Walked in midday with a desperate need for an eyebrow clean up. Unique is located on the second floor, although there is signage on the ground floor it wasn't immediately clear from street level. Find it by the address. Interior is clean and airy, and they are running a well oiled threading machine upstairs. Ladies are efficient. Despite all of the staff being occupied, we were able to walk in and get service after only 5ish minutes. They are maybe too efficient because I noticed they didn't do a very thorough job. I had to fill in and tweeze a bit after. However, they got the 80% of the job done for a reasonable price. Good option in a pinch read more

Had a mediocre experience today getting my eyebrows threaded here. The big price board mentions it is 12$ and no mention of cash and card prices.When i went to pay she said it is 13.98 as i was paying by card and tax but i cant imagine 2$ tax on 12$ bill(NY sales tax is 8%) and asked for tip to be added on the card.I said i want to give 10% ,but she insisted i give atleast 2$ .I know it is not much of a difference at all and just rounding up ,but i hated the attitude. The lady who did my eyebrows did an okay job and made one eyebrow slightly thinner than the other despite telling her just to clean up and not overdo it. I had a mediocre experience here. Looking for a quick eyebrow thread, I stopped by while in the area since the reviews looked ok. There was no wait and the lady had me seated right away. I mentioned I like a thicker brow and trying to grow them. She went on to say I have gaps in my brows and should think about brow lamination and their other brow services. I mentioned I'll think about it and just want my brows done today. She tried selling the service to me two more times. Then asks what about your upper lips? Nose? I only came for an eyebrow thread and it felt like I was being sold all these extra things. Idk why they always ask 'upper lips too?' Even when you don't have hair to remove. And a nose thread?? I have never heard of this. At checkout I mentioned I used to thread my own brows a while ago when they were thicker and she says maybe that's why they are messed up? Weird reply. Almost rude even. I wanted a pic of the menu of services and she tells me oh you can google it. Hmm... didn't see any updated prices on google or yelp. Doesn't look like the business posted any updated pricing on yeEyebrow threading is $12 (which is increased from reviews written a while ago). I paid cash to avoid credit card fees/taxes. Overall, brows look okay but I really didn't like the constant upsell of services, commenting on me messing up my own brows, and overall tone of things. I didn't walk out feeling amazing like I do after getting brows done elsewhere. The place is clean/modern but the lighting makes it hard to clearly see your brows. Crazy working hours, coupled with a last minute trip to NYC = no time to wax :( I called frantically on a late Friday afternoon and they were able to squeeze me in with about 15-20 min of waiting time. I was helped by Karina and I kid you not - she was god sent. Super proficient with both waxing and threading. She was very quick, but precise and detail oriented at the same time. As someone who has been waxing since I was 15, this is like finding a unicorn in the wax world. I legit wanted to steal her and take her back to VA with me. She was also very quick with threading my eyebrows and the process was as painless as it could get given they are literally ripping hair from your body. Naz is so talented and my very bushy/curly eyebrows turned out amazing! She absolutely deserves 5 stars. The only complaint that I have, and the reason that I'm giving 3 stars is that while I was being serviced, a man who seemed to have a mental health issue walked into the shop and tried to engage with Naz. It's unsafe for the employees and customers alike. Management should consider installing a buzzer or lock in an attempt to keep everyone safe. read more

Naz is amazing at what she does! She is warm and friendly and always professional! Moreover, Naz is always able to pull my thinning eyebrows together into a beautiful shape. She's truly amazing! To management: since vagrancy is a big issue in mid-town at the moment, I would strongly suggest that you install a buzzer system in this shop. Yesterday a man who had been pacing the sidewalk for a few minutes walked in and asked where 50-cent lived. Clearly this person has some mental health issue and may possibly be homeless. I have also witnessed belligerent behavior from other vagrants in the neighborhood. The ladies are often alone until the next customer comes in. I am always scared to try new eyebrow threading places. I am new to NYC and this is the second place I've tried and will now be my new spot. There was no wait (I went on a Monday morning) and the lady was very friendly! The service was quick and almost painless. She was very gentle. She kept my eyebrow shape and just cleaned them up and trimmed them which is exactly what I like. I also got my upper lip waxed which was much needed. Amazing service!! I've been going here for about a year for my eyebrow threading needs, bikini waxing needs, upper lips & chin waxing needs and GIRL they do not disappoint! Stopped on my lunch break to get a quick facial which they have advertised for $25. Multiple interruptions during service (took other clients as well as argue with a lady who's phone was stolen minutes before I was taken back for my facial totaling a 30 minutes delay during my facial), then charged $55 for the facial and argued that she said it would be more when she did not. I have been getting my eyebrows threaded for years, but just settled with mediocrity. Usually I leave a salon with stray hairs around my eyebrows and small patches of blood/scab from the threading. I decided to go to this salon today since it was a year since I had gotten my eyebrows done. AMAZING JOB! I was soooo amazed by Naz (The woman who threaded my eyebrows). She really took the time to perfect them, shape them and clean the area around it. She also introduced me to tinting, which completely transformed my eyebrows into a more fuller and sharper look! I heard of this place from a friend. I arrived with 2 people in front of my and Sara was quick! I didn't wait for more than 10 minutes. I'd never had threading before and she made it a very enjoyable experience. I also waxed my upper lip and threaded my chin. All 3 took maybe 10 mins. Just be mindful they recently moved. Love Naz but the other professionals here are the worst. They are catty and constantly make you feel bad about the way you look by cross-selling you other services. In addition to that, they don't understand customer service at all, which sucks when you're as loyal as me and have been to this salon more than 25 times in the last year. Do not get a Brazilian here. I went on a lunch break to get a quick Brazilian and I saw a sign that stated they had a special for $25, so I thought I'd give it a try. I get inside and the decor and look is nice. When my water started I knew this experience would not be a good one. First she just had a very heavy hand, I've been getting waxed for almost two years and this is the most painful wax I've ever had. Keep in mind I had just been waxed 3 weeks prior. She continued to go over the same spots over and over so I began to feel my skin was raw. In my head I thought well at least she'll get every hair, nope there is a patch with hair left. Lastly, I've been so sore ever since, which never happens to me. Then last night trying to get comfortable was impossible. This morning I wake up to SCABBING! The entire lower half of my bikini area is one giant scab. So gross and annoying, honestly I want my money back. read more
