We called several days later and were told we'd get a quote in the next few days. Still NOTHING. Based on a couple quotes we received, this would be an approximately 15-20k job. We're sooooo disappointed. We had them do our floors in March and we had a really hard time with them, getting things corrected and their attention to detail. They had to replace some boards in this area downstairs for our new bathroom and instead of matching the medium brown stain used on the other flooring they used black stain and it really highlights the inconsistencies in the width of the board. The floor looks terrible, plus they didn't vacuum it out after they sanded so there's all this crud in between the boards that are now sealed in with oil based refinishing. It's actually quite disgusting. We haven't called them back to fix it because they were so hard to work with. Now we are going to have to pay another company to fix this. read more

We received clear and timely communication with Albini throughout the entire process. We had a couple change orders (asked them to do additional work on our staircase) during the process. When they were done you could not tell where the old flooring started and the new flooring was added. They were super clean and courteous. We are very pleased with the results of our project. This place is pretty ok. The good: the price is reasonable and the work is decent. The challenges: like other reviewers said, communication and project management need to be better. I had to initiate and follow up all the contact about the schedule, work in general, stain colors, etc. If you're a newbie to floor refinishing with not a lot of time, this place will stress you out. Did a bad job on our floors. Left huge holes pools Of stain and nail marks by the door. When we mentioned it to the workers they said they would fix it and that never happened. We had Albini install brand new hardwood floors and trim on more than 2000 square feet in an old ranch home we had purchased. Luis and his team were prompt, professional, and easy to communicate with regarding design decisions. Thanks to their deep expertise they helped us make the right choices to accomplish our goals with the project. They also anticipated any issues so we could discuss solutions, and got in touch with me promptly when they discovered a problem with our sub floor in the kitchen during demolition. I had no trouble discussing options with Luis and aligning on what to do. For example, in some areas of our home the floor had a slope due to settlement. His team was able to address this issue to make the floors more level. The white oak that he procured for the job is beautiful, and when we saw it we immediately wanted to preserve its natural color rather than stain it, which was the initial plan. Luis and team used a high quality coating that truly does look invisible and has held up for the last several months with absolutely no issues. The end result is spectacular and it is one of our favorite things about the new home. There were several challenges that could have resulted in delay, including a record heat wave, wildfire smoke in the air, COVID-19. Nevertheless the team executed and completed the job on time. On top of that, their price was highly competitive with other bids. We have since worked with several other contractors and this has been one of our best experiences if not the best. If you are considering installing new floors in your home I would strongly recommend Albini. read more

We recently had albini come and redo all the hardwood floor in our house. The work was good, but I would not recommend them. Their communication is poor and considering all the stress that is involved with moving out of your house with getting floors redone you need to have someone who responds to calls and texts promptly. There was little guidance about timeline and I had to keep asking when they would start and be done. They didn't finish the thresholds and it wasn't done and it few weeks later and after many phone calls on my end did they come back to finish the job. Hard pass on albini. read more

We interviewed eight companies before selecting Albini. Ive waited almost two years to write this review. The first company I used, there were problems 6 months later so I wanted to give this a good long wait. I am still THRILLED. Communication was mostly good. Jose Luis, the fellows doing the sanding and the others doing the staining were all on point! Everyone seemed to have pride in their work. The fellows doing the stain were marvelous, I had a damaged wood floor and needed to match an existing colour. I have one continuous floor without any room transitions, they very patiently showed me numerous stain combinations. The entire experience was positive. It was wonderful (and unusual) to not have to 'manage' a crew working on my house. The end result remains perfect and I really appreciated that they showed up when they said they would, and finished within the time frame I was told. Since the completion of the job I referred my neighbours who were also very pleased. read more

Because of what is probably a dynamic you contributed to, or sheer human imperfection, you 'don't get a floor bid' and you're going to blast their livelihood with 1-star. Clean, neat and very professional.Jose gave us a quote almost half of some of the quotes we received from other companies.He had already done my sons hardwood floors, so we knew his work was great. After the start of the project, they discovered an extra floor under our carpet. It was difficult to remove and we discussed additional charges. I called and talked to Jose about splitting the charges.He said that he just wanted me to be happy. A lot of people say that but they charge anyway. He didn't charge me anything extra. I asked for a fair deal and he went over the top to make sure I was happy. The floors are beautiful!! I highly recommend this company.All the employees were courteous and attentive and tidy. We had Albini install about ~1000 sq. ft. of hardwood in our home. The materials are high quality and the installation was perfect with no gaps. The work was done on time and the price was competitive. Note: If you ever have hardwood installed, make sure to keep an extra box in storage. Be very specific with the contractor that you want to keep the extra hardwood. It will be invaluable if (when) you need to do repairs. Manufacturers are always adjusting their product lines and discontinuing old hardwood and at some point you will not be able to buy a suitable replacement. read more

The whole project took a week, they came early and worked hard all day. Part of my kitchen floor had to be leveled and they took care of that, told me in advance the details and cost and there were not surprises. Summary: We're thrilled, Luis and his team are wonderful, and the flooring looks beautiful! Longer version: We just bought a new house in Oakland and our realtor recommended Albini who she has used herself in the past. I was a little hesitant because I couldn't find any reviews, but we had a very quick timeline and he said he could meet it, so we went for it. It's run by two brothers, Luis and Primo, and their team. We were NOT disappointed. Luis and his team were courteous, CLEAN, and the contractor holy grail--ON TIME EVERYDAY! They worked a full long day everyday and were so nice to my kids which is always a plus. They met the timeline even when we decided to add baseboards to the bid as well. His prices are in line with other estimates we got, but the service was exceptional and we got a great price on the actual flooring through him as well. He detailed everything in the invoice nicely so I knew what was what and so I could easily figure out how much each part of the job was in case I wanted to DIY any of it. They clearly know what they are doing and we now have beautiful hardwoods in our home that look like they will stand up to years of abuse. read more

I saw Albini trucks pass my house every morning going to their jobsite - figured that was a good sign of work ethic and timeliness, two good traits in a contractor. The work was tricky (I thought) cause it wove in new floor to tie into existing, and really you can't tell at all, it was perfect match. These men are amazing. There had been a huge hiccup on resanding my hardwood floors, with another floor company, and Albini was called into try to fix it. Albini Hardwood Flooring men are wood working magicians. They arrived a day or two after surveying the mess and with a few more days it was completely fixed. All 650 sq ft. Highly recommend. I got multiple bids for refinishing our hardwood floors. Albini was competitively priced. I liked that they have specialty people for each phase of the job (sanders, finishers, baseboard trim). They put a lock-box outside the house so I did not have to be home all the time to let them in. Customer service from Jesus was outstanding. You can reach him via e-mail or text. I also liked that they did not remove the baseboards but could sand right up to them. In and out in 4 days (they estimated 5 days but finished early). We kept furniture off for 7 days by our choice. Happy we selected them. Albini installed my "sand in place" white oak flooring more than 5 years ago and I've recommended them to everyone I know since. After they installed my floors they came back to wrap a support post in the same wood. They are very good at what they do and they are very busy.
