I paid $100 for a guy to come out, tell me that he wasn't sure but guessed we needed a panel upgrade and the home warranty wouldn't cover it. He adjusted something on our dimmers and left, after mentioning that if we wanted to save money we could skip pulling permits. I do not play that way. I pull permits and I want quality work. While I grew up around painting and construction, I do not know jack about electrical stuff. So now I am overwhelmed trying to find a reputable company to not screw us around and throw more money down the drain and ya know, be a mom, wife, full-time employee, blah blah blah. My husband found this company and I used the same long message I sent another company who responded to my Facebook plea for a reputable company. I got a response, AFTER HOURS. They came out the next day. (After hours meaning it was night time, not that I was waiting a super long time because I didn't, I just want to make sure I am clear there.) They spent TIME here. Looked at the panel. The home was built in 1980. It isn't falling apart, but we should start saving for a new panel eventually. They checked outlets and said things to each other that, again, is outside of my understanding. Hubby was in the office that day so I was video calling him and speaker phoning and whatnot because hell, I thought our panel was in the garage with our solar panel. They adjusted some things, put in some new parts, and told me that they wanted to address the issue in layers because the last thing they wanted to do was replace my panel and for us to still have problems. And they left. I still had some anxiety because of what I went through the furst time with the warranty company. And NOTHING. Our lights are perfect!!! Zero flickering and it has been DAYS. AND, we have a great big dog and they were great with our dog. Dogs know good people. He liked these guys. He was pretty meh on the furst guy. Me too dog, me too. I called another electrician I used before, but they were not able to send someone right away, so I decided to call AllCity. The Amazing Renzo appeared a few hours later and checked out our breaker panel. He said "your circuit breakers are all good, but I am pretty sure that your city service line is compromised". He told me "I am not permitted to call the city for you, but I will tell you exactly how to describe the problem to them". He then coached me on how to describe the issue. I called Riverside Public Utilities and followed his instructions--they came out within AN HOUR!! and quickly restored our service. Kudos to both Renzo and RPU for their excellent work! But wait, there's more! Several months later the tenant in the home I am renting out called to say that her power was out. Renzo came out again, this time with an assistant. They determined that the 50 amp master breaker was toast. Now these are breakers from the 1970s and apparently no longer manufactured. They made some calls and were able to locate a used breaker in good working order. They returned a few hours later with a working breaker and after wrestling the dead breaker out they installed the working unit and restored power to the house. The price was very reasonable all things considered and certainly much less than a new breaker panel. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
