I went here once before for a headlight bulb change (labor only), they charged $25, I went on my way. Today? I try to get the bulb changed and the "mechanic" tells me that since it's an LED bulb and has a cover that he can guarantee that the bulb isn't burned out and I must have an electrical problem and they need to take the bumper off and check the wiring and the balancer. I let him know I'm pretty sure it's just the bulb. No idea why he wouldn't just change the bulb, lazy, unsure how idk but he argued me down for a good 5 minutes that it was more than a bulb and it would be a waste of time to change the bulb only because it wouldn't work. I asked him how much to just change the bulb and if I was wrong so be it and this man tells me $200. At this point I'm not sure if he thought I was stupid or he just didn't want to do it but I left.. I went somewhere else who went ahead and changed both headlight bulbs for a total of $40 and guess what? They work. So either he was going to pretend to do way more and only replace the bulbs or he really has no clue. Either way, I won't be back and if you're looking for an honest/ trustworthy mechanic I'd keep looking. read more

Amazing work, great customer service, and reasonably priced. Unique Auto Care was recommended when I discovered my mechanic of 20 years retired and sold the business. Unfortunately, the current owners did not provide the same quality of work. Let's get started...where do I start? Dont' know...Ok Well...let's get started. I had an engine replaced in my vehicle at Unique Auto Care (Detroit, West 8mile near Wyoming St). Don't get me wrong. I believe they did a good job with the engine for the most part, but it was everything surrounding the it with concern to associated functionality and processes... I'll try to be brief which is next to impossible...haha, but let the novel begin. I allowed Unique to replace my engine. It may have taken about a week, but I had another vehicle so I wasn't in a rush. I truly wanting to see how great it would be just having it back on the road and winter ready since it was a 4wheel drive...yes..yes...yes. I receive a call from the young lady (office MGR) and she said, "your vehicle is ready for pickup. I gave her a timeline in which I would be available that day to pick it up. We'd gone back and forth a few times and I told her I would not be able to pickup the car until near end of business. She stated they closed early and she was the only person there and would be waiting on me for only my vehicle pickup. She offered to send a car to pick me up, but I was not available to get there at the moment. So we hung up with agreement I would be there at my earliest convenience. I get a another call from her 5 minutes later NOW stating that the owner would be the only one there and she was leaving and he would be there trying to wait patiently. I explained again that I would be there at my earliest convenience. She gave me the ole 'well ok, but he will be here waiting'. I was waiting on the ole 'my children are at home sleepy and starving to death until I go hunting to provide sustenance for there livelyhood...SO HURRY UP MAN' story. On top of it they were supposedly closing for the 'Covet 19' thing...for 2 weeks. I get there earlier than anticipated and guess who was there? THE WHOLE CREW. I mean office manager, owner and every mechanic known to man haha. There had to be a hundred folks there going full blast...regular days work. I was a little more than upset for being lied to, but didn't show it. I performed a few preliminary checks and asked more than a few questions. I took the vehicle and later that day one of my neighbors stated there was something leaking under my vehicle. When all said and done, it was leaking transmission fluid like a faucet. They had broken the line placing the new engine. Now, this was very noticable to the point that everyone that saw it, had the same reasoning..."they knew there was a problem when they gave me the vehicle...they needed to get my money prior to shutdown and this would also buy a bit of time until their return two weeks later'. Well, instead of the shop being closed for 2 weeks it was closed for almost a month. So my vehicle sat for that entire length of time. When they eventually reopened for business, I took it back. Calling time and time again, it took them about 2 weeks to fix that issue because they placed that work on the back burner. Well...I go to get the vehicle and find there is a flat tire. I mentioned it and they grudging gave me one of the tires they had in stock. So now you would think I'm good to go...NO. A day or so later, I tried to use the air conditioner and found it wasn't working when it was originally. I took the car back and the person that worked on my vehicle stated that there was no belt attached. I said, "well it looks as if whoever replaced the engine forgot to place the belt". We'll they took care of that...THANK GOODNESS!!! One other thing I noticed was the locks engaged and disengaged at will. It was like I had Casper the Friendly Ghost in my vehicle. There was no rhyme or reason, it would just happen out of the blue. I mentioned that to them and they gave the vehicle a good once over (I GUESS) and couldn't find anything so there answer was that it may be something that required to be reset and it would clear on its own. At this point and among other small things, I simply laughed and said to myself, "NO MORE!!!"...I drove off with the new mindset that whatever else is wrong I'll deal with it at another repair shop"...GOOD LUCK and GOOD BYE HAHAHA!!! This place is a total and complete rip off. STAY AWAY! Came in to rotate tires. Job was wrong. Wanted to charge me $20 more to rotate my tires! Seriously? Very disappointed in the Service. I just paid them to install a new motor in my vehicle that they charged me a little over $2000.00 for and said I would get a 6 month warranty with. A week after I got it back it was back in the shop about 2 different times as it was leaking coolant. They told me they couldn't find anything. I had to take it to another shop that told me it was the water pump. They told me they would not warranty that as it was not part of the motor. Mind you he sold me a used motor and I was under the impression that if anything went wrong with it he would stand by his work. I am so tired of auto shops not living up to their word. read more

I had a great experience at UAB. I hit my car as I was leaving my parking spot around 4pm on a Saturday. I scratched the passenger side and broke my passenger side mirror. I was so upset and couldn't drive my car around without being able to see through the mirror and having it wobbling. I searched for a while and I came across UAB here on yelp as the only business that was open on a Saturday. But there were no reviews. I called them and by the time I got there it was around 5:30pm. The owner and his son greeted me well and gave me a quote. They wouldn't let me drive off the lot the way the car was and fixed my mirror temporarily, stabilizing it with screws and extra parts so that I can actually use it. He also plugged a hole in my tire... they worked past the business hours and made my car drivable and all at NO charge for that visit. Within a day, they had found the part I needed and fixed my mirror. They gave me a great price and also accommodated my busy schedule and took my car in as soon as I arrived without making me wait. I have bad luck with my car (or maybe it's just me!!) but I usually have to get a lot of work done on my car. This was a surprisingly pleasant experience from beginning to end. The guys at UAB didn't seem money hungry or just out to scam me like I usually feel at other body shops. They genuinely wanted to help. Hopefully I won't need other repairs soon, but when I do I'll definitely be going back to them! read more

Went to Unique Auto Care for the first time, and will never go elsewhere from now on for any other car services I need in the future. I got a car starter installed for my Honda CRV. Although, I didn't make an appointment and they were very busy when I got there, they accommodated their schedule to get the starter installed. It barely took an hour, and they have a nice, spacious waiting area for customers. They were very quick, efficient, and gave me the best quote in town. A very friendly and knowledgeable staff who makes it evident that customer satisfaction is their priority!
