It's the difference between a salesman and someone who actually wants to set you up for a good day on the water. He walked me over to a display and pulled a rod, reel, and line combo -- all for $50. "This is all you need," he said. And he meant it. He could have easily steered me toward something pricier, but he didn't. That kind of honesty is rare and it earns loyalty. A few bobbers and a bag of hooks later, I walked out fully rigged and ready to go. The shop is easy to find -- right on Montauk Highway, about half a mile from the Robert Moses Causeway.
