Unfortunately, I had a deeply dissatisfactory experience with Unique Hardwood Floors. After finding them on Yelp, I contracted with Duy to refinish the hardwood floors in my home. After the work was completed, my wife and I noticed a number of quality issues, the most concerning and still unresolved of which is that there are hundreds of nail holes and divots that have un-dried and un-cured oil and filler. When we walk on the floors, we can feel stickiness on our socks due to these deficiencies. Federico, one of Duy's employees, attempted to address the issue by buffing the floors and adding another coat of oil, but this did not resolve it. Today, the issues persist, and we are still not moved back into the home. I was forced to find another contractor, who came and evaluated the floors. The evaluation confirmed the quality deficiencies and revealed that the best way to resolve the work deficiencies was to completely re-do the impacted floors: by re-sanding and re-finishing them. We now are paying another contractor to fix the flooring. When I informed Duy that this was the manner in which we'd be proceeding--and that we'd like to work with him to obtain a refund to cover our financial damages--he categorically refused. I certainly wish that our project with Duy ended more positively, but I cannot in good conscience recommend his company as a flooring contractor. read more

I hired Unique Hardwood Floors for a floor installation job. We wanted to get rid of our original carpet with LVP. Materials were provided by me with the exception of underlayment. Nearly every aspect of the job was discussed over the phone. A very important lesson - Do Not discuss a job over phone or internet only, an in-person measurement is essential. I appreciate Duy for finding a quick appointment, but I'm quite disappointed with his post-project experience. Finished work would have looked more professional with proper sealant work all around the joints. His crew didn't knew how to install a popular T-molding from the HomeDepot. I had to search installation videos and show it to the crew. Some other project details - $500 for carpet removal, $600 for underlayment and $3/sq ft for labor. read more

An update for the stairs repair Duy responded promptly to my request and had the new riser board made by the subcontractor the next day, Friday 2/21. Duy came and got it installed a couple days later on the 2/26 - mostly due to my side of scheduling difficulty (Duy was ready to install it on Monday 2/24). The board is solid 1/4 inch thick, a lot more stronger! During installation Duy had to go back to the subcontractor to bend the board for the curved corner part. The end product is very good! The board is absolutely solid. Sturdy and strong, I think it's installed right against the backing board. I am confident there won't be any issues with the board breaking in the future. Found Unique Hardwood on yelp. They helped with carpet removal and installation of LVP which we procured from homedepot. Here were our pro's and con's. Pro's: Quick response time, available to complete the job within a week, adapted to our design choice, installed the LVP and baseboards across the home on time and the quoted budget. Con's: We were disappointed that no leveling was done prior to install of the LVP and we were not told it was needed. We are left with uneven flooring and need to pay more to get it fixed. Overall, you will need to make sure you know something about flooring to ensure all aspects are covered, but if do know about flooring, and you need someone to come in and get it done these are the guys for the job. read more

Duy could accommodate my strict schedule, offering an estimate on a Saturday, as I still had tenants in the house, and that was the only time available to them. To add to the challenge, I wanted to start the project just one week later, and it was far from a small task with a 1700 sq. ft. floor installation. From the day Duy came by, he was highly responsive, assisting me in choosing the vinyl plank brand and quickly providing the estimate by Monday (I selected the Gaia Red Series Riva).
