The Coconut Cloud Matcha is my go-to in the summer because it's so refreshing. When I'm not in the mood for matcha, I usually get one of their fruit teas, which are also super flavorful. Their Vietnamese coffee is rich, smooth, and has a strong coffee flavor without being overly bitter. On top of that, the service is always incredibly fast and everyone is so friendly. Stopped by Unitea while visiting Ann Arbor, and it was a great place to grab a drink while walking around downtown and the University of Michigan campus. They have a pretty good selection of matcha drinks, and you can order from a self-service kiosk. I got the mango matcha latte, and my friend got the coconut matcha cloud. Our drinks came out pretty quickly, and the matcha was smooth and easy to drink. There isn't a ton of seating inside, so we just stood around while waiting for our drinks, but we didn't have to wait long. If you're looking to study or hang out with a friend, though, you might have a harder time finding a seat if it's busy. We were taking ours to-go, so it wasn't really an issue. They only have one size for drinks, but I'd definitely come back to try some of their other matcha and coffee options! read more

Not sure how long ago this spot opened but it's new to me and I'm glad I tried it... yum! When you walk in, there are several ordering kiosks but you can also walk up to the counter as I did for assistance. They were helpful in answering my questions about their most popular drinks. Strawberry matcha was mentioned, sold! It was delicious, refreshing and I'd totally order it again. The shop itself is pretty small so it's more of a grab and go type spot. My favorite matcha in Ann Arbor! I'm so glad I got to try this with a friend. They have a stocked menu with so many matcha and Vietnamese coffee staples and everything is high quality and tasty and customizable. I stopped by Unitea to try their matcha latte recently and it was perfect! I'm very picky about matcha drinks, I prefer a more robust matcha taste and unique flavor pairings. Unitea has very unique flavors that are hard to find elsewhere in Michigan like Pandan and Mango. I tried the mango matcha and it was the perfect balance of sweet. The mango flavor is from a jam so it's not overly sweet and slightly tart. The matcha is ceremonial grade and the quality is apparent from both taste and appearance. Our previous UniTea experiences were all delivery and I'm happy to report I finally physically made it in yesterday and it was great! A few things in particular made me very happy: 1. The return of the taiyaki. I'm not sure how long it was gone exactly but I have not seen it available for quite some time. Not sure if it's available via delivery yet but signage inside said "taiyaki is back" and it was on their in store menu so that was at least an option! You can also order them solo if you want or with ice cream. Whoo! 2. Way more options in store than online ordering. I was shocked at how much I was missing just by going through an app. You order at a kiosk which I also actually really liked since I was able to take my time looking through the menu and customizing things easily. I can imagine it might be a little more frustrating when they're busy but when I was the only one in there it was nice to have the space to dive in without feeling bad I was holding a cashier up. My order was also ready in like 5 minutes which was very speedy! 3. MOCHI DONUTS. To the best of my knowledge they're the first place in Ann Arbor to offer them. I had never had them before and I have to say I like them quite a bit. A bit chewier than a standard donut but they taste great and very cute and photogenic. The place isn't huge but they have a few tables if you want to eat there. It's a cute atmosphere so I'll definitely be doing that in the future (I immediately texted my husband "I demand a date night here."). Not sure how crowded they get during peak times but on a Wednesday around 6pm I was the only one in there. And they're open late-ish which is also a bonus! read more

We visited A2 and decided to have some drinks at unitea café. My family had a wonderful experience there with the new management. Lina (the manager) was very pleasant and patient; she helped a young family member choose and order a drink. There are so many drink choices and all are great choices. The numerous add-ons are great too. The purpose of so many choices is for customers to order the very drink they want. (Note: You can place your orders on touch screens conveniently located to your left immediately after you enter.) The ambiance is quiet and comfortable. There are a few small tables and a short bench. About 10-15 people fit comfortably. The place is small and cozy so the business model is to serve customers quickly. UniTea is the newest bubble tea shop to open in Ann Arbor, and unlike the others they're not a chain! They're located in Iorio's previous spot and just had their grand opening today, but they've been in soft opening for the last week. They have a variety of drinks as well as soft serve, which you can also choose to get in a taiyaki or egg waffle! I believe they have the same owners as V Kitchen, and their menu also includes Vietnamese coffee and a pandan coconut flavor option for the waffles. They're currently running a 25% off grand opening promotion until the 29th. We tried a few items and liked the desserts more than the drinks. Our favorite was the taiyaki soft serve with milk and matcha swirl ($7.50). The egg waffle was also good, but the strawberry and mango swirl soft serve didn't pair that well with it imo. We didn't like the drinks as much though: the black milk tea with boba was the best, with a nice strong tea flavor, but wasn't very milky. The Ube Swirl was mostly milk and not that much ube (it's mostly swirled on the sides). We got it without the cheese cap though so maybe the original is better. We really didn't like the Unitea fruit tea, which is black tea and fruits (passionfruit, pineapple...). We added boba to all the drinks and it was just ok - on the harder and chewier side. They have a lot of drinks on their menu though, so maybe other options are better. The inside of the store is pretty narrow but the have a few seats. The interior decoration is super cute, with lots of balloons and smiley faces. FYI as of today (July 27) masks aren't required inside, and employees weren't wearing masks. They do provide hand sanitizer. Overall 3/5 but bumping up the rating since they're new and have a lot of room to grow, and the milk and matcha soft serve was good. I'd recommend trying them out and supporting a new, local boba shop! read more

This would be the 5th bubble tea location in the area.... explosion of bubble tea shops in Ann Arbor. This place took over Iorio Gelato location... while they do offer bubble tea, they also offer Vietnamese coffee, soft serve, in hopes of differentiating itself from four other bubble shops around the corner. I got the Mangonada and Vietnamese coffee. The coffee was decent, didn't taste that strong Vietnamese coffee flavor that I'm used too. Mangonada was awesome, would recommend this for sure. read more

Good drinks and food. My only regret was not having enough space in my stomach to order a fish waffle and ice cream in addition to my bubble tea. Hope to try this on my next visit! While the store is small, service is quick and speedy. I like to order my drink ahead of time on my mobile Snackpass app and time my walk to the store to ensure little to no wait time. My bubble tea drinks have certainly made for tasty beverages while strolling around downtown and the Diag on campus. One of my favorite boba shops on campus!! They have super taiyaki ice creams and they're not too sweet but make up for it in softness and smoothness. Furthermore, I love their drinks. This place is an awesome little boba shop right on campus that recently opened up. While I had anticipated going out for boba they sell an assortment of shakes and desserts that were so beautifully dressed I had to put my boba on hold. On the inside you can order on an electronic kiosk and your order is ready in ~3-5min. There is some indoor seating which is limited (roughly 2 tables) though depending on the time of day it may be too crowded and you might want to make a to go order. We had the pineapple and mango shakes which were rich with fruit chunks and blended to perfection. The Tajin seasoning and candy straw was really unique and worked so well with the sweetness of the fruit masterfully balancing out the flavors with spice and tart. This shake is one of the most unique takes on familiar flavors that I have ever tried and I will definitely be returning to try their other deserts! I liked how their shakes were fresh, flavorful without being too sweet or too rich, and well decorated. I highly recommend dropping by and checking them out. read more
