To give a bit of context: We wanted to get the exterior of our house painted and originally had reached out to Nader in February to hopefully get it done by April, but then schedules shifted due to another construction project with another company that we had hired to remodel our deck that dragged things out until September :/ I then checked in with Nader and within a week, he had one of his painters come over and he pressure-washed, scraped, caulked and painted our house within a few days. Cannot understand the great reviews. Quality and workmanship were subpar...just about the laziest I've ever seen and the attention to detail was sorely lacking, as was crew professionalism. Communication and followthrough of obligations was also terrible. They showed up on a weekend to start painting on a vacant house I have for sale. I get there in the evening and I find the three man crew out on the back deck drinking Modelo beer and they're saying they're going to get in, get the ceilings and closets done, and be out the next day. I hired them to re-do my decks outside (railing, surfaces) and repaint the entire interior of my house. As part of that, they were supposed to remove/fill all nail holes. On the deck, any rotten wood was supposed to be replaced. The amount of sloppiness has to be seen to be believed. I'm uploading photos to show the stuff they did. _Some_ got corrected after I complained, but the amount that's still missed is unreal - and I didn't find until I was doing some other work at the house and climbed up a ladder. They missed giant nails sticking out of the wall! How? They painted right over them with the brush or roller. It's obvious they had to go over them. Did they pull and fill? No. Whole rooms (pantry, corner of the master, etc) had mollies/nail holes not filled until I complained. They removed the dryer from the house and the pantry shelves... did they put them back? Nope. Left in the garage covered in dust and not returned or reinstalled. They pulled shelves off the wall and left them piled. Shelves that weren't supposed to come off the wall. They argued about the mantel of the fireplace - said "that's woodwork" even though it's just wall paint, simple box construction, and was right there. They wouldn't paint it. They missed an ENTIRE WALL in the house. I have archways (sheetrock...so "wall") that they didn't paint. On the ones they did get, they didn't paint the top surface of them. When I got up there, they painted the edge but left it undone. The coverage of the paint they used was terrible. You can see the previous color through the job. They clearly used subpar materials and workmanship. The hot tub decking outside...they were so lazy they didn't even left the cover to paint the railing around there. When they tried to match the front deck color (it was stained) with the surface coating paint, they turned it yellow. Until I complained they insisted it was the previous color. I've lived in that house 15 years... I have photos of the old deck color... it was NOT a match in any normal human's brain. They failed to paint inside skylight frames - stopped at the edge of the ceiling and didn't finish up the walls. I've never seen such shoddy work from another contractor. See the photos for the lack of QC. Nader did try to fix some of the work, but his crew did such a terrible job that it basically needs to be almost completely redone. On top of that, they destroyed a blind completely in my living room by tossing it in a pile, they hung two other blinds backwards (hello!? One side is color matched to the house!) and managed to damage the electrical wiring somehow when removing light covers and wall switched, necessitating a call to an electrician. Would NEVER hire them again for anything, and my realtor will make it absolutely clear within his office that no one should use these clowns. In addition, they're VERY hard to work with when you're coordinating multiple contractors. I was having floor work done inside (hardwoods, carpets) and made it clear they were supposed to NOT be in the house until that work was done, just to start on the decks first. Did they listen? NO. They traipsed through the house, did not listen to me, my broker, or the floor people about not being allowed inside until the floors were complete. They needed to be last - to make sure the baseboard moldings which were removed and replaced were properly edged... but they didn't listen. To add insult to injury, they seemed to be unable to lock the patio door on the house when they were done. It's not rocket science to secure a worksite, but these guys were clearly unable to figure it out. DO NOT HIRE THESE FOLKS...you will regret it. read more

I regret using this company for my master bathroom! While the basic paint job is ok, it was clear almost from the start that these are not professional painters. (Nader himself did not do any of the work) His crew did an awful job repairing and prepping the surfaces, and the texture they applied looks like it could have been done by a toddler. It is way too thick and doesn't match the rest of the walls. Additionally, it was difficult to communicate as none of the painters spoke English very well. Nader himself would make a great used car salesman. He is full of yes's and don't worry's, but he clearly takes no pride in workmanship. I was hoping to find someone who I could use to paint my whole house interior this summer if I was happy with the bathroom. Still looking.... read more

The short version is we love Nader and Unique Painting & Design - hire them! Now here's the long version: Picture your most annoying clients; impossible timeline, limited budget, highly detailed oriented to the point that it verges on OCD - that's us! Well, we had two days to move into a home after we sold our house and wanted the entire interior (yes, closets too) painted before we moved all our stuff in. Oh, and did I mention that the previous owners had 6 different shades of bright colors throughout the house including a room with stripes? So I went on yelp, found a few places with good reviews, told them I wanted to whole house repainted in one day and asked when they could come to do a bid. Thankfully Nader from Unique Painting & Design was the first to respond (within 10 minutes actually!). He was very kind and very honest, telling me that he thought it was take more than one day but asking when he could come see the space. When he came over everything we were impressed by the care he took looking at the details of the house and by his continued honesty about what they could do (and shouldn't do) and the different options for painting things. We came up with a plan that would get the job done quickly. We gave him a deposit and he took care of getting all the paint we needed. The morning after we got they keys to the house, his guys were there at 7 a.m. working away. All the painters were super nice, especially considering we had all our furniture moved in on the second day and things got real cozy real quickly. Two days later, the entire house was done! The quality of work was great. Nader came to check the work and fixed up a few small details here and there and voila! The rest is history. We really enjoyed working with Unique Painting & Design - they were respectful, flexible, honest, friendly, customer oriented, and hard working (this list could go on and on). If I could give Unique Painting and Design 10 stars, I would. Nader, the owner, responded to my request initiated on YELP to provide a quote within 30 minutes. He assessed the scope of my project instantly via photos and understood my urgency (i.e., my family room and bathroom were inaccessible). All other contractors I reached out to had no concern for my urgency and informed me that they could not help me for several months and my project was too small for them to bother. Contrast that experience with Unique Painting and Design. Nader found a way to fit me into the schedule within a few days. Nader ensured that I had the right paint available on hand to complete the project properly. He spoke with the sales assistant at the Sherwin-Williams store to confirm I was purchasing the right paint (and sufficient quantity) with his contractor discount. The painter was professional, arrived on time and did a great job. Before leaving he cleaned up and put every switch plate back on the walls. Being the perfectionist that I am, the next day, I saw a few spots that needed minor touch ups. Nader was responsive and happy to come and do the work himself to ensure that I was happy with the result. As a part of this project, the following day I saw another professional who would be installing blinds in the rooms that were painted. That meant that the hardware for the curtains needed to be removed, and the holes patched and painted. Nader, did not hesitate. He came the following day to patch and paint. While at my home to do that work, he installed a new light fixture, saving me both time and money to hire an electrician. The original work and additional visits to our home were prompt and reasonably priced. My experience from start to finish exceeded my expectations. We were looking for someone to paint the entire interior of my mother's condo after she moved to assisted living. I mean - the ENTIRE interior: all walls, all trim, all ceilings, all doors, closet interiors - everything. We needed it done fairly quickly to get the condo on the market and we needed it done right in the middle of August - right in the middle of the busy EXTERIOR painting season. UnquePD painted the exterior of our house. The job included power washing, scraping, sanding, caulking, priming and painting. Before they began, Nadar gave us a very competitive estimate, and offered some help with color and paint selection They did a thorough job with of the preparation work before painting began. At the end of each day they cleaned the work areas and neatly stored their equipment and supplies. After the job was completed, Nadar visited us again to make sure that we were satisfied with the work. There was a couple of minor issues that we found, and he took care of them promptly. I've had several neighbors comment about the nice paint job as well. I'm very impressed with Nadar. We recently hired Nader and his crew to paint the exterior of our home. Nader himself is great to work with, very responsive and eventually makes sure that the customer is satisfied. His crew however is a different story. When they painted my fence, they left the floor and some of the plants uncovered so there was paint all over. I had to walk out and tell them to cover up the plants. Later, Nader made sure that I had new mulch in my garden to cover up the paint splattered mulch. The trim around my front door had the paint peeling off, so instead of sanding/scraping it down they simply painted over it. When I pointed that out to Nader he eventually made sure that the trim was sanded down and repainted. All in all, I will say that the crew did a very sloppy job (chewing gum on concrete steps, not cleaned up until pointed out) but Nader cleaned up after them. However, I did not appreciate the fact that I had to point all this out to them. Considering the price I paid I expected a much neater and professional job. I would give the finished product itself 4 stars, but the angst through the process makes me give them 3. read more

I have always viewed painters and consultants as two different professions; one is usually not good at the others job. The fact is, it is rare to find a person that is both artistic and handy at the same time; one will have the design eye and the other is the work-horse. Nader is a unique breed when it comes to painting. When I first met him, he said that he will not paint just whatever color the client wants, and that he will not be afraid to tell someone "that color is not a good idea". This struck me as different because as a salesman, you never want to tell your client that their thought is wrong. When it comes to paint, however, Nader is never wrong. He is able to paint the perfect picture of what the finished product will look like (pun intended). He is quite remarkable and a solid choice when choosing a painter because he is able to counsel the client on what works best with their house/furniture. I had put off painting my house for most of the summer so was scrambling to find someone who could finish the job before the weather changed at the end of September. Nader came back with a reasonable bid and a promise to finish the job by the end of the following week. I was concerned as it turned out his workers could only work nights which I wasn't aware of, but they came each night and worked until dark. I was still worried they would not have enough time to finish at that rate as it was scheduled to rain on Sunday but they started on Sunday and finished late Saturday afternoon.
