I have to admit I was skeptical at first, because this company, Unique Appliance Repair was assigned by my Sears Home Warranty plan for a refrigerator repair. I had read other reviews and compared them to other companies I was "assigned" to and they seemed like my best bet. They also had the best ratings on yelp out of 4 companies assigned, despite a few negative reviews. After first contact I was impressed that I could have had a same day appointment, I had to decline based on my schedule. So after that I had to wait over 2 extra days plus a weekend, until the service technician was in my area again. Didn't have an emergency, so this was acceptable. Was given a window of arrival time and the technician, Volodymyr showed up on time and in a company shirt. He wore a mask and gloves entire time, so follows COVID-19 precautions. Bonus star. Onto the repair. Volodymyr was very knowledgeable and efficient. Explained what issues we were having, he asked a few questions and he got right to work. He was very familiar with the setup of a Kitchenaid fridge. He was through and fixed the issue a SEARS technician failed to recognize and fix a month before. He didn't have to download a service manual on his phone before he could even get started. He didn't have to order a bunch of extra, expensive parts that were unneeded and had to be returned (Sears). Volodymyr went above and beyond to clean a drain clog and fixed an area that had a seal/gasket leak. He completed the repair in a decent amount of time and cleaned up after himself. Bonus, he even offered a few suggestions to keep up with owner-maintenance. I would recommend this company and Volodymyr as your service technician. It has only been a day since the repair, but the fridge is fixed and running better, and I don't anticipate having to come back and update this review. read more

Home warranty sent out this company & never again will I allow them to enter my home!! Had a SIMPLE microwave issue. 13yo appliance that just needed to be replaced. Already troubleshooted the issue since each time we tried to use the microwave, it tripped the breaker. Electrician came out and confirmed it was not an electrical issue. 1. They don't call ahead no matter how many times you asked. They showed up while I was in the shower. My underage son let the rep in, so we didn't have a missed appt. 2. We unplugged the microwave for safety reasons. From the time the rep entered my home to the time he left (per my ring camera), it was 16 mins. I came out of the bathroom to discover the rep supposedly changed out the capacitor, thermal fuse and something else all within my shower time. How is that possible? Come to find out after checking in inside cameras that he didn't change anything out, and instead just plugged it back in. After expressing my concern with the property manager, the Appliance Repair company tried to say they had to come back out AGAIN to see why we still had a problem. When I contacted Julia about the additional work-order that was placed without my approval or confirmation, she tried to say I was the unresponsive one even though I called her back within 2 hrs of her missed phone call (in which she answered and told me she would call me back after speaking to the rep). I then questioned the time and the supposed events the rep did the week before but because she didn't like my tone and facts that I had video proof to the lies, she demanded I send her my video proof and threatened to hang up on me then pressed "record" to our conversation without my approval. I explained that was against the law to do that, but I had nothing to hide-well since she wanted to be aggressive with me holding her accountable, I then asked her why she entered my home with only seeing a minor and not an adult? Her tone changed quickly. It honestly wasn't even necessary and was a waste of my time speaking with her. She was unprofessional and didn't like that I was able to prove her rep was lying. They tried to charge the home warranty company twice without even fixing the issue. It was cheaper to just buy a new microwave and install it ourselves. The drinking water in the fridge was getting warmer and warmer. I looked online to see who my neighbors would recommend and Unique Appliance Repair had 4 stars and was close by. There was an actual person who answered on my first call and I was told someone would be over within a couple hours. Vladimir showed up, looked at the fridge, ordered the part as soon as I gave the thumbs up. He said it would take maybe 2 days for the part, which would make it Monday or Tuesday with a faulty fridge over the weekend, though Vladimir said it might come in early. The pleasant woman called the next day, Friday afternoon and said she had the part and it could be repaired that afternoon. 5 stars all around! read more

I came home from work, and he was repairing the ice chute door. After a few minutes he said it was fixed and to wait for the ice container to thaw before placing the ice container back. This place is a straight-up scam. Fidelity Home Warranty assigned me this contractor and after no response, I called. I had asked for available time-slots to reschedule and when I called to follow-up, I was told the contract was cancelled. I followed up with Fidelity who said Unique Appliances actually requested to cancel the contract due to me being unresponsive despite having had a conversation with them 3 days prior. I asked Fidelity to resend the contract, immediately followed-up with Unique Appliances who said they'll contact me once they receive the new contract. I was never contacted. I called Unique Appliances and have not received a response. Now Fidelity is telling me the contract was cancelled again because they couldn't reach me. I've had two conversations the entire month and been proactive at calling them. Scammers be scamming. read more

Uline assigned me this provider to help in the installation and return of our defective refrigerator. They did a great job in installing it but when I asked if they could reverse the door handle similar to the defective unit they told me flat out no, unless they had a work order form Uline to complete. In addition, they told me I would need to work with Uline to return the defective unit as this was not their issue or problem and should not be the middle man in the return. In fact, the shipment was routed to go to Uline and they re-routed it to my home. So there you go, I am stuck with the defective unit in my garage and thank goodness Uline is sending another service provider to help get the unit removed and the door fix. I see a theme here...Dear Unique Appliance Repair, why do you even work with home warranty companies if you're going to do such a terrible job? The tech that came out was nice enough. The diagnosis was a broken bearing, which is more expensive than replacement. UAC could have reported that to the insurance company, however this would have hit their ratings with home warranty negatively so they lied and said that they could not fix it so that it would get transferred to another shop and this other shop would have to take the hit. This ended up taking an additional 2 weeks. Even worse is the woman that answers the main line...she is impatient and doesn't let you talk at all. Super frustrating to talk to. I found this company through my home warranty repair. They have fixed my dishwasher and washer. They schedule a week after the call. You are given a 3 hr window and they sent texts of ETA. The two different repair that I have meet has always been professional, assess the situation and follow up. Dishwasher took two visits but he explain what he was doing and why. Our dryer wasn't heating properly. Randomly worked drying clothes. Would dry the first load but nothing after. Contacted our home warranty company (dryer came with the house we bought earlier this year) who contracted Unique Appliance Repair. When tech came out he tested the dryer and said its heating cycle seemed to work properly. I told tech that it would work first load and not after. He said it could be our vents weren't cleaned or dryer needed maintenance. We had dryer cleaned out and did maintenance. Neither fixed the problem. Left several messages trying to get a tech back out and on one call was actually able to speak to someone who told that they're waiting on tech's availability to send back out. No response or follow-up what so ever. Paid another tech to come out and found our regulator was bad. If Unique Appliance Repair only investigated more and wasn't lazy, our problem would have been fixed at their first visit instead of involving all these companies wasting our time and money. I placed the service request with home warranty on a Friday afternoon and was not holding out hope that I would hear from anyone before Monday. I was so impressed and thankful for his consideration to get the ball rolling before the weekend so I didn't have to wait an extra 5+ days. There was a sheet of ice on the bottom of the freezer and water was dripping out of the freezer compartment onto the floor every day went it went into the defrost cycle. Vadim asked me some questions and took time to listen to my answers, assessed everything and then quickly diagnosed the problem, which was a clogged condensation line that feeds into the drip pan. He melted the ice, took the back panel off, cleared everything out and then put it back together. Less than 2 hours for the whole repair. Vadim was respectful, professional, efficient and competent and I highly recommend him and Unique Appliance. I was reluctant to have Unique Appliance fix my freezer. I have a home warranty plan and a different company had skillfully and quickly fixed my system (18 years old) in the past. I was unable to get that company this time so I decided to give Unique a try since the warranty company assigned them and I had no choice. Turns out I was concerned for no reason - at least with Vadim being the technician. read more

Home warranty company keeps sending them even though I've asked them not to. The tech who keeps getting sent out is trying to blame the wiring of our oven as the cause for why it won't heat up. Yes an oven worked perfect fine for 19 years and 6 months ago the wiring somehow doesn't have enough amps for the oven it's been running for 19 years. Moron. The electrician who was at our house for something else laughed that it could be the wiring, he said if the amps were incorrect it would pop the circuit breaker. And he acts like reporting to the home warranty that this thing is dead is going to come out of his paycheck so here I am paying for my 5th call out fee with them and the oven still doesn't heat up. The tech was rude too, my husband informed him he was not to come back to this house.
