We just happened to be in the area and looked up Polish food and saw this restaurant. We called and they were only open for 40 mins. We got there and they were willing to seat us, even though they were closing soon. My husband got the taco pierogi bowl and wow! I've never had anything like it, nor had he. What a fun way to enjoy pierogis. What was better was the taste. It tasted AMAZING! I got the Polish Plate and this Polish granddaughter couldn't have been happier. It was made with the love and care like my grandma would have made it. The soup of the day happened to be Dill Pickle soup. That happens to be my favorite. I am beyond stuffed! We won't need dinner tonight. What was even better is that they have frozen soups you can get to go. So, we got 4 of those and the menu had strawberry pierogis (which I have never heard of). I asked for a to-go order of those. I planned to wait to eat one with my parents, but I was dying to know what a strawberry pierogi was like. It is an explosion of flavor. It may be better than nalisniki. If you are in this area or passing by, I highly recommend stopping. It is run by a mother and son who are a true gem. Highlight of my trip to London! I'm not familiar with the City, but I found this café in a strange area. There wasn't much foot traffic around - with the exception of some questionable characters, lotsa boarded up businesses, and most of the parking seemed like it was restricted to the street. Luckily, Unique Food Attitudes shares a lot with a shuttered business, so I was able to park directly behind the restaurant. Restaurant itself has a nice facade and sidewalk, planters look very well maintained. Tbh, this place doesn't quite look as though it belongs to the area. Menu is fairly straight forward and there are some Specials on the blackboard. Interior has a modern, European café vibe. According to the owner (??), everything is homemade including the soups, pierogies, desserts, sauces, etc. I found prices quite reasonable...especially in comparison to what I'm used to. I had a coffee, meat pierogies, tried the smoked pork soup, and the cheesecake w/ ginger cookie. Everything was delicious! Owner was very friendly and personable. My grandson and I ate a late lunch here - excellent. We tried the dill pickle soup - so good. My grandson ate all of his cup and a few bites of mine. We enjoyed the Polish Plate with cabbage roll and pierogies and Polish Potine. All very good. Appreciated the personal touch of the chef and owner. I highly recommend. read more

I like the interior and the atmosphere of this place. The waiter was super friendly and nice. Loved their pancake...donuts were too sweet for me though. The breaded pork cutlet was not bad, but I wish they had some special sauce to go with it. Felt something was missing. Update: Enjoyed crepe breakfast. It was warm and cozy meals. Unique Food Attitudes is perhaps the strangest name for a restaurant that I've encountered. But don't let that deter you, because it's my favorite restaurant I've found in London in the two months I've been here so far. The most surprising thing about Unique Food Attitudes is the upscale, modern, polished interior. The prices and food quality are what you'd expect at a typical hole-in-the-wall ethnic food place, but the atmosphere is what you'd expect at a trendy city bistro in LA or New York. The menu is small and seems to consist mostly of pretty traditional Polish food -- things like goulash, meat cutlets with cabbage salad, stuffed cabbage rolls, and of course pierogis. Perhaps surprisingly for an Eastern European restaurant, there are a good number of vegetarian options, too! I tried a blackboard special of one cabbage roll and four pierogis. The presentation of the food was delightful, with an adorable little plate for the sour cream and slick-looking white china dishes. I had my choice of pierogi fillings, and picked the potato and cheddar, which were great (although served on the lukewarm side; they could have been hotter.) The cabbage roll was quite large. I've had stuffed cabbage in the past with a stuffing that's maybe 60/40 meat/rice; this one was probably 20/80 meat/rice. But the flavor was great. My guy tried the krokiety, which were like pan-fried crepes (sort of like egg rolls) filled with a mushroom/cabbage mixture. It was served with borscht, which (unlike most borscht I've had) was a thin broth without any "stuff" in it. The flavor was fantastic; I want to figure out how to make it myself! We made an impulse buy of a Polish donut with custard. It was delicious, although there wasn't actually very much filling in it. Recommendation: if you get it to go, throw it in the microwave for a few seconds to make it warm/less dry. Entrees range from $9.50 - $15. They also serve breakfast sandwiches and coffee in the morning. There's metered parking on the street; if you park on English street a little ways down, you can park for an hour for free. That should be enough time; we visited on a weekday at around noon and the place was packed, but we were still in and out in under an hour. One big way in which Unique Food Attitudes could improve: they should hire another person for the lunch rush. One poor frazzled guy was manning the cash register, taking care of take-out orders, and providing waiter service to the entire restaurant. This guy was impressive; he remained attentive, friendly, and professional in spite of being obviously overworked. But it meant that we had to wait for quite a while to take our order; it would be a more pleasant customer experience to have another staff member. read more

Agnes said it best "It's so fluffy, I'm gonna die!" She may have been talking about a toy unicorn, but potato...pierogi. Perfect little pillows of light fluffy yum. I've been trying to go to UFA FOREVER but the odds were never in my favour until last Saturday afternoon. My increased motivation was spurred by an off hand comment in a FB group about their Polish Poutine. Say what now? Pierogies, goulash and cheese. Yep, sold! I don't think I've had a better made and tasty pierogi in my lifetime. Such yum, much good. The goulash's beef was a bit tough but it didn't detract from the full flavour of the poutine at all. My side salad choice was mizeria aka cucumber salad. It's a simple dish - cucumber and sour cream - but it makes my heart happy as it is a family favourite. We also had to try a cabbage roll. It is very big. The rice/meat ratio is a bit different than I'm used to, as Alida R mentioned, but it's an old school family recipe and wasn't altered for our meaty palettes. I also found the sauce a bit too "tomato soup-y" (sweeter than expected) but mixed with the roll made it better. Overall, a tasty sample. I live a stone's throw from this place so I shall return very soon for those tasty pillows of light fluffy yum. Maybe try another filling. But that poutine is so amazing, I'm pretty sure I heard Agnes yelling her approval as we departed. read more

My wife and I were passing through London after picking up a canoe in Paris Ontario. After yelping some restaurants, we settled on Unique Foods. Being Polish, and having spent much of my culinary development at mom's table and Hamtramck, I was interested to see what Canadian Polish cuisine would is like. We were very impressed. The food quality and flavors were outstanding and the presentation very pleasing. I would highly recommend a visit whether passing through or you live in the area. read more

Borscht Porsche was good but nothing how to get too excited about. Polish Caesar was unique and good daily soup was great coleslaw was really good pierogies were excellent. Cabbage rolls for tasty but we're lacking sauce and seem to have an abundance and overabundance of rice but a lock of pork or any other meat product. Now maybe this is the traditional polish way of making them but when giant Tiger cabbage rolls seem to have more meat in them something seems to be funny but they did taste okay I was disappointed though especially at $6 a cabbage roll. P I will eat there again it's only for the daily soup and we'll give the cabbage rolls another try but they seem to have so much rice in them but I can only hope that it was a mistake?? read more

Having spent multiple months in Eastern Europe (Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Austria) over the past two years, I can tell you with confidence that Unique Food Attitudes is as authentic as it gets. Great food but when me and my girl went to eat. The guy who waited on us looked at us strangely almost as if we were unwelcome as he asked us if we had reservations. We both thought you're hardly in the neighborhood for a place that would need reservations on top of not offering alcohol and the place was empty aside from one family in there when we first arrived. I'll say again the food was good but the waiter was weird as hell. I had the feeling that I wanted to walk out the whole time I was there because of it. I have been meaning to try this place for ages and finally got the chance recently. And believe me, I am So glad I did! It's honestly like eating in your Polish aunt's house - provided you have one - which I do not. So this works out perfectly as a great substitute. It's a pretty small place, with seating for only about 30 or so - and while busy (almost 1/2 the place was taken up by a single group) we were seated right away and the service was amazing. We might even have been checked on too often, if that is even possible. of course, everyone checking in on us was so friendly and sweet that it was impossible to mind one bit. I had some sort of perogie poutine dish which was so delcious that I've found my mind occasionally returning to it in the days following. My wife had the pork shnitzel which looked amazing and upon trying it can confirm that it was in fact really good. The prices were also very reasonable for what you got although our small final bill may also owed to the fact that the place does not serve booze. A beer to wash down my meal would have almost certianly earned this place a coveted 5th star. That being said, when my wife ordered tea to accompany her dessert the amount of choices she was given was simply mind-boggling. With food that truly looks homemade and an adorable decor it is not hard to see why it can be so difficult to get a table here. Of course, we just strolled in and it was only in hindsight that I realized how lucky we were. This is our go-to when my husband and I are looking for a hearty home cooked meal. My husband is Polish and it's his favourite place for Polish food in the city. The menu is short but all the options are delicious. I'm a huge fan of the goulash with potato pancake and pierogies and I highly recommend the soups. Service is always quick and friendly. No liquor license unfortunately but that's ok. It's not in the nicest location but when inside it has a great crisp and modern atmosphere and it's small and cozy too. A good place for a quick, hearty meal! I had the goulash/potato pancake & didn't realize that it would be goulash on top of a potato pancake. It was pretty awesome though. Also tried the meat perogies - not as big a fan of these, but the perogie dough itself was of good quality. I suspect that the cheese/potato perogies would be much better. If you are ever near London, Ontario, you need to make time to go here for lunch or dinner. We stopped for lunch and were thoroughly impressed with the food, service, and cleanliness of the restaurant. My entire family loved it. They redefined my perception and appreciation for goulash. I previously thought is was a horrible dish quickly prepared by someone wearing a hair net for school students. I was wrong. My gorgeous wife had the cabbage rolls and loved them. The only downside was that parking wasn't clearly marked. Don't let the discourage you from checking this place out. read more
