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIC TREATMENT!! I have been going to Unique Alterations for more than 15 years for everything from jeans to formal wear and never had an issue, great work and kind family business. Something has greatly changed in this business owner; they LOST (threw away) a part of a bridesmaid dress for a wedding in 2 weeks. When I asked where it went they immediately told me I am a LIAR and that there was never a belt even though I had the owner tie it on and show me how to make it look better the day we pinned. He yelled in my face in front of other customers and when I called back the next day to see if they'd found it HE YELLED OVER THE PHONE not allowing me a word in edgewise before i could even tell him what the bride had asked, saying how I'm lying and he won't give me back the money for the dress so that I can buy a new one as per the brides request. REFUSED and said he had to pay for his car and his home. I'm sure as an est. businessman in Yorba Linda area he is doing just fine. Even in tears he continued to yell at me and tell me to prove it and would not stop talking AT me . It was horrific and harassing. I have never in my life been treated like this as a paying customer CLEARY DOESN'T need the business if he can talk to people like that. read more

This place is very close to me. While doing a basic hemming is reasonable and the cost is fair. Anything else you're paying extra and by extra I mean CRAZY COST and when you question the price you get absolutely no response to it. It's just ridiculous. I had stopped coming here because they messed up on my Burberry shirt.I took my shirt there to get it shortened when I pick it up it was done so poorly on the inside it was cut uneven and the stitching was terrible. I pointed out to Andrew that I was not happy with his work,I went back with the exact same shirt in deferent color and specifically told him to make sure that he dose the work him self and do it right .he promised he will ( big mistake I went on my part) well here I am with the exact same issue!! I was very upset and told him I'm done with them. Customer service ? all depends if it's Andrew that you dealing with or the RUDE wife of his!! She's very very RUDE and has no manners.doesn't say thank you doesn't say bye. Ones I was walking out after picking up my stuff and as I was leaving I said thank you . Beware Beware Beware !!!! This place is horrible the owner Andrew is horrible ! I brought in a blouse to have fixed and he did a horrible job first it was too tight and then I came in again and it was tooooo big so I made three stops my event was the next day I didn't know what to do :/ So he told me that he will rip the blouse again and give it to me to take to another tailor. How is it my fault that they didn't take the precise measurements ! I told him that I will pay for the service but to lower the price since it wasnt done right, and also since I had no choice the party was the next day and I had nothing to wear. He told me he never wants to see me again and that I'm a Muslim so don't come here anymore??? Where did race and religion come into this. As I was about to pay I told him I want the price to be lowered so he lost his temper and was running around the store after me and trying to grab me and my clothes ..that was scary . I'm sure if they look back into that days camera it will show guy scared me I thought I was going be abused! Hence, there was a witness there another male customer and saw everything And What happened. I even asked the other customer to please don't leave cause I was alone in the store and was frightened by him and his wife. The male customer stayed with me until I paid . I can't believe Andrew can steep so low to try to grab my clothes and even attacking me ! Never, never , never going again .This was to frightening for me ! The 2 star rating reflects what I currently think about this family owned/run tailoring and alteration shop. I've been going here for over 4 years and let me tell you about why I will search elsewhere. 2 words; Mother and Daughter. The Man (Husband of the family) has always been congenial and attentive to the task at hand and he would be the person taking measurements for what needed altering. As of late the high school aged Daughter and solemn looking Mother have been taking measurements and running the cash register more and more. These two are a pitiful pair with the shittiest attitude you could portray. For a business contingent on good customer service, these two are not who you want. I've even walked in once when the Mother and Daughter were having it out in front of all us customers...sigh. The bottom line? Work done isn't as quality as it used to be and they forget to ask you questions such as "Do you want the original hem put back on?" when hemming jeans. When getting jeans done that cost over $200 and you get a generic stich job, that question is not insignificant. Sorry guys - you need to reassess why you opened your shop in the first place. read more

This is a Jeckyl and Hyde place. The husband is very nice, the wife who runs the front, is moody and unfriendly. After many years of putting up with her, I decided NEVER to go back. TODAY IS A VERY SAD DAY... My family, myself and my boyfriend have been coming to Andrew for the past 7 years. He's always done a great job but recently, his work has been SLOPPY and not as precise as it used to be (I think it's because he doesn't do all the work like he used to -- his employees in the back do some of it but he always says he's the one doing everything). One instance that he's been sloppy was when my boyfriend had brought in his suit coat to replace a missing button on the left sleeve. He asked to replace the buttons on both sleeves to black so they may match. Simple enough -- match black buttons on both sleeves and they charged him $20 which is totally fine since he thought Andrew would do a good job. I picked it up and the buttons were gold. Andrew apologized and said he will change it to black for no charge. I picked it up the following week and the buttons were black, but now the sleeves were sewn shut which was not how it was when we left the coat with Andrew -- so if my boyfriend wanted to unbutton the sleeves, he wouldn't be able to. In a calm manner, I told Andrew that the sleeves were sewn shut when they should not have been. He got very upset with me and instantly began arguing that he did not sew the sleeves shut. I was talking to him in a calm manner and letting him know that the sleeves have never been sewn shut before we dropped it off with him and he was insistent on arguing with me saying that he did not do this and he is the only one that sews in the back. But this jacket has been in their possession and we've never gone to any other tailor other than Andrew so we know for a fact that he or one of his employees in the back had sewn it shut and he was just trying to cover it up. He then went on saying that he could not have done this because he only charges $6 for replacing buttons. I told him that he charged me $20 so he and his wife demanded that I show them the receipt. I showed them the receipt and it said $19.90 for button. Andrew then got quiet and said he would fix the sleeves but would charge me the full $30 to undue the sewn sleeve. I was shocked when he said he was going to charge me $30 to undo what they messed up on. I decided to not have him do the work and we will not go back there because of the LACK OF RESPECT THEY HAVE FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS. I was not trying to argue with Andrew or his wife (his wife is always rude). I only wanted to get the jacket fixed properly since it was their mistake but they insisted that I was a liar about the cost of the charge and the work that was done by them. Very sad to see what this tailor has become.. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. My mom bought her dress for my wedding and took it here to get it altered. My mom tried on the dress previously at the department store as well as in front of me, my sisters, cousins, and close extended family. Not once did we see any imperfections on the dress. My mom and sister went yesterday to get it hemmed. They chalked it, pinned it, manipulated the dress, and made her walk while wearing the dress to see if the length was good. Forward to today, got a message saying that there is a material issue with the dress and to come in. My mom and sisters came in and boy was the issue very noticeable and big! They claimed it was an imperfection of the dress and they had nothing to do with it. My question is how can they not notice the large 8 inch snag while taking initial measurements or even when performing the alteration and only noticing it when they were finished? And to top it off the wife (assumption) was rude, irrational, and all things negative...I bet she did it. read more

Was in the market for a new tailor since my cheap guy in Garden Grove made a pair of my pants comically too tight. Brought in a couple of shirts (tailored all over), a new suit jacket (brought in the sides), flannel (fixed a seam) and two ties (sewed label/tail strap thing back on). Was a little on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for. The owner is really friendly and even told me I could come back to have one of the shirt sleeves shortened for free if I decided on it (we couldn't decide whether I was just having a really asymmetrical day). I will not be doing business here. I had some alterations done and called to see if they were ready. She basically yelled at me asking how many pieces I had. She was as extremely rude. I went there to pick up and knew I had to say something. I almost mentioned it to her husband because he is so pleasant and nice but instead she came out to give me my clothes and rung me up so I confronted her about it. I told her she was rude and her excuse? Well I was just trying to get information. I told her that's not how you do it. And she said in her condescending voice oh sorry. Yea really meaningful. I wanted to go back and give it to her more but instead I'll just take my business else where. I've been coming here for about 5 years for all of my alterations. The owner Andrew is awesome and always does a great job. But the last time I brought a dress in to have the waist taken in, I had the owners wife do the measurements/alterations. She seemed to be irritated while helping me. Then I went back to pick up my dress, I tried it on and it fit very poorly and unevenly. I couldn't get the dressed fixed in time for my event so I had to borrow a dress from a friend. And my dress is still just sitting in my closet. In the past I've had great experiences with the owner (Andrew) being very friendly and great at alterations but his wife seems rude and doesn't care about the customer as much. For that, I give it 3 stars. I'm a little scared to take anything expensive there in the future. read more

I've come here for years to get my work uniform taken in. They do a decent job but when my mother came in with a dress to wear for my sisters wedding, they were rude and ruined it! The tag was still on the dress, so it was brand new. I helped my mom put the dress on and help her decide how short she wanted the dress to be. The guy helped and chalked the dress as well as pinned it. She brought her shoes that she is wearing for the wedding and walked around with it so that she feels comfortable with the length without tripping. The next day, we get a call that there is material damage. There was nothing wrong with the brand new dress! We go in and there is an 8 inch tear in the back middle of the dress. I would of and the owner would have noticed right away while measuring her. It's completely noticeable. Of course they said its the material of the dress and was our fault for bringing a damaged dress in. They danced around their story and his wife loved chiming in when she wasn't there when it happened. You can't even fix the dress because it's in the middle and they already altered. He admitted that it's their fault on not checking the material before altering but he still wouldn't own up that either his wife or his workers ruined my moms dress. He wouldn't even refund our money back for altering the dress before letting us know the damage. If I can give 0 stars I would. They are liars and not honest people. If he was honest, I would respect this place more because people do make mistakes and stuff does happen. The fact that he and his wife denied it and wouldn't help fix the situation at all blows my mind. He even said, take me to court I don't care. We were disgusted how they talked to us and for what they did to the dress. Never coming back here again. read more

I have been coming here for over a year. A client of mine referred me last year before my daughter's wedding to get some alterations done on my dress. They did a Beautiful job! My son in law had us custom order a suit online for my son. Somehow the measurements were really off and the pants cam back to small in the waist and they were extremely short in the legs. Since this was custom made and a very specific material and color, I thought we were screwed so to speak, as it was close to the wedding when we got the suit. I brought my son here with his suit and they did Absolute Miracles with what little room there was to work with! I was and am still so Impressed!!!! We won't go anywhere else for alterations again!!! I dropped off several pieces of clothing last week that were too big on my son from all the weight he has lost and a few things of my own. Today I'm picking up and dropping off more. Why buy a new wardrobe when I can have what I have altered to be like a new wardrobe. Most are practically new. We have simply lost weight, which is a good thing. I went in there because I needed a dress repaired in a short amount of time. I know the time factor is not an ideal situation but it was an emergency. The employees were not friendly. They showed me some different zippers but it was going to cost $38 which was way too much. After learning what the price I declined the service. They asked to check my bag to see if I took the zippers because the guy forgot he had taken the samples away. I can't comment on their actual work but I give it a thumbs down for service. read more
