We come here often so we've stopped checking in and leaving reviews, but I have to update now that I see there are so many people who have ZERO personal experience directly with this business leaving 1-star ratings just to back up another non-customer. Clearly, the owner needs to remember that one cannot be joking or light in a response to a frustrated patron on yelp. However, having been a repeat customer over the 3 years we've been in Temecula, we have NEVER experienced these hard-working business owners be anything but friendly, welcoming, and gracious. Fantastic and lots of fun! A friend of mine offered to help me take home a purchase I made locally at the Restore. Before going there we decided to have lunch. Since she has lived in the area, she chose Indian Food. There was no place to sit once we paid for our order. Across the parking lot she spotted Unique Pastry Factory and literally screamed "THERE IS ICE CREAM WITH OUT DOOR SEATING". It was as if we had just won the lottery... little did we know we actually did. I walked in to see what type of ice cream and "unique" pastries there were available since I remembered my mask. I took a few pictures of the case. The owner looked a little concerned. I walked outside and consulted with my friend. I was very excited. The flavors in the case were things like Basil Orange Gelato. Omg my mouth was watering with anticipation. We picked up our food order from the Indian Restaurant across the parking lot, and walked over to Unique Pastry placing our food on a table. Our plan was to purchase Ice Tea or a beverage and then a scoop of ice cream... Best laid plans.... lol We tested his Gelato. The owner Csaba was funny, kind and passionate about his creations. He teased us and shared life stories. I tipped him $5 for all the samples he so willingly gave us with such delight. He truly enjoys creating his flavors. We both decided one scoop was not going to be enough and purchased 4 scoops each and blood orange Italian soda. We asked him to serve us the 4 scoops after we had lunch. We both ate a little lunch making sure we both had enough room for our anticipated 4 scoops of delish! While we were sitting outside, Csaba added a new flavor - Watermelon! OMG... refreshing! My four scoops were Watermelon, Chocolate, Banana, and Raspberry Cabernet. My next 4 scoops (next week when I am back in Temecula) will need to include the Basil Orange which was delightful! After our 4 scoops each you would think two woman in their 50's would have had enough sweet for the day. No... nope! Csaba had described the Chimney Cake to us as we ordered our Gelato and we had to try it, so we bought one of those too and nibbled on it all the way home to Idyllwild. We needed all that delightful sugar to give us the energy to unload the Buffet I purchased from ReStore for my new store! Visiting with Csaba at his store and listening to his stories, how he came to the United States and his journey, was a delightful gift. His joy of making Gelato and the flavors, was truly magical! My son and I came here for a treat. We each got a scoop of gelato and we shared a cinnamon sugar chimney cake. I also got a coffee. The gelato was AMAZING--some of the best gelato we've ever had! The chimney cake was DELICIOUS and unique to this area. The coffee was brewed perfectly and is a very good brand of coffee. The shop is nicely decorated and clean. The owner was friendly and offered great customer service. It was a very enjoyable experience in every respect and we will definitely return to try more flavors of gelato and chimney cake. Although Temecula, CA seems like a small town with not much to do, there seems to be some hidden gems in the small town like this one! It is in a small plaza that seems quite empty, but there is outside and inside seating. Small place, but owners are very friendly and welcoming. This is sure unique as it is best known for its different chimney cakes and the delicious gelato! I would recommend getting the ice cream chimney cake, as the cake serves as a cone, which is quite neat! This place is actually pretty bomb. I first tasted the chimney cakes in Luxemburg (Europe) last year and fell in love with this delicacies. They are freshly made as you order, the same way as Luxemburg, same technique. The flavor is there but, here, they granulate the walnut to a powder, which makes me miss the chunky nuts they had in Luxemburg. The gelato here........... all I gots to say is, you gotta try it. I could see myself paying $11 for a chimney cake and gelato once in a blue moon, but not $33 for a family of 3 to have dessert! It's definitely a unique and delicious desert. We have been here 3 times now. All 3 times we purchased gelato. It is by far the most flavorful gelato we have ever tasted! I won't even begin to tell you all the flavors we ate, as we always can't decide and end up picking 3 or 4 out each time. The owners are very generous, allowing you to sample whichever flavor of the week they have in stock - sometimes "forcing" it upon you, BURP! The latest time I was determined to try their Hungarian sausage panini, as the previous 2 trips there it was calling my name. It was as good as I anticipated! The flavors in that sandwich were incredible! It comes with some potato chips on the side, if you like chips so be it. My recommendation is that you take the time to eat the sandwich on site, fresh off the grill, for the best experience. If you take it home and make the mistake of a stop or two you may end up with a slightly soggy toasted bread on the side facing down. That was my mistake for sure, but it did not take away from the great taste. The top bread was still toasty though. I won't make that same mistake twice, as I could only imagine how much better it would have been to have that slight crunch all the way through. Oh yes, we also bought a chimney cake to split. We had never tried one and elected to go with something "familiar" and ordered it with cinnamon / sugar (a la churros style). That was some of the tastiest "cake" we have ever had and put our old familiar churros to shame. No comparison, unique (as in their name) for sure! They get the 5 star rating ( as good as it gets) for the type of shop they are! Oh, and the husband / wife team (I presume they are) are great people and very friendly. read more

Being Hungarian and actually having Kurtoskalacs in Budapest, this was a complete let down. Not only was the dough completely raw on the inside and almost inedible, the service was terrible (owner was rude and not friendly) . For $6.25 for a basic version of this Hungarian pastry, you need to do better. I'm all for supporting small businesses, especially nowadays, but I won't ever be coming back here. If you look at Yelp reviews for the past year, the owners refuse to listen to feedback from dissatisfied customers and instead go with negativity. I'm already prepared for the aggressive and unprofessional comment the owners are going to make at this review-I'm fluent in Hungarian too so I'll be able to read whatever you write. Update: as you can see, the owner responded in Hungarian. Of course it was rude and called my character into question-seriously what owner does that. He also claimed to be super friendly and helpful and made me seem like the villain in all of this......Plus he said to take my business elsewhere and if I can make it better at home, I should. I know for damn fact I can make it better and won't be eating raw dough. True European quality. The owner, Csaba, is a super friendly Hungarian man who is doing what he was meant to do--offer delicious treats with his happy and hospitable demeanor. He is generous, jovial and creates a joyous atmosphere. Okay, so the gelato: we tried every flavor. He makes 65 but serves about a dozen at any time. Like I said, he uses real, high quality ingredients - and what a difference this always makes. And he is a true creator. Some of the flavors, like mojito (fresh diced mint and lime - to die for!) and lavender lemon. Not adventurous? NO problem. Go ahead and savor the richest chocolate, Italian imported coffee and peanut butter flavors. There are also many favorite fruit flavors like lemon, fresh pineapple, mango and strawberry. Soooo good! ***CHIMNEY CAKES!!!! Have you ever had a chimney cake? Me neither! We loved it and cannot wait to have it again. It's very unique and a popular authentic Hungarian treat. When you go into the shop there is a video that shows how it's made, and Csaba will show you behind the counter. It's sweet dough spiraled around a wooden cylinder thing with an iron handle, and it literally rotates over heat, making it soft, chewy, doughy and DE-LIC-OUS!!!! You can choose it a few ways. We opted for cinnamon sugar but will have to try the othes like graham cracker and Oreo cookie. He also makes ice cream cones of it. Wow. Wow. WOW. We noticed he makes panini's as well, including a Hungarian sausage one. We're really looking forward to trying those! Like other reviews, I do want to add that the place is spotless, has great decor, and you just feel so welcome the minute he spots you. A truly enjoyable atmosphere has been created here. Our family's go-to and just about the only gelato place in town! It's authentic, homemade and have unique flavors. The owners experiment with flavors so majority of them change every week or are seasonal. We definitely appreciate the time and passion they take and put into perfecting each flavor! They also offer chimney cakes which is a Hungarian sweet cake shaped like a spiral cone - you can even use this cake as a gelato cone - WHAATT!!
