Legit Ube ice cream in Temecula.... whuuuuuut!!!?!??! Handel's is located on the outskirt of Promenade Mall. It's kinda tucked away, but know that it's adjacent to Margarita Rd. Upon walking in, it smelled very sweet like vanilla mixed with the cleanliness of Fabuloso lol! Clean is good though!! I got a 2.5 scoop of "Taro" (ube) in a sugar cone. This is the smallest they have. They told me that they could do a 1 scoop but it's the same price as a 2.5 scoop so I went with it. After the first taste, I knew right away that this ice cream was made with high quality ingredients. Vynikajici!! It has a very rich texture and robust taste!! So luscious!! It's very similar to the Taro Gelato from Sweet Orchid in SF, except this one is a wee bit sweeter. The sugar cone had a faintly mild hint of almond extract, which paired really well with the ube ice cream. Definitely coming back here since I really love ube ice cream!! Yummy!! We haven't been to Handel's in a while. Unfortunately there are no locations too close to home, but when we are near one we have to go. This ice cream is hands down, one of the best out there. I cannot tell you a favorite flavor because whatever they do here, they make them all perfect. Today we got a four scoop sampler for $8. Since they have so many flavors, this is a good way to enjoy your money's worth and taste a variety of the goodness from the ice cream gods. Coconut caramel was perfect with big crunchy portions of coconut doused in caramel. So good. Banana Cream Pie was outstanding, just like eating the real pie, but cold and creamy. The S'mores were awesome, a taste of real graham cracker, with chocolate and pieces of marshmallows. Perfect summer treat. Last but not least, the Taro here is the best Taro Ice Cream you will ever have, in my opinion. This had the most natural tasting taro that I've ever had in an ice cream or frozen yogurt. I'm pretty sure that Mr. Taro would appreciate this dedication to the Taro Legacy. If you are a fan of taro, you definitely need to try it here! But unlike the competitor, you cannot see the ice cream so choose based on the name or ask for flavor samples. Flavors are abundant and unique. Serving size is very generous. A medium waffle bowl will net you 5-6 small scoops of 2 different flavors. If you are sharing and want the extra waffle cone, that will be $1.
